My budget is like 300 bucks, would a slash be a good choice? I already have an e maxx and love it so I want something that is not the same. So what do you think would be more fun a 1 16 or 1 10 and so you think if i get 1 10 should I wait and save for a vxl
@MrLevergun To clear the tires, as they are 2.2 Moab tires in the M3 compound. I took them off my crawler too get better traction and as my epic beadlocks came off the bead of the tire, and didnt want to spend half an hour - hour re-seating the bead.
@BrandonANDBrantonTV Because it would be useless to have a pair of paddles just laying around when I dont go to the beach very often, let alone with my rigs.
@TheSantacruzmtb There are 3 Versions of the 4x4. The RTR, The Platinum, & The Ultimate. Do you mean the RTR and Ultimate? Beacuse all 3 are VXLs. The RTR is the base kit. The platinum comes with all the goodies, a clear body & doesnt come with a radio or battery or charger, so you can throw in your gear of your choice right off the bat. The Ultimate is the same thing as the Plat, except it comes with a prepainted body & comes with radio gear, a 7C battery & a cheap charger (just like the RTR).
@TheSantacruzmtb The slash 4x4 labled Slash 4x4 VXL is a 1/16th truck, that means it is significantly smaller. All the other ones (Slash 4x4, Slash 4x4 Platinum Edition and the Slash 4x4 Ultimate)are basically the same truck, in a larger 1/10th scale version except that the standard slash 4x4 has plastic parts and a controller, platinum has aluminum upgrades on it but no controller, and the ultimate has aluminum and a controller
@chubbychaser5 You see thats what I was afraid of when I was going to drive my truck on there. So I just grabbed a piece of cloth and hot glued it over the opening so it can still breath but not let much sand in. Did sand get in? Yes, but very minimal, and wasnt too bad to clean up even though I had to take apart the beadlock (what a PITA that was).
32 pitch gears? Are those the Robinson Racing ones? I am about to install a Velineon system in my Slash with paddles and Mohawks. I've thought about all of the spurs I'm gonna shred and the RR setup might not be bad! LOL.
@BCK1970 No they are not Robinson Racing ones. They are Traxxas ones. Jato 56T Spur Gear and Emaxx 14/15t Pinion gears. Just divide the spur by the pinion to get the gear ratio and try to match the gear ratio the best you can with a 48P Gear ratio. So for 23/86 48P would = 15/56 32P.
Nope, not at all. But I was also using a RPM Gear Cover at the time. Now I'm running 32P Gears w/out the gear cover because it wont fit with 32P Gears. But definitely a great upgrade.
You didnt answer my question. The Slash 2WD 1/10th scale does NOT come with the VXL. It comes with the XL-5 ESC and Titan Motor. The Slash 4x4 comes with the VXL. How much is the one youre looking at?
I think youre mistaken. If you can, take a look at the actual truck. Check the electronics, and see if the ESC says XL-5 and the motor says Titan 12t. The Slash with VXL would go for atleast $280. The rustler and Stampede are priced at that with the VXL, and theyre $20 less than the slash with the XL-5 and titan. Soo probably $300 if traxxas produced them.
thats a load of crap @thebaseball1919 Traxxas make some of the most durrable cars out their! and if you break it ten time in a month it means your a basher or you just cant drive. but in five hours run time id say your just a shitty driver and need some one to blame it on... like the rustler.
Thanks, But at the time I didnt have any other Spurs, and I only went with the same size everytime anyways. The problem has been fixed for a fairly long time now. I'm now running 32P gears, which are great by the way, and im threadlocking all my pinion screws now.
dont ever buy a rustler vxl. all i had with mine was problems. most of the problems werent even damage related and they were really annoying. i stripped the gear a billion times. burned up my esc some how with traxxas 7 cell axle came off in the middle of racing. dont get this car. its the worst investment ive ever made in my life. it was a ton of fun when it did work though. mine broke ten times in a month and now the car wont even turn on. I probably have 5 hours of runtime on mine.
@TheBaseball1919 hate to diss you, but are you on drugs??? ive had a rustler for a while now, race it every weekend with lipo packs. whatever brove was because I did somthing. rutlers are very durable and a great racer. traxxas didnt get its reputation overnight, they are a great company! smoke anything you wanna throw its way!
Actually, the VXL System does NOT come with a fan nor does the motor come with an internal fan with a heat sink. The titan 12t brushed motor does have an internal fan, but no heat sink and no fan for the xl-5 ESC. If looked inside the VXL motor before plenty of times, and there is no fan.
Sweet vid. I ran my old Losi jrxT with castle brushless and Thunder Power 5000mah 40c at the beach a few days ago. I like going in the off season tho. I am worried I will run it into a kid and end up getting into a fight with some pissed off dad.
was the sand where you were really loose? cuz the beach wher i go the sand is pretty loose and i want to know wether mine will work (i hav regular slash)
It just depends. They both go the same speed stock. But the E-REVO uses two batteries so it takes twice as long to charge them as if you were with one for the slash. The Slash is alot more fun and wont break many parts, but one or two things. You will wanna upgrade the rear bumper mount and gear cover to RPM. Those are the only flaws. But it all just depends on what youre gonna use it for and what type of terrain.
thanks for the fast response man, I think I want the slash too, alot of people where I live race them so its competitive. Thanks for the vid man, keep it up
for those slippery pinions, did you try some threadlocker on the screw? as a backup you could also try cutting a tiny slip of duct tape to put over the screw.
Its not really higher. You just have to match the gear ratio the best you can to 48P. 15/56 would be exactly equal to 23/86. But 14/56 isnt exactly equal to 21/86. And thats how you know how to gear it accordingly.
And I havent had as many pinions come off as I did with 48P or strip as many spurs. I definitely highly recemmend this inexpensive upgrade if youre running brushless. Threadlocker definitely does help, but I will try that duct tape trick.
ok, i see. see that duct tape trick worked for my slippery pinion screw thats why i recommend it. 1 more thing, do you know whats the best way to set your slipper clutch for? im still runnin the xl-5 & wanna know if i have to adjust it when i get the vxl.
I would recemmend it, because if you dont, its just gonna kill it. Tighten it down all the way or 1/4 turn from tight. You have to learn throttle control then.
no it doesnt. just make sure the diffs are shut tight, and that if youre still running brushed then get an outwearers motor cover that way sand doesnt mess up your motor. and charge your batts the night before, or in the morning of the day youre going, depending on how many batts youre charging.
