this has nothing to do with god. god didnt get up and start running again,Derek Redmond did. Some people have strong character and a never-say-die attitude which has nothing to do with god.
Heart determination to finish the race I say, he kept pushing no matter how much heart broken he lost that day. As he limped around the track, his father came waving to the medic to please get back..the son was in tears and in so much pain, the world will never forget the father and son 92 Olympic games. Never quit no matter what you do, this is an example of determination to follow through. They are winners in my book, I'm proud to say, It just a reminder, to always finish & never quit noway!
What hypocrites you all are! How can it be that God is responsible for giving Redmond and his father the courage to finish the race but is completely blameless for tearing his hamstring in the first place?
You people show the same hypocrisy whenever a couple of people survive a plane crash. You claim God is responsible for those survivors and performed a miracle. Why didn't he save the other hundred who died?
You insult Redmond by deciding his courage is explained by God.
can anyone give me a link or something where I can see this race without music playing in the backround. I wanna hear it like it was on TV with the anouncers and all of that

I remember running in a no name 800 meter race in high school and being pushed flat on my back by the guy behind me. When I got up it was too late, they were 100 meters ahead. I was so upset I cried great tears. I can only imagine that Redmond felt the same way amplified 100 times. It was great that the next day while taking a walk, feeling sorry for himself,he met his future wife who was out on a training run.
Oh wow and these religious hypocrites posting comments are hilarious, "plz don't mk fun of our belifs!!" and then you see an atheist state that god has no role in his life, and then the hypocrites insult him right back... good point!

Jaybee1600 pay no attention to the detractors, we can all expect to be persecuted for our Christian beliefs.
I remember this scene from the Barcelona Olympics vividly and it still causes me to tear up...a tremendous testament to Derek's character and his father's love for his son. I like your interpretation of it, even if some may be uncomfortable with it.
Great video ... ignore the moronic comments by people with nothing better to do than rant over someone else's beliefs when they would be up in arms if someone tried to tell them how to believe.
How does this not represent god you fall down 7 times get back up 8. everything that is happening now is in the bible the thing is people aren't reading. The west is on fire the middest is flooded and the east is in a drought. looks like someone is trying to get our attention
people, c'mon now. this is in no way at all imposing beliefs on anyone. if you dont believe in it, honestly, im very sorry for that. at least show some maturity and deal with it or watch some other videos, comments like that are unnecessary.
jaybee, this is a beautiful video. thanks for adding it.
I agree 110% with worldysaint. Derek Redmond's determination to finish the race is an inspiration to us all. With the help of his father, but most of all God, the almighty father, Derek completed the race. The song and use of scripture completed this video. It brings me to tears every time I watch it. God bless everyone! -Double Hook, Philippians 4:13

