with all respect i dont agree with gay people i dont hate them or degrade them in anyway but i do not have to agree with their lifestyle. be it lifestyle born gay whatever the claim. why am i a bigot because i dont agree with it good example miss california remember that? said in the most respectful calm manner it could be said still she was outed as a bigot hate monger horrible person. there are many example of this happening for opinion. i say the gay community is the biggest bigot.
@miket1m Morality is totally dependent on cultural/environmental/situational variables. We as a society determine what is acceptable and what is not in our present place in time. Otherwise, what was right or wrong a thousand years ago would be right or wrong today, which we all know is NOT the case.
@miket1m So we're trying to label a shade black or white, when in reality we know that we have an entire myriad of color classifications, to believe in such a binary system is dooming yourself to a narrow view of reality. There is no such thing as objective rightness or wrongness. We can call things more right, or more wrong for particular situations, but what's right in one situation, won't be right in others.
@miket1m By "objective morality" of course I'm talking about a concrete, unyielding concept of what is right and what is wrong outside of the parameters of a given situation. (akin to commandments, universal deity laws, ect.)
wow your gay! but who gives a shit if it were up to me all people deserve respect! don't like people that hate gay people or any other people for that matter! I'm in lesbians with people!
Discrimination is not automatically bad. I discriminate on the kinds of foods I eat, on the programs I watch, and what movies I let my kids see. We all discriminate. We all have a criteria by which we judge what is, and is not, acceptable. I discriminate against child molesters, and I will not let them be with my children unattended. I discriminate against various theological teachings that contradict the Bible. I discriminate all the time, and so do you.
When it comes to homosexuality, I believe that God has condemned it as a sin (Rom. 1:18ff). But my agreeing with God that homosexuality is a sin is not the same as discriminating against homosexuals. I have no problem working with homosexuals in a secular environment. I have no problem with homosexuals being my neighbors. I have no problem with working out at the gym with homosexuals. In things like these, I don't discriminate.
I would agree that someone should not be fired from a job (in the secular realm) because he or she is homosexual. I think that is wrong, not because it is based on sexual orientation, but because we should treat everyone as equally as possible. Also, because of my religious beliefs and my right to express them, I would not promote homosexuality nor would I change so as not to "offend" those who think that having sex with people of the same gender is perfectly normal and morally acceptable.
The fact of the matter is, I'm offended by their lack of moral sensibilities. But no one seems to be concerned about how I'm offended or how I feel about the intrusion of homosexuality into society, TV, the movies, etc. But, I digress. To say that condemning homosexuality is wrong is a statement dealing with morality, not with legality. By whose standard is something right or wrong and what justifies that standard as being valid?
If you say that condemning homosexuality as a sin is morally wrong, then on what basis does such a statement gain its moral objectivity by which a blanket condemnation can be made? If you say that the majority of society determines what is morally right and wrong, that is called the fallacy of Argumentum ad populum. Just because a majority of people think something is right or wrong doesn't make it right or wrong.
I am not a bigot because condemning homosexual practice as a sin is not discriminatory in a legal sense, but it is one in a spiritual sense, and that is alright.
When someone objects on moral grounds to my objections or other Christians condemning homosexuality as a sin, he has no objective moral basis by which he can make such an assertion. At best, all he is doing is giving his opinion and it would be arrogant to think that his opinion is the standard or morality for everyone else.
Bombastic, whiney, droning and scripted. I sure hope you don't take this as constructive criticism, change your way's and not get angry, thus only benefiting from it. Sometimes I just like to be mean to people and enjoy making fun of them for their fault's. This would defy my purpose :) Now I'll go send 3 nice comment's, just incase karma exist's :p
@EvesUnderground I'm a Christian and I find atheists to be more close minded. I admit what I believe is out of faith. I know that there's a chance that I could be wrong. most atheists deny that possibility. they believe they are without a doubt correct that there is no God or higher power even though it's impossible to prove if there's a higher power or not. out of Christians, agnostics, muslims, hindus, and bhudists - atheists are the most rude and intolerant of other peoples views.
@conservatiive456 they may be the most rude but I think some of those middle eastern religions are the most rude ... in any case I am none of the above.. I see people in a whole overly sensitive... here in America especially!
@EvesUnderground I don't like islam at all to be honest, but I don't see much complaining or whining from muslims who were raised in the U.S. or UK. people here who are muslims seam to stick to themselves and mind their own business. sure there's probably some muslims going around spreading their insane views. but not like the atheists do. everywhere i go I see these hordes of atheists criticizing people for what they believe in. utterly sick.
@conservatiive456 The athiest friends I have are mainly metal musicians and they have recieved death threats for not believing in a "God" ..I think if I had as many death threats as they did, I would be angery ass too..lol
