i dont want to judgethe driver at all so i wont i personaly would of layed of at the first sign of her squirming like that iv experienced it but there no point tryin to hold it !!
Mid engine car.... dumb fucks who think he is a bad driver. He got the speed wobbles, thank god he didnt wreck, most people would have in a mid engine car because basically, its like your on a skateboard and get the wobbles, when your going the fastest(horsepower). He obviously lost traction because more boost and more hp is created at higher rpms and longer gears. So cheers to you MR2 driver for not dieing :)
You need drag shocks bouncing like a mad man which is why continued losing traction. Or retarded boost spikes, but that seems pretty impossible to get drag radials loose after a decent heat cycle
Relax buddy, I guess I was mistaken. I have two MR2's, one mk1 and one JDM mk2 turbo the mk2 is a gen 1 and doesn't have LSD. I thought the later gens just had it as an option, I didn't know that it came as standard
The MR2 is notorious for having snap steering issues. This sucker will go where it wants. Dispite Toyotas best efforts, the problem was never remedied. Which is a shame. I wanted one of these but once I heard about the driveability problems it was out of the question.
@didgemonster I'm glad they never sorted it!! That's what I loved about my mr2. It would turn in quick and just flick into the curves. any understeer could be remedied by just letting off for a second. then once thru said corner, you power out with that monster mid engine grip. yes it gets a bit loose up front at 100+mph but that's what the supra was for, the mr2 was always more of a smaller runabout. However, it could be dangerous in the wrong hands (lift-throttle oversteer etc.)
@didgemonster , Its the bumpsteer in the rear , i corrected mine and its very stable, you also cant run really low air pressure in the slicks ,I run 15psi in a 26x8.5x15 . .
turbo mr2s are no joke. this car will bite you in the ass if you're not careful. the dirver of this car did some quick thinking by backing off the throttle and not slamming on the brakes.
To me it looks like he broke an axle. At the first of the video the car violently launchs, stops and then takes off with no ability to control the car.
Maybe it's not, but I've seen cars break an axle and behave the exact same way.
to the ones sayin this dude cant drive, i sure one like to see you handle a car with that much torque on a strip, id say the guy before him was leakin a lil fluid and made the track slickker than hell! you are down right retarded
That's called turning. It's where you move the steering wheel with your hands to point the car in another direction. BUT DON'T WORRY, you'll get it one day.
@JazzVanWolfe, I dont know weather your comment is against what i was saying. but i think the person driving has alot of skill to be going that fast, and not hit the wall.
Obvious the driver is a newbie, not sure why anyone is defending him. Notice that his tires are not in the groove at launch and he purposely steers out of the groove in 2nd gear after he gets into the groove (accidentally) and hooks up. Then he seems to stay wide open throttle when the car is 45 degrees sideways in 4th gear. Not smart.
hi.. just to clear this up for every one... the mr2 name started off as a configuration name, mid engined, rear wheel drive, 2 seater... but it was released as the midship runabout by japanese marketing...
so everyone is right, lose the hate and do some research guys...
excuse me? I drive a "stick" (manual transmission, thankyouverymuch, mr. american) every day. You can't just drop the clutch and floor the accelerator and expect the car to stay still while your rear wheels are spinning. You'd need front brakes to keep it standing stil. And from what it appears, he releases his brakes at 0:34, but the brake-lights only come on after the whole burnout (top bar of red lights).
i own a mr2 turbo and it has to be one of the best handling cars i have ever driven and rewarding if you crash it its your fault this car requires you to be on your game if your not slow down. no problem
mr2= Mid Engine... not rear... Rear whell drive... 2 seater.. thats what it stands for dummy dont talk about it if you have no idea about it mr pakilodi i love my deuce.. takes out all the honda crap in my town
@kylesaenz90 You and bryanmallonee1 are both right. When the MR2 was initially released, it was said to stand for Midship Runabout 2-seater but later became known as Mid engine Rear wheel drive 2-seater. There are many people who refer to the MR2 with different meanings.

@antonyaiken you're a dumb fuck. go look it up, mid engined rear wheel drive two seater is just a common translation, The official meaning is midship runabout two seater, sorry its not as cool but that's what it stands for. don't tell me to get my facts straight when you obviously don't know...
@ShopVids i love it when uneducated people decide to use profanities instead of the marvel of the English language. i didn't swear at you so why would you decide that it is appropriate to swear at me? i own a rev2 1993 mr2 GT and in the handbook it states, in toyota's own text book, "Midship mounted, Rear driven, 2 Seat sports car"
please feel free to argue, but honestly i do not care as i just enjoy the car i own.
@branDUMBskies I owned one too, and I have already looked it up, that's how I know what it stands for. Please, just take the two seconds to google it.

that was all the car too much power or bad track driver had no control over it mr2 are light in the front motors in back as u can see driver trys to control it as it launches later down the track it looses tracktion good recover could of ben worst.
hahahaah thats the stupidest thing i've ever heard!! how the hell is it not the drivers fault when he goes in the other lane???? your an idiot! i know it has a lot of horsepower when it starts to spool but gosh this guy just can't drive
ok officially now your an idiot. Have you ever thought about a slick track?, locked lsd? so much shit can go wrong on a track, this guy is an amazing driver because he RECOVERED from going into the other lane not only saving his car and himself, but the other racer as well. Go back to street racing you fucking mullet homo, track racing is for real driver no some F & F cast call reject like you.
actually he could have backed off the throttle and avoided going into the other lane. and second of all i came in sixth this season in drag racing so im damn sure im a better racer than you you stupid damn firecrotch
yea he could have but he didn't, the fact that he saved the himself and the other driver makes him a good drive, really I don't give a shit what place you came in, you could have won NHRA and I still think your an idiot.. and also, firecrotch? seriously man, thats just sad. lol go back to w/e pathetic life that you have cause your failing at being a youtube nazi.
I wonder if he was smart enough to take his power steering out and maybe that's why he cannot control it? Because he has no wheelie bars in the back and obviously that is also playing a part in this swerving motion? I dunno, I am not a drag racer, however if he didn't even fill the power steering, that can also make it harder to turn as well in that car...
yo my man dont make any more comments . stick to your fast fords and muscle mustangs . or better yet go back to playing with hondas .. your freaking dumb
was the rear end not trd or the car too powerful my couzin has one its very fast trd rear end, he launched it goes straight it rund tens it has trd rear end im lookin to get one i was impressed.
dude he almost popped a wheelie u stupid fuck...u saved it from crashin which is better than a dick like u can do...he had like 900hp man give him some fuckin credit
why is that? im looking into buying a stock mr2 turbo 3sgte here in California, they are hard to find decent ones. I probably wont be putting nearly as much power as this one, im thinking this one has 600+hp. But still why do they become hard to control? I will probably be fine with max like 375-400 hp at the wheels. With the weight of that car, i think its more than enough for a daily driver. and escaping police if need be.
wow....just woww.

Finallly until someone puts out a good video of an mr-2, mr-2's are really hard to control when you have a lot of power on them...

why is that? im looking into buying a stock mr2 turbo 3sgte here in California, they are hard to find decent ones. I probably wont be putting nearly as much power as this one, im thinking this one has 600+hp. But still why do they become hard to control? I will probably be fine with max like 375-400 hp at the wheels. With the weight of that car, i think its more than enough for a daily driver. and escaping police if need be.