that poor kid put so much effort into his career. pulling up at 200 and finishing it anyway shows his courage and strength. I love it when his Dad tells that staff guy to fuck off...every runner or athlete for that matter should see and appreciate this video. I really makes me grateful to be able to run.
whats up with that jonathonpower6666 is that has something to do with the video? go get a life man...in Mexico or where ever and I´m from Mexico also oh...and a teacher whatever that means
this video is awesome. (i luv kutless). i love how his dad came and helped him out like God does for us. this video is a great picture of how God does help us.
Okay, just a comment on the argument that is going on below. mward5291 you may not hold any religious beliefs, but is it too much to just show some respect? That kind of intolerance causes as much pain and suffering as religion has. The video is inspiring and if some people want to use it as an allegory for God's relationship with mankind, is that a bad thing?
Intolerance? I also find it very indignant that they would try to put this on God. It is an insult to Redmond's personal and human courage and perseverance.
without God Redmond wouldn't have had any of that ability. I hope one day you get some respect for the God that created Redmond and us all. It kills me to see people write comments demeaning God's power. Everyone at some point in their life will face the realization of God, trust me, it took me a long time.
Look, that's alright if you believe in God and whatnot. I mean, some people NEED to believe in him/her/whatever. But you can't go around imposing your beliefs like some self-righteous, overzealous prick. Redmond did not just magically get his abilities and drive. He worked his ASS off to get to where he was, and that's why he didn't stop the race.. he just wanted to make sure that after all his effort, he would at least finish this race. It is just sad how YOU would demean the HUMAN spirit.
Sad how "I" would demean the human spirit. First off, i said nothing that demeaned his Human spirit. I could sit and argue with you back on forth, but it won't matter, your stuck in your empty beliefs. One day, I hope, you will come to the realization of a loving God, trust me, I was the same way for a long time. This video was good, but even Redmond acknowledges that God is the one who helped him succeed. I'll pray for you, that your eyes will be opened. God Bless!
"without God Redmond wouldn't have had any of that ability"
It's not like people are simply born with that ability. If I've worked my ass off just to get to where I am, I'd find it pretty damn demeaning if someone came and said something simply gave that to me. As to who's stuck on empty beliefs, well THAT'S rather arguable.
I think you misread what I'm trying to say.I'm not taking anything away from his hard work,I know the amount of hard work that goes into a sport. I played football for years, but had really bad knees, I had the heart for it, but my knees wouldnt let me keep going.God didn't bless me with the right physical tools to take it to he next level, and I accepted that. Some people are born with more ability, and Redmond was born with that. That doesn't mean he didnt work hard though, dont misunderstand
I believe that God gives people the potential to succeed at certain things, that he can work through them. To work for all of those years and to say that you didn't earn it isn't fair. You did you put in the time and the effort. But to say it was on your own isn't fair to God.
Your the only person who needs their eyes to be opened. You're a dumb shithead who needs to understand a man reaches the Olympics with pure determination and handwork. Never doubt that.
Grow up kid....nice job with the name calling....I'm proud of you, you can talk junk on internet!!! I never said that he didn't get there with determination and hard work....obviously you didn't read all I wrote....read everything before you make yourself look retarded!!!
Actually you inherently did.... saying God helped them get where they are is extremely rude and demeaning to all the hard effort they did. Go preach somewhere else you useless POS.
I'm being rude? You call me a piece of shit....and your gonna talk to me about being rude? HAHAHAHA...you have no credibility when you throw out hypocritical comments like that. Any person can sit back and throw out insults to someone when they don't have something intelligent to say....so go ahead and show me how smart you are by insulting me some more....I love the bravery of people talking junk on youtube.....it's so amusing.
Haha, I'm telling you to stop demeaning the accomplishments of others for your belief in God. Guess what, there are plenty of religions and attributing someone's achievements to that supreme being is absolutely rude to the athlete. And yes, if we met in real life I would insult you right in front of your face and I'd love to see you try something.
Apparently you have a problem with God or something which is fine man,I ain't gonna hate on you for that, cuz that's your opnion and I respect that..but you don't get what i said at all....I never demeaned his accomplishments AT ALL! I said that he worked hard and put in the time..your hatin on me cuz you don't like what I believe, which is pretty immature and sad. I respect if you don't believe like me.maybe you should try that one out.and threatening me isn't very smart cuz you don't know me.
@chrisEBpage all this video is, is a perfect parallel of what god did for us after we fell, he came and picked us up if we let him and he will carry us to the finish line of life if you will. god is everything to me and has completely changed my life despite me and i lift up his name in praise as my god ,king ,and friend and anybody who doesnt know him i dare you if you dont think he is real ask him to come into your life and show himself to you i promiss glory to god in the highest

what a great father, love watching this, this reminds me how much our heavenly Farther loves us. We are all made in the image of God, let us forget about religion and focus on relationship. Let us remember this "you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free"
I agree, even if Derek is a Christian, this moment has nothing to do with 'God' what so ever. It's about Derek's tireless efort, and his father trying to help him accomplish that.
Well, to voice my opinion on all that everyones said: No we havent met God or Jesus, but can you really prove that he doesnt exist. If someone could prove that Id convert, but you cant.

I respect if you don't believe like me.maybe you should try that one out.and threatening me isn't very smart cuz you don't know me.

what a great father, love watching this, this reminds me how much our heavenly Farther loves us. We are all made in the image of God, let us forget about religion and focus on relationship. Let us remember this "you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free"

what has god gonna do with this huh?

This has nothing to do with god, it just shows that his dad cares soo much for his son, that he wants to see his son succeed in what he does...

yeah kinda like how god cares so much for us and wants to see us succeed.

He doesnt exsist, religion just causes pain and suffering. Have you physicly met god or jesus? Didnt think so.

you cant regard something as none existing because of your lack of insight and therefore don't believe in it