@EvesUnderground the Christians sending those threats can't honestly call themselves Christians. Jesus put an end to the perspective of the old testament. Jesus promoted love and peace, not killing and threatening. in fact Jesus had stopped executions of people by religious fanatics, saying that all sin was natural, we shouldn't be killed for it.
@conservatiive456 Sad to say I don't think they care if they can say that or not..it's usually the fanatical ones that shout threats...the athiest are probably the most hated group out there ..lol ..I think you have to have a tough spine to even be one...I don't believe the way they do I still have questions I have not setteled on anything ..but that is just me I love questioning things..for now I just call myself a free thinker..
being atheist sounds great. nearly half everyone out there thinks just like you. you get to share your views with almost everyone. and the whole death threat thing is serious but it's certainly very rare just like any other death threat.
If a standard is set by anything other than something transcendental of man. Man must set the standard or the truth. The standard is this determined by who ever is in power. No one denies 2+2=4 that is true. Truth can't be relative to situations it ceases to be truth if that happen. There must be a standard to set true mathematically or socially. The boldest statement ever made. Jn 6:14 Jesus said He is the truth..., Believing that sets you free from human opinion of any standard which changes
You assume much. That I only live a so call religious life for the “metaphysical reward” is not true.
The fact that my living for Christ Jesus will result in me having eternal life is not my motivation.
Jesus died to forgive my sin. I live to serve His purpose. He gave me abundant life. Jn 10:10 For this I thank Him and serve Him. We struggle with where you get your moral standard. Not that you dont have one. Pilot ask Jesus, “What is truth?” So, who or what determines truth or standard?
You speak of history and the things man has done in the name of God and the Bible.
I don't deny people are screwed up as a matter of fact I rally behind you in that assessment.
That's kind of my point. I don't follow man's opinion. God never ordained it. Societies have and man has for his own purposes, but God no. John 8:36 If the son has set you free you are free indeed. And women... He honored them even let Mary be the first witness of His resurrection. May I share are discussions in a grp?
religion should be the base of civil liberty, not the adversary.
parts of the bible were written to gain support for the actions of any country.
if god wanted people to starve, there wouldnt be enough proper soil, if god wanted slavery, then one race would be able to take control. if god wanted children of earth to fight kill and terrorize each other, then we wouldnt have a conscience.
This has been great talking to you. I truly appreciate your point of view. Your right I do feel my standard comes from God who first gave it at Mt. Sinai just after freeing His people from slavery. So your standard comes from your self and your value on human life. Good to know that you are pro-life. I'm glad your not Hitler in Nazi Germany and I not a Jew if that is how your get your standard. I'm also glad to hear you quoting scripture. do to others what you would have them do to you.Mat. 7:12
The root of the problem is God. The Christian religion bestows ultimate power and authority to this figure so that the position is unassailable in their own mind. Very rarely is it that anyone who is an actual "believer" is convinced of the error of their dogma and brainwashing without some catalyst. I find that this catalyst is typically exposure to the very things which the religion condemns.
Who accepted slavery? It wasn't God. Where do I get my moral standard? That was my question. So I will tell you mine you tell me yours. My moral standard is I Peter 1:16 Be ye holy; for I am holy. When I used to live by my moral standard I was a mess. I was selfish, uncaring of other and would have thought people so different from me were all stupid. I don't now that I have accepted God's love and standard. I am still not Holy but when God sees me He sees His son not me.
@Gatdog67 I was pointing out that you had no reason to brag that you got your moral standard from the Bible because it has a lot of disgusting evil, immoral stuff in it by today's standards. It wasn't your "creator" who came up with that moral standard by the way, it was human society. But I'm sure you disagree with me on that one. I have morals and believe in right and wrong because I value human life and have empathy for others. Treat others the way you want to be treated etc.
The bible condones slavery. Many a Baptist preacher in the early 19th century spoke and wrote about how slavery was ordained by god and good for the black man. Anglican ministers said the same in the 18th century.
That you ignore history that is there for you to read and learn from is your problem.
How to beat your slaves, how your women beneath you and not equals (and how to beat THEM) is all spelled out in that book. By today's lights, socially unacceptable.
Yes sir, All the things you mention are true. They seem harsh I agree but there must be consequences to breaking the law or the law has no effect. Great thing is that in God's plan his son took our payment of those consequences by being a sacrifice for our sin. Sadly in the name of Christ Christians have taken the role of judge and executioner and done some of the things you mentioned. Question, if not a standard set by our creator, whose standard do we follow?
It doesn't matter whether Santorum *is* a bigot: it is too easy to derail that. His speech and actions promote bigotry. His speech and actions are bigoted. To paraphrase Jay Smooth, we can use his actions to draw conclusions about what kind of person he is, but it just doesn't matter. We don't need to see inside his mind to know that what he says and does is bigoted.
What matters is holding people who engage in bigoted discourse accountable for the impact of their words and actions.

