Whats the difference between theses hip hop guys and there late 20's early 30's"old them looks. This guy with his hip hop hat and some punk rock guy with his long hair and leather jacket and budweiser beer can? There is no difference, this guy has money and he could dress like an adult,he got business money so he could be in a suit but he would rather look like mr hip hop.
Yo Flash, whats up this DJ Shazam dj'd with DJ Smokey, Luck and the Master Plan Bunch, I only want to know why you don't give us no accolades from Grant Ave. I've been to your place in Delano Village, holla at me strengthrecords2@gmail.com, Smokey, Lucky and Jimmy C give you much respect, get at us Bruh !!
Flash, I need your permission to post this video on my website. We have a video in which Dj East 137 speaks of the 80's and 90's in Mitchell Housing and it showcases the building directly in front of 54 park. DJ East also has a song in which you are mentioned as an inspiration.
@onetimepeace Ah man, yo its good to hear somebody acknowledge that fact aloota people and not all JS1 fans either, think Jazzy Jeff( is to me the next Flash) invented cuttin & scratching, to really understand what Flash is you gotta go to the TK Fever Fun house Roxy these parks etc. What he did on wax is incredible too but Flash is the straight up INNOVATOR and most DJ's idolized. I knew Chris Rock was a real ni66a, when I saw Flash spinnin the Chris Rock show.
two turntables and a mic.... and a love for the music..... back then it was disco and funk.... today, everybody borrows from what we had to physically spin back and forth on wax.
Understand, this ain't a game, youngstas. This is a movement we call hip-hop.
I grew up in the Mitchell Projects right behind you. We moved in 360 behind you in 1965 apt 6j. Do you go to the reunions every last Saturday in July? it's gonna be great next year. You should be there!
Grandmaster Flash, You Should Have A Honnor Sign From The Light Post Where You First Tapped Into To Say " This is The Power That Started It All" Much Love!
Alot of them tapped into the electrical supply for the street lamps to power their equipment risking serious injury or death. And they took that risk out of their love for music.
This is truly a remarkable series. I commend you, Flash, for taking the time out and willingly showing us the authentic roots of hip-hop - something that gets pushed to the side too often in today's media-crazed music industry.

From the horses mouth, as real as it gets, no mediation, no edits, personally from the man to you.
This is great man thanks.
Its real inspiring. I remember the feeling of playing those little parties in tight little rooms, or those little abandoned places, even garages.
I think i wanna try something like that again. Keep it secret and play some amazing sets.
