@aSkepticalman, depends on the wind speed. They also already have Stirling-engines, construction of masts and sails consumes natural resources. manufacturing is not green. Conservation and maintanence is green.
hmmm.. you can cruise at similar speeds using human power.. but still these engines are beautiful - could they possibly use waste heat from a barge's wood burning stove for propulsion?

Fantastic engines!
How much heat do they require to operate? Could it be sunlight coming from a parabolic mirror be enough to make them run?

@moonostan
Yes!
but the waves make it less effective and that kind of lens can blind or burn you in seconds!
a Human and such spot lenses or reflectors make thing very dangerous.
color of parts also help.
as a device to pump water to filter or make hot such a lens be a great power source if the sun is shinning.
it can MELT the engine!
LOL
It has to be focused just right and not too much on the focal point or it does what it does..BLOW TORCH HOT!

I understand that the semisubmersed plane propeller is the only one that can cope efficiently with all the power!
There is even "Evinrude the Dragonfly" that came to check it out at 6'49!