Welcome to the bigot band. If 2000 years is not enough. Where do you get your moral standard. I know you have one. Would you like it if some one took all your stuff because they had no standard? Would you like to be lied to all the time? Do you like to be cheated on? Do you like your child to honor you? Would you be offended if someone was murdered? God gave us these standard because He loves us and wants the best for us. BTW you are off by about 4000 yrs on how long we've had the moral law.
I don't understand why religious people seem to believe that an atheist cannot have moral standards, because we hold no faith in the promise of a metaphysical reward for being a good person? I don't know about you but personally being a good person is it's own reward, i don't need an incentive. That CANNOT be hard to believe...
@Gatdog67 Morality is an evolved intellectual concept, not a "gift" from a supposed deity. Religion is a tool to reinforce certain moral and ethical standards, that doesn't make it the origins of morality, and by no means is it the best way to teach morality! You don't need gods or bibles for there to be a difference between right and wrong.
@DonnieSeriously If you don’t need an objective standard of morality by which you can determine what is right or wrong, then how do you know that what you think is right and wrong really is right and wrong? If you say you got your objective standard of morality from society, then what justifies the idea that society is the proper place to obtain a standard of morality?
@Gatdog67 If the only morals that you understand are those which the bible tells you result in a punishment by your god, how do you know whether or not to electrocute people? How do you know whether or not to rape? How do you know whether or not to arrange a marriage between a child and an adult? And don't say "common sense," because for the rest of us, common sense makes it obvious that we should not murder, cheat or lie.
@cthulhusmom You have subjective and objective morals. Objective moral come from outside yourself. Subjective morals are those that depend on you, your situation, culture, and your preferences. They can change, become contradictory, lead to anarchy. Do you completely reject objective morals? Is this what you are saying? The argument you are offering is weak intellectual reasoning.
@miket1m Unfortunately, I am not able to argue without using my intellect, or I would probably agree with you in the first place. There is no such thing as objective morality- morality is a human construct and therefore can only exist subjectively. There is no precedent for or logical reason to believe that moral change results in anarchy. By the way, the bible is less than 500 years old. The stories within claim to catalog older events, but they were written after the fact
@cthulhusmom No such thing as objective morality? Okay, lets examine this. So what you are talking about here is moral relativism. So you are one of those who profess that all points of view are true, yet reject those who profess absolutes in morality. Kind of hypocitical, don'y you think? What you really mean is that all points of view are true except for the views that teach moral absolutes, an absolute God, or absolute right and wrong. Am I right?
@cthulhusmom If society is what determines moral truth, then how is this not committing the logical fallacy of begging the question by saying that a society determines what is right and wrong because a society determines what is right and wrong?
@cthulhusmom We have manuscripts dating back to that time. EX: the Dead Sea Scrolls. Examined by scientist and dated. You don't know what you're talking about. We have a lot of manuscripts that are dated back to these times. The Bible is authentic and is 98.5% textually pure.
@halleyscomet Where do you think that thought came from to begin with? The Bible is also more than 6000 years old too, moron. Don't talk about things you don't understand it makes you look like an idiot. Just saying.
*sigh* All of you clowns in the lgbtqfaerasasdasdaswhatever crowd love throwing those silly terms around as loosely as possible, even if there's a minor disagreement with you or minor disgust. Being opposed to someone for their character, desires, or conduct doesn't truly qualify as bigotry though. The fact that you think it does though shows arrogance and ignorance on your part.
Nobody should have a problem being called a bigot though. It's not an insult. Hell, I take pride in it.
@evanstoler Bigot- a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance. - Merriam Webster's
Homophobes fit that definition pretty well, you can't just change the meaning of words so it doesn't apply to you, lol.
Also gay people have every right to "throw those terms around" considering these people are imposing their own religious/moral beliefs on society.
@Thironfalls The thing is is that the terms gay and straight aren't as clearly defined as they're made out to be. They get interpreted in a bunch of different ways. Countless people have been called gay for a variety of reasons even if they have reasons to try and refute it.
Bigot gets used towards bashing things that don't change. If it's just about hating members of a group (i.e. Christians, Democrats, criminals), then everyone on the planet including ZJ can get called a bigot.
@evanstoler In terms of sexual orientation straight means liking the opposite sex, gay means liking the same sex. The reason so many people get called gay, is that "gay" and all its forms (fagot, homo, dyke) is the ultimate insult. A byproduct of homophobia (bigots) and the reason so many gays feel alienated from society.
@evanstoler You mention that people can be bigots against Christians. Yeah, that's true but can you imagine an America where a significant portion of the population believed that Christians shouldn't marry, or adopt, or that being Christian is a significant enough reason to refuse service to someone, or fire them from their job? Imagine politicians who imposed this "morality" onto society in the form of laws. I think Christians would have a right to be pissed off, don't you?
The more I watch your videos, the more I respect your words.
Besides, under the constitution: "Freedom and justice FOR ALL" negates any excuses these people may have to justify their intolerance. "FOR ALL" includes gay people, whether THEY like it or not.
Everything else they say, whether it be quotes from the bible to "die faggot" are just wasted breath.
Damn I love your vocabulary. I try to increase mine everyday. Your argument hit the nail on the head. It's funny how homophobic people react to same sex relationships but they do some pretty weird shit themselves (you know since being gay is disgusting to them).
@Sustenance21 I said nothing about his/her argument. I never heard it because he/she is too gross to look at. Your comment reflects how you cant even understand a simple sentence correctly, how pathetic.
@cincinatus90 This coming from the guy who used "your", instead of the then correct form of "you're". My god. I've just been insulted by a mental midget.
If you're unable to watch or listen to someone because of their physical characteristics, then that generally means you're not completely open minded to the idea that not everyone looks as fucking gorgeous as you obviously believe yourself to be. Which, in all fairness, means your detracting from their argument, as you never heard them out.
@Sustenance21 Nope, same as i said before. Nothing to do with his/her argument, just couldnt take the way he/she looked. So thank you for not being able to understand simple sentences twice now. And keep correcting me on you tube comment section punctuation and grammar, it makes you look even more pathetic than you have proven already.
@cincinatus90 "And keep correcting me on you tube comment section punctuation and grammar, it makes you look even more pathetic than you have proven already."
"Your comment reflects how you cant even understand a simple sentence correctly, how pathetic". So...wait, what? You're kidding me right? If I look pathetic, you look equally as pathetic based on your logic, no?
@cincinatus90 "Nothing to do with his/her argument, just couldnt take the way he/she looked".
"as you never heard them out."
......
I define that as detracting, I dunno maybe it's just me. Even if it is though, "too disgusting to look at or listen to" does kind of sound like a detracting statement in of itself. So, there you go.
@cincinatus90 Then read the transcript instead. (link in the description)
Problem solved.
Well actually the really problem is your social ineptitude, but if someone is imbellic enough to ignore perfectly valid points for the sake of thier social prejudice against transvestites/people they deem unattractive, I doubt there is much reason can acheive.
Another well written and perfectly read essay! Your logic is flawless as usual, but I fear you're addressing the kind of people who will never pay any attention to common sense. But I love it!
Three posts below is a very socially enlightening post by none other than HardonZ. A self-made spiritual giant. He's a logical independent thinker with lots of original thoughts. He's brave too. If you don't believe me, just ask him. Why, he's not afraid of anything other than eternal suffering. That's why he's not gay. The bible told him not to be gay, so doggone it, he's not gay. It says it right there in LUDICROUS 4:20. HardonZ, thou musteth not give in to gay temptation. So, every time Hard
"You are not that important" ...Taking a dick in your ass does not make you special nor important either. We have seen minorities hide behind the minority shield before. "If you disagree with me you're homophobic and a bigot"
Gays do not want equality, they want special treatment and attention. Google image "gay parades" and thats all that needs to be said.
Gays need to be eradicated. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop arguing over it. Not only is religion against you, but so is science. Being gay is a genetic screw up that was never meant to be.
People are should be entitled to marry whoever they intend to naturally conceive a child with. See? I'm not prejudice. I'm a logical independent thinker who fears nothing except damnation of my soul which is why I don't do what the Bible says not to do. Everyone else can do what they want. It is not I who condemns. - HARDON Z
People being gay is one thing, but guys changing themselves into women and still being with a guy kind of cancels out the whole point of being gay, doesn't it? That's just pretty much saying that you think girls should be with guys, which is a hetero relationship.
@xxoxia No, it really isn't. Being trans* isn't about changing yourself to be counted as heterosexual. It's not "saying" anything besides that they identify as a certain gender.
@xxoxia Transgender persons aren't homosexual. This is a common misconception. Gay is sexual attraction to your same gender-identity. Transgender is gender-identifying with the opposite gender as the body you were born in. TGs are sexually attracted to the opposite of their gender-identity and, therefore, heterosexual. I've never heard of a TG also being homosexual, but I'll allow it's possible.
@fieldcommandereyesin There's no need for that kind of self-deprecation, but I suppose if you're going to do it, referring to yourself in the third person may confuse some people. You see, one would almost believe you were referring to ZJ, but it's painfully obvious that the only one spewing vile garbage here is you...

