@obbyb1 On the autobahn it will kill a Civic. The type R engine has no power beyond 120mph..... I got that lesson in real life driving through germany. I couldn't keep up with the ST :(
@mada88 I'm not sure why you got so many thumbs down for that comment! As a CTR driver I'd have to agree, I can go quick on the motorway but it brings on a headache pretty quick since I have to drop down a couple of gears. Hi revs plus loud road noise don't make for a comfortable journey. But on winding B roads it's a different story!
@staggabob Yeah driving on the motorway is not a nice experience in the Type R.... plus it has no power and you have to drop gears to accelerate.... but it's all about the B roads! I love my Type R to bits... but I only do 5k miles a year. Which means I basically blast it every weekend... lol. For any other journeys I much prefer my girlfriends 125i coupe... plus its RWD so you can get the arse out... though only when she's not in the car hahahahaha.
@staggabob ive heard people say type r's are loud, ive got a 2005 model and, i make a 200 mile round journey every weekend, all on motorways and never have any bother with the noise...ha im not deaf either :p
@CrustyLoveLips It's personal preference. I traded my Type R in for a Z4 3.0. Even with the soft top there's less wind noise than in the Civic- it's still noisy though. It's a nice feeling having torque and being able to still pull strongly from 80-90 without going down through the gears but I have to say I miss the Civic's handling on the winding roads- or at least being able to see all the corners of my car! Those back seats were pretty useful too!
@staggabob i spose im only 22 and havnt driven THAT many cars so i dont have that much to compare it to...nice choice on the z4 though, i wanted a bmw 330 softop next ^.^
only thing ive noticed with my civic, i wish the breaks were just a little sharper, about two weeks in i hit a corner a little too fast, wasnt too bad but was a little uncomfortable, sayin that though, you nver make the same mistake twice :D
wrx smokes type-r ? Now thats where you are wrong ;) on tarmac, type-r can take on wrx's .. it can keep up with evo's and with stock STi too.. but keep up :D
thats not really a very good scooby tho isw it. i mean if it was a 93 scooby wrx it wud cain all of them, i kept up with a 3 terzo in my rover 200 vi aswell as a focus rs and a civic type r
yes, i know, but it looked like it had it from one view, but then from another... Maybe it is an Invidia exhaust, but the exhaust pipe looks a bit too small for that...
Civic Type R all the way.
Because boost is like Viagra. For those that can't do it 'naturally' :-P

take it on the tracks and focus wins , certainly the rs or with a small remap ...i have respect for vtecs , but the focus is far more cheap to tune..
When you're a carlover, you need to have respect for that aswell..it just brings tuning and high-bhp closer to the working men.
you get 300bhp out of a type r with the same money as the st?! naaahhh!!!
LooneySRM 2 years ago
LOL No ST will beat a type R on the track. I was supprised the ST didn't beat the civic in a straight line but on the track no way.

no not stock... a STI is much faster than these cars.
The WRX has the lowest Topspeed and its not slower. I dont think its hard to understand!?
Nordlicht05 3 years ago
@gronholmGoku depends which evo...plus, i wouldnt like to race my ctr against ANY evo, i feel id be emabarrased by the result

I have a wrx, no offence but it passes type R's without too much trouble, what modds does this one have?
PAULABCDEFG12 4 years ago
You must be right. Seeing as the Scooby couldn't even overtake the Focus, but 'both' Civic's can.

bereal2012 3 years ago
The red CTR had stock Airbox, stock ECU, stock Header, HF cat 200cpi and Invidia gt300 Catback. probably 215hp flywheel but never dynoed.

hmm toda exhausts have a little bend on the end
Mirza225 4 years ago
yes, i know, but it looked like it had it from one view, but then from another... Maybe it is an Invidia exhaust, but the exhaust pipe looks a bit too small for that...
PetGer 4 years ago
exhaust cant be a spoon n1 it isnt deep enough
Mirza225 4 years ago
It might could be a Toda exhaust, looks a little like that
PetGer 4 years ago
what modifications did the civic type r have?
Mirza225 4 years ago
Probably a CAI (cold air intake) and another exhaust! It's a small but very effective mod on the CTR
