I feel like such an idiot. I found Integral Birth and loved it but I never took the time to listen to more of Cynic. Now that I have, another portion of my life is complete. Fuck. Yes.
let's not try too hard on thinking about the proper label for this band. why the fuck does that even matter? death-fusion? what the fuck? you're only getting yourselves lost. just enjoy the music.
@Eradicateify If there is anything very present it's fusion most likely. Not by chance is Malone a big estimator of Pastorius. But yeah, I agree. It's Cynic and that's IT.
There is no trace of death metal in this song other than the occasional growls. Piss off with your weird fucking genres. They are not needed. So nerdy. Your the kind of guy that'd call Necrophagist, Neoclassical technical progressive Death metal I bet
Nope, I'd call them Tech death. Besides, I'll call them whatever I want to fucking call them. You can like it or back off. My opinion wasn't needed until you decided to be a cock to someone else over the internet. Also, if you think that genre doesn't exist, then listen to obscura and atheist.
You're on a Cynic video. You trying to insult people with nerd is laughable. It's like trying to call people who listen to attack attack faggots--while listening to attack attack.
Pretentious and nerdy yes, but I wasn't rude until you decided to be. Besides, when did being a nerd on the internet become so rare and disgusting that it became an insult? Honestly, expand your vocabulary, kid. Now this was fun about a week ago, but now it's boring. Enjoy your life.
I was just on the video listening to some Cynic, saw your comment and thought, "Oh yeah, that sad little fuck. I'l grace him with my words". And this is the thanks I get.
@ChainsawVsGod Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal both played on the Human album by Death...that album is one, if not, the best death metal album ever put out (with the exception being Symbolic) so there's obviously death metal influences...i can definitely hear some Death-like melodies in this song
Sorry but your simply just wrong. There is absolutely no death metal in this. Death metal is Autopsy, Cannibal Corpse, early and mid Death, Atheist, Origin, Dying Fetus, etc. Its actually hilarious if you think this is Death metal.
@ChainsawVsGod i never said it was death metal...it's obviously not, except for the DEATH GROWLS...but nonetheless, there are big death metal influences in here...i can guarantee that this band wouldn't be the same if Paul and Sean hadn't been involved with Death
Cynics death metal days were back in their Focus era. They made that album just two years after they made Human with Death unless I'm mistaken. The made traced in air just a few years ago though. They'v evolved from death metal now onto this.

There barely is any jazz in this, im a jazz musican. Dont label music this is cynic they are unique like every other true musician.

rohanpogi 6 months ago
@rohanpogi
Its more classical, paul masvidal is classically trained guitarist he might have experiemented with jazz but he isnt jazz musician.