I never understood why gays and Christians don't get along. I mean, they are both losers. You would think that they went together like strawberries and cream. Go figure, eh?
@hanksnow82 how does it not? It allows for a stable relationship. Protection of marital assets. Insures that both individuals have a care taker for health issues and old age. I helps decrease risky behaviors by the individuals, as shown by studies. Other then producing a biological child, that is it. Additionally they can still raise a child. Specifically a child that tends to excel, mainly because they are worried about bigots judging their family.
@TMBrd89 There is no empirical evidence that shows homosexual marriage allows for a stable relationship and a lot of anecdotal that points to the opposite . Homosexual marriage has NO effect or bearing on elder care in anyway . Please show me any study that claims homosexual marriage decreases risky behaviors by individuals as i believe your just shovelling shit now and this would be a benefit to the individual not society . The facts are children do best when raised with a mother and a father .
@hanksnow82 Yale's sterling professor, Nancy Cott professor of American History, who has specialized in marriage. Stated in the 2010 Proposition 8 marriage trial, that marriage "helps to decrease the risky behaviors of both individuals." "This has been shown to be in both Connecticut and the Netherlands."
She went on to say, " homosexual couples benefit from marriage by one serving as the care giver for the other during illness."
@TMBrd89 Homosexual activist Nancy Cott can state the moon is made out of cheese but that does not make it so . If your not going to cite studies don't bother to mention them because its pointless . No one said anything about homos benefiting other homos the discussion was does homosexuality benefit society . You have failed to show any benefit to society in anyway from homosexuality . Quite obviously i am right and you are dead wrong .
@TMBrd89 Lets make one thing clear you're not my friend and Nancy Cott is nothing more then just another homosexual activists . The facts are there is no benefit to society from homosexuality only negatives and that you are unable to refute .
You are a christian activist which puts you on par with a white supremacist..... actually their both synonyms. Uh yeah I can refute that with COMMON SENSE! A heterosexual couple without children benefits society the same way. By creating a stable support group for both individuals. Allowing for two incomes to their house hold.
You are just too stupid to see it. I guess you are blinded by your own ignorance, Jezusfreek
@TMBrd89 There is one problem with your hypothesis , i'm a atheist and i don't believe in fairy tales about imaginary people in the sky . You seem to be too stupid to understand the difference between homosexuality and a homosexual and why the arguement you make while specious as it applies to homosexuals has no bearing on the fact that homosexuality has no benefit to society and therefore society should not endorse or sanction it .
@TMBrd89 Where you home schooled ? The negative societal effect of polygamy is the creation of a class of men who can't find wives. There are roughly equal numbers of men and women in the world. Every time a man takes 4 wives, 3 other men can't find one. In places where polygamy is common, those numbers can quickly add up to 15-20 percent of the population.
Polygamy is most common is places where women don't have civil rights or get an education, hold a job, own property or vote .
@imN0Ttheone Thanks for being retarded. When I said I would test you reasoning. Supporting polygamy was what came out of YOUR IDEA. You just proved my point.... dumb ass.
@imN0Ttheone Yeah it doesn't make sense to people with low IQs. Its called reductio ad absurdum. Funny part is that it has you arguing against your own points.
You shouldn't call yourself an atheist. You are embarrassing to the name.
@TMBrd89 I doubt the problem is my 142 IQ . I believe your problem is that you have absolutely no idea how to respond to the fact homosexuality has no benefit to society . You try to figure that out and come on back when you have an answer .
@imN0Ttheone ...Homosexuality provides at least one definite benefit to society--from an evolutionary stand point--it would have had the effect of lowering the number of actively reproducing members of a society, creating a bit a a natural check on over reproduction.
@TMBrd89 Lets make one thing clear you're not my friend and Nancy Cott is nothing more then just another homosexual activists . The facts are there is no benefit to society from homosexuality only negatives and that you are unable to refute
I think that this is not just about moral progress but the argument that says "it has been [taught to be] this way for ____ years so it cant be wrong", but for how many years was it taught that the earth was flat? Or that the sun revolved around the earth? Just because something has been taught a certain way for hundreds or thousands of years does not make it correct, in this case social change determines right and wrong, however it goes to show just how invalid this argument really is.
if i was your dad and if your a guy i would beat the living crap outta you for being transgender i was raised were guys were guys and girls were girls guys were supposed to be tough not touchy touchy but hey thats the way i was raised old school baby
@laserguy815 Yes, and that upbringing certainly has made you into a wonderful human being. You now hate people who are comfortable and happy with who they are, want to beat them up for it, and to top it all off, you don't know where to put punctuation in sentences. Kudos to those who are responsible for your amazing upbringing!
@laserguy815 Congrats, you were raised in a climate that was sexist, heteronormative, and steeped in violence. What kind of world is it where a father would beat his daughter because she was born in a male body? Some people were raised in a time when black people were slaves, and they were regularly beaten for no good reason. Using that to justify doing the same today would be ridiculous. Same applies for you. Racism, sexism, and good old disregard for human life? THAT'S "old school", baby.
@Tamugetsu stfu the way you expressed old school is when i was born not in history ok i dont need no damn lecture on history thats why i go to school moron
"i would beat the living crap outta you for being transgender"
"i dont need no damn lecture on history thats why i go to school"
Your school hasn't given you what you need: a moral compass. Neither has your upbringing. So yes, you do need a lecture. You are desperate for a lecture. That's likely why you're here. The other reason may be that you're trolling.
Of course you don't. You were raised that way. That doesn't make it right.
You can change for the better, but it means admitted that lots of mistakes were made in your past. And please don't claim that you're a better person for it. Your mindset as you've expressed it here is testament to an unhealthy and violent demeanor. Good luck.
@saites00 What a por mind set... how the messenger looks like is irrelevant, the important is the message; if you are more concerned on how the messenger looks like that's too bad, have you ecven considered the argument? I can suggest a good way to consider the argument given, listen but don't watch the sfcreen... myabe then you star thinking properly...
@saites00 If you want to avoid seriously hurting the feelings of people who don't conform to traditional ideas of gender, you're going to need to learn to worry less about genitals. Sorry, but sometimes your body doesn't match who you are, and sometimes societal norms contradict what you like to do. The only reason makeup and dresses are considered feminine is because society says so. If history had gone differently, they could be considered masculine.
... OH MY GODS THIS IS PERFECT AND SO ON TOPIC RIGHT NOW!!
There's a pastor complaining that his church was denied funding for expanding their community-center because of his anti-gay posts on the internet (on the church's site).
He's made the whole "2000 year old morality!" argument as well as the "it's not about being gay, it's about gay sex" argument and argues that he's facing oppression for his religious beliefs.
Continued - There should be a hell of a lot more to a person and life than simply the gender one is attracted to. Gay shouldn't be a political cause, it should be a life seeking happiness. No, life isn't always fair and you aren't always going to get what you want when you want it. No, people aren't going always like you and they don't have to. Homosexuals haven't had so much in their favor since ancient Greece. Appreciate what you have. Relax, acceptance will come. Thomas
@tdfisk So I take it you would be happy to keep your mouth quiet if you were prevented from visitng your dying spouse in a hospital? If you had no say in whether they were kept on life support or not? If you weren't able to share your health benefits with your spouse, while your co workers were allowed to share their benefits with their spouses? If you weren't able to bring your spouse with you if you immigrated to another country? If you could be evicted because your partner is the same sex?
@MissTemperence Give me a break, you were just a baby when that happened. It was in the 80's when they developed patient rights that included proxy for medical care. As to those other things, you have no idea how far homosexual rights have come. You think these are terrible injustices? I lived when there were injustices like beating homosexuals to death, sometimes by police. The world is full of injustice and these are of the least harmful. They can be corrected by using reason.
@tdfisk All those things are still happening. Without the protections of marriage, you have no right to any of marital benefits I mentioned. It is perfectly legal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, except in areas that have specific laws against such discrimination. One is not protected from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation on a national level in the way we are protected from discrimination based on religion, gender, age, race, etc. (cont)

