goodness. The boosters seperate at 2,600mph!! Wouldnt that rip them apart?

No. The boosters are still firing when they are jettisoned, so they brake as the fuel burns out. Then they give out, and fall into the Atlantic Ocean

what's da normal booster seperation altitude? And how long does it take them to splashdown?
30 nautical miles or about 45 miles in the air.
3000 miles per hour
Any idea how long it takes from lift off til they actually get in space? And why don't they burn up on the way out?Is it just in?

8 minutes. they dont burn up because they are controlling their speed.
Anyone know where I can get this in wmv or mpg or basically some format I can edit on my PC? I want to make a montage and can't seem to find it.

it was live on the day it launched
4000 miles an hour... 3:30 into the flight and 53 miles into the atmosphere. My first dream was to be an Astronaut. Thank GOD the next Space Shuttle Mission was successful. R.I.P. Crews of Challenger and Columbia.
