i am a big fan of steve earle and townes van zandt and have recently come across justin through your guys youtube channel. Just want to say keep bringing the music and if you have the time I would like for you to check out my song "Tennessee Borderline" on my youtube page (my accompanied guitarist is a little drunk). Let me know what you think if you check the song out.
I completely agree with him, why aren't artists like Justin, Ryan Bingham, Old Crow Medicine show and Christopher Denny getting more recognition. They make amazing music. They write it and perform it, They DESERVE it.
really, what happened to country music? where's the hanks, graham parsons, and waylon jennings nowadays? it's all just radio friendly bullshit now. well, there's some good country but why do i have to look for it instead of just hearing on the radion, oh yea nevermind, clearchannel.
modern "country" is so full of complete shit. I really do think anybody involved with the modern pop "country" of today and CMT should jump off a cliff and die so that people like Justin can actually make a living.
The point about what passes for country today is true; its basically soft rock...the fear of fiddles and steel guitars is still alive and well in Nashville....whats wrong with the studios there? So called alt country shows that there is a large audience for music that is closer to the bone. The idea that fiddles are unsophisticated is long gone, sin city should get back to what it does best.....or maybe it doesnt matter a s**t anymore anyway.
thank-you for posting this... He's one of the greats of today and destined to be the roots and tradition of tomorrow. I felt the spirit of Hank Sr. the first time I saw Justin play at the Exit Inn with the Swindlers
I dont know the name of the song. I saw him play it the other night in Chicago, though. He said that he's got a whole other albums worth of material to put out but Bloodshot said that it wasn't a good idea from a business standpoint to put out two albums back to back like that. Lame.
thats cool man,yea I will advice you get the album, you can only find 3 of their actual songs off the new record on their myspace and a few from the first record. Get both records if you can.
the first song he played thats untitled, is it titled yet?