@miket1m Of course evolution as well has played a large role in the development of our subconscious moral compass.
DonnieSeriously 3 days ago
@miket1m Morality is totally dependent on cultural/environmental/situational variables. We as a society determine what is acceptable and what is not in our present place in time. Otherwise, what was right or wrong a thousand years ago would be right or wrong today, which we all know is NOT the case.
DonnieSeriously 3 days ago
@miket1m So we're trying to label a shade black or white, when in reality we know that we have an entire myriad of color classifications, to believe in such a binary system is dooming yourself to a narrow view of reality. There is no such thing as objective rightness or wrongness. We can call things more right, or more wrong for particular situations, but what's right in one situation, won't be right in others.
DonnieSeriously 3 days ago
@miket1m By "objective morality" of course I'm talking about a concrete, unyielding concept of what is right and what is wrong outside of the parameters of a given situation. (akin to commandments, universal deity laws, ect.)

I discriminate all the time, and so do you.
miket1m 5 days ago
2.
In things like these, I don't discriminate.
miket1m 5 days ago
3.
I would agree that someone should not be fired from a job (in the secular realm) because he or she is homosexual. I think that is wrong, not because it is based on sexual orientation, but because we should treat everyone as equally as possible. Also, because of my religious beliefs and my right to express them, I would not promote homosexuality nor would I change so as not to "offend" those who think that having sex with people of the same gender is perfectly normal and morally acceptable.
miket1m 5 days ago
4.
By whose standard is something right or wrong and what justifies that standard as being valid?
miket1m 5 days ago
5.
If you say that condemning homosexuality as a sin is morally wrong, then on what basis does such a statement gain its moral objectivity by which a blanket condemnation can be made? If you say that the majority of society determines what is morally right and wrong, that is called the fallacy of Argumentum ad populum. Just because a majority of people think something is right or wrong doesn't make it right or wrong.
miket1m 5 days ago
6.
I am not a bigot because condemning homosexual practice as a sin is not discriminatory in a legal sense, but it is one in a spiritual sense, and that is alright.
miket1m 5 days ago
5.
When someone objects on moral grounds to my objections or other Christians condemning homosexuality as a sin, he has no objective moral basis by which he can make such an assertion. At best, all he is doing is giving his opinion and it would be arrogant to think that his opinion is the standard or morality for everyone else.

