Als er geen atmosferische storingen waren konden wij, in Tilburg, midden jaren zestig de BRT goed ontvangen. Kap'tein Zeppos op woensdagmiddag, en op zaterdagavond het dolkomische Echo, na een aflevering van The Untouchables (met Robert Stack). Nog ouder was De kat op de koord. Als er iemand afleveringen van Echo heeft: uploaden svp!!!

This song, Living it up by Bert Kaempfert, it's fantastic. I am grown with this song, title track of the omonimous LP (Polydor Stereo 237599). I'm sure of the number because I have in front of my eyes the original LP buyed in 1964 by my father when he allowed oneself the first stereo system.

Of course an electron tube unit with turntable and AM/FM Stereo radioreceiver.

Jesus, it's 44 years since I saw this intro & music having been 7 years old when it was shown on BBC TV in 1967. I distinctly remember the tune & the guy in the crane bucket.

Looks like the Captain is out and about in an Austin Champ jeep. This had a Rolls Royce engine- they built loads for the army but got rid of them and bought Land Rover- this was a lucky break for the captain as he was able to get one- nice and cheap- probably over in Bielefeld. I hope he stays on the right side of the road- that's the wrong side for us!

I watched this as a kid in England- about 1967- I can't remember much other than Captain Zeppos was The Man and I was a keen fan of his at the time.

This tune was used for one of the best series showed on TV when i was young. Captain Zeppos was the main character.

Everybody of my generation remembers this tune as "Kapitein Zeppos".

Sorry Bert (Kaempfert), whatever your song is called, for me it is "Kapitein Zeppos"... and i love this tune. It brings me back at the age of 9 !

I am Italian, and Captain Zeppos was never released here, but...but Senne Rouffaer was the director of Johan en de Alverman, an ultracult for us, children of the seventies...an ultracult telefilm

that left a mark in our heart and memory... and I was curious to see the face of Senne. Long live to Gianni e il magico Alverman!!!!

Yes Danny it certainly was on the BBC and I would say about 1963 was the time. I would rush home from school just to listen to the theme music and it still sounds great. The english dubbing of the programmes was atrocious. Many years later I heard the music on the radio and within days had bought myself my one and only Bert Kaempfert LP.

Ik kan mij deze serie als kind nog wel herinneren; volgens mij kwam in de serie ook een autootje voor die door het water kon varen; de inleidende melodie is van Bert Kaempfert.

Wasn't there a scene in it where someone (who doubts his authenticity) says "What exactly are you a captain in?" Captain Zeppos replies, "The Swiss Navy". Which put an end to the questioning!

I loved the theme tune but haven't heard it for about 30 years. the last time I was in Holland, and it was played on the radio, and the people I was with said 'ahhh - captain zeppos..!'. I always though it must be Bert Kampfaert, as there are some others of his that sound similar. i was 9 when the series was on BBC.