@EvesUnderground I'm a Christian and I find atheists to be more close minded. I admit what I believe is out of faith. I know that there's a chance that I could be wrong. most atheists deny that possibility. they believe they are without a doubt correct that there is no God or higher power even though it's impossible to prove if there's a higher power or not. out of Christians, agnostics, muslims, hindus, and bhudists - atheists are the most rude and intolerant of other peoples views.
conservatiive456 3 weeks ago

@EvesUnderground the Christians sending those threats can't honestly call themselves Christians. Jesus put an end to the perspective of the old testament.
Gatdog67 1 month ago
You assume much. That I only live a so call religious life for the “metaphysical reward” is not true.
The fact that my living for Christ Jesus will result in me having eternal life is not my motivation.
Jesus died to forgive my sin. I live to serve His purpose. He gave me abundant life. Jn 10:10 For this I thank Him and serve Him. We struggle with where you get your moral standard. Not that you dont have one. Pilot ask Jesus, “What is truth?” So, who or what determines truth or standard?
Gatdog67 1 month ago

Gatdog67 1 month ago

Gatdog67 1 month ago
@Gatdog67 I was pointing out that you had no reason to brag that you got your moral standard from the Bible because it has a lot of disgusting evil, immoral stuff in it by today's standards. It wasn't your "creator" who came up with that moral standard by the way, it was human society. But I'm sure you disagree with me on that one. I have morals and believe in right and wrong because I value human life and have empathy for others. Treat others the way you want to be treated etc.
Thironfalls 1 month ago
@Gatdog67

Gatdog67 1 month ago
It doesn't matter whether Santorum *is* a bigot: it is too easy to derail that. His speech and actions promote bigotry. His speech and actions are bigoted. To paraphrase Jay Smooth, we can use his actions to draw conclusions about what kind of person he is, but it just doesn't matter. We don't need to see inside his mind to know that what he says and does is bigoted.
What matters is holding people who engage in bigoted discourse accountable for the impact of their words and actions.

DonnieSeriously 1 week ago
@DonnieSeriously If you don’t need an objective standard of morality by which you can determine what is right or wrong, then how do you know that what you think is right and wrong really is right and wrong? If you say you got your objective standard of morality from society, then what justifies the idea that society is the proper place to obtain a standard of morality?
miket1m 5 days ago
@Gatdog67 If the only morals that you understand are those which the bible tells you result in a punishment by your god, how do you know whether or not to electrocute people? How do you know whether or not to rape? How do you know whether or not to arrange a marriage between a child and an adult? And don't say "common sense," because for the rest of us, common sense makes it obvious that we should not murder, cheat or lie.
cthulhusmom 1 week ago
@cthulhusmom You have subjective and objective morals. Objective moral come from outside yourself. Subjective morals are those that depend on you, your situation, culture, and your preferences. They can change, become contradictory, lead to anarchy. Do you completely reject objective morals? Is this what you are saying? The argument you are offering is weak intellectual reasoning.
miket1m 5 days ago
@miket1m Unfortunately, I am not able to argue without using my intellect, or I would probably agree with you in the first place. There is no such thing as objective morality- morality is a human construct and therefore can only exist subjectively. There is no precedent for or logical reason to believe that moral change results in anarchy. By the way, the bible is less than 500 years old. The stories within claim to catalog older events, but they were written after the fact
cthulhusmom 4 days ago
@cthulhusmom The Bible was written by 40 men in 1600 years It was finished in the 70's AD. That makes it older than 500 years.
miket1m 4 days ago
@cthulhusmom No such thing as objective morality? Okay, lets examine this. So what you are talking about here is moral relativism. So you are one of those who profess that all points of view are true, yet reject those who profess absolutes in morality. Kind of hypocitical, don'y you think? What you really mean is that all points of view are true except for the views that teach moral absolutes, an absolute God, or absolute right and wrong. Am I right?
miket1m 4 days ago
@cthulhusmom If society is what determines moral truth, then how is this not committing the logical fallacy of begging the question by saying that a society determines what is right and wrong because a society determines what is right and wrong?
miket1m 4 days ago
@cthulhusmom We have manuscripts dating back to that time. EX: the Dead Sea Scrolls. Examined by scientist and dated. You don't know what you're talking about. We have a lot of manuscripts that are dated back to these times. The Bible is authentic and is 98.5% textually pure.
miket1m 4 days ago
@Gatdog67 So, you can't figure out that murder is wrong on your own? You need a 6,000 year old book to tell you that?
You realize of course that your lack of an internal moral center is an indication that you might be a psychopath.
halleyscomet 1 week ago
@halleyscomet Where do you think that thought came from to begin with? The Bible is also more than 6000 years old too, moron. Don't talk about things you don't understand it makes you look like an idiot. Just saying.

Thironfalls 1 month ago
@Thironfalls The thing is is that the terms gay and straight aren't as clearly defined as they're made out to be. They get interpreted in a bunch of different ways. Countless people have been called gay for a variety of reasons even if they have reasons to try and refute it.
Bigot gets used towards bashing things that don't change. If it's just about hating members of a group (i.e. Christians, Democrats, criminals), then everyone on the planet including ZJ can get called a bigot.
evanstoler 1 month ago
@evanstoler In terms of sexual orientation straight means liking the opposite sex, gay means liking the same sex. The reason so many people get called gay, is that "gay" and all its forms (fagot, homo, dyke) is the ultimate insult. A byproduct of homophobia (bigots) and the reason so many gays feel alienated from society.
Thironfalls 1 month ago
@evanstoler You mention that people can be bigots against Christians. Yeah, that's true but can you imagine an America where a significant portion of the population believed that Christians shouldn't marry, or adopt, or that being Christian is a significant enough reason to refuse service to someone, or fire them from their job? Imagine politicians who imposed this "morality" onto society in the form of laws. I think Christians would have a right to be pissed off, don't you?

People being gay is one thing, but guys changing themselves into women and still being with a guy kind of cancels out the whole point of being gay, doesn't it? That's just pretty much saying that you think girls should be with guys, which is a hetero relationship.
xxoxia 4 months ago
@xxoxia No, it really isn't. Being trans* isn't about changing yourself to be counted as heterosexual. It's not "saying" anything besides that they identify as a certain gender.
TheGnomeNome 4 months ago
@xxoxia Transgender persons aren't homosexual. This is a common misconception. Gay is sexual attraction to your same gender-identity. Transgender is gender-identifying with the opposite gender as the body you were born in. TGs are sexually attracted to the opposite of their gender-identity and, therefore, heterosexual. I've never heard of a TG also being homosexual, but I'll allow it's possible.

Homosexual marriage has no benefit to society so why would the state endorse it or sanction it ?
hanksnow82 4 months ago
@hanksnow82 how does it not? It allows for a stable relationship. Protection of marital assets. Insures that both individuals have a care taker for health issues and old age. I helps decrease risky behaviors by the individuals, as shown by studies. Other then producing a biological child, that is it. Additionally they can still raise a child. Specifically a child that tends to excel, mainly because they are worried about bigots judging their family.
TMBrd89 4 months ago 2
@TMBrd89 There is no empirical evidence that shows homosexual marriage allows for a stable relationship and a lot of anecdotal that points to the opposite . Homosexual marriage has NO effect or bearing on elder care in anyway . Please show me any study that claims homosexual marriage decreases risky behaviors by individuals as i believe your just shovelling shit now and this would be a benefit to the individual not society . The facts are children do best when raised with a mother and a father .
hanksnow82 4 months ago
@hanksnow82 Yale's sterling professor, Nancy Cott professor of American History, who has specialized in marriage. Stated in the 2010 Proposition 8 marriage trial, that marriage "helps to decrease the risky behaviors of both individuals." "This has been shown to be in both Connecticut and the Netherlands."
She went on to say, " homosexual couples benefit from marriage by one serving as the care giver for the other during illness."
Now who is right? You or a yale professor?
TMBrd89 4 months ago 9
@TMBrd89 Homosexual activist Nancy Cott can state the moon is made out of cheese but that does not make it so . If your not going to cite studies don't bother to mention them because its pointless . No one said anything about homos benefiting other homos the discussion was does homosexuality benefit society . You have failed to show any benefit to society in anyway from homosexuality . Quite obviously i am right and you are dead wrong .
hanksnow82 4 months ago
@hanksnow82 Dear friend,
You are an idiot. Surgeons perform surgeries because the are qualified to do so. That is why you can't perform open heart surgery.
Nancy Cott is a professor of Yale. She is well qualified and you are not.
You are not the professional here, and you are not educated on the topic. Therefore your opinion does not matter.
Any questions?
TMBrd89 4 months ago 2
@TMBrd89 Lets make one thing clear you're not my friend and Nancy Cott is nothing more then just another homosexual activists . The facts are there is no benefit to society from homosexuality only negatives and that you are unable to refute .
imN0Ttheone 4 months ago
@imN0Ttheone Okay, Well my dear retard.
TMBrd89 4 months ago
@TMBrd89 There is one problem with your hypothesis , i'm a atheist and i don't believe in fairy tales about imaginary people in the sky . You seem to be too stupid to understand the difference between homosexuality and a homosexual and why the arguement you make while specious as it applies to homosexuals has no bearing on the fact that homosexuality has no benefit to society and therefore society should not endorse or sanction it .
imN0Ttheone 4 months ago
@imN0Ttheone OH WOW, you are like a unicorn... one of the few atheist who is an idiot.
Okay fair enough. Let's play with your model, and see how "well" thought out it is.
1. Homosexuals don't benefit society.
2. Heterosexuals benefit society.
3. Increased chances of reproduction are beneficial to society.
4. Therefore polygamist are better for society then monogamous heterosexuals.
5. Therefore polygamy should replace monogamy.
Nope, not stupid at all.
TMBrd89 4 months ago
@TMBrd89 Where you home schooled ? The negative societal effect of polygamy is the creation of a class of men who can't find wives. There are roughly equal numbers of men and women in the world. Every time a man takes 4 wives, 3 other men can't find one. In places where polygamy is common, those numbers can quickly add up to 15-20 percent of the population.
Polygamy is most common is places where women don't have civil rights or get an education, hold a job, own property or vote .
imN0Ttheone 4 months ago
@imN0Ttheone Thanks for being retarded. When I said I would test you reasoning. Supporting polygamy was what came out of YOUR IDEA. You just proved my point.... dumb ass.
TMBrd89 4 months ago
@TMBrd89 LOL . You don't have a good grasp on reality do you ? Your response makes absolutely no sense at all .
imN0Ttheone 4 months ago
@imN0Ttheone Yeah it doesn't make sense to people with low IQs. Its called reductio ad absurdum. Funny part is that it has you arguing against your own points.
You shouldn't call yourself an atheist. You are embarrassing to the name.

@TMBrd89 I doubt the problem is my 142 IQ . I believe your problem is that you have absolutely no idea how to respond to the fact homosexuality has no benefit to society . You try to figure that out and come on back when you have an answer .
imN0Ttheone 4 months ago
@imN0Ttheone ...Homosexuality provides at least one definite benefit to society--from an evolutionary stand point--it would have had the effect of lowering the number of actively reproducing members of a society, creating a bit a a natural check on over reproduction.

I think that this is not just about moral progress but the argument that says "it has been [taught to be] this way for ____ years so it cant be wrong", but for how many years was it taught that the earth was flat? Or that the sun revolved around the earth? Just because something has been taught a certain way for hundreds or thousands of years does not make it correct, in this case social change determines right and wrong, however it goes to show just how invalid this argument really is.

if i was your dad and if your a guy i would beat the living crap outta you for being transgender i was raised were guys were guys and girls were girls guys were supposed to be tough not touchy touchy but hey thats the way i was raised old school baby
laserguy815 5 months ago
@laserguy815 Yes, and that upbringing certainly has made you into a wonderful human being. You now hate people who are comfortable and happy with who they are, want to beat them up for it, and to top it all off, you don't know where to put punctuation in sentences. Kudos to those who are responsible for your amazing upbringing!

laserguy815 5 months ago

"i get beat and i dont bitch about it"
Of course you don't.

DocStrange0123 5 months ago

I love you!

MissTemperence 5 months ago
@MissTemperence Give me a break, you were just a baby when that happened. It was in the 80's when they developed patient rights that included proxy for medical care. As to those other things, you have no idea how far homosexual rights have come. You think these are terrible injustices? I lived when there were injustices like beating homosexuals to death, sometimes by police. The world is full of injustice and these are of the least harmful. They can be corrected by using reason.
Thomas
tdfisk 5 months ago
@tdfisk All those things are still happening. Without the protections of marriage, you have no right to any of marital benefits I mentioned. It is perfectly legal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, except in areas that have specific laws against such discrimination. One is not protected from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation on a national level in the way we are protected from discrimination based on religion, gender, age, race, etc. (cont)
