to everyone who bitches about homeless people...give me a break. you don't have to give them money or anything, but they have just as much right to be on this earth as you do, and they have to sleep SOMEWHERE! if you don't like it because it makes you uncomfortable/scares you, that's your problem, not theirs. just b/csomeone is homeless does not mean they are criminals, drug addicts, etc...in fact, i would be willing to bet there are plenty of "average citizens" that fall under those labels too.

This is a common thing that happens in every city. Police just arrest homeless people and put them into prisons. Isn't it ironic how society shelters, feeds and provides a level of care for criminals, but does not provide the same support for people whose only issue is that they are homeless?

@Sun6Tzu most of it is mental illness,these are the unwanted,unloved and forgotten.If u came from a caring family ud better be thankful for it cause there is nothing worse than bad parenting, it sets you on a path to homelessness, violent crime or insanity

@dsnfldgfds Thank you, I was incorrect, there are homeless shelters which feed, and provide the same level of care for these people while keeping their freedom. However perhaps the police should notify these people to go to these centers rather than arresting and processing them. I have first hand experience in all the things you have mentioned, you are only partial correct, in the end, the choice will always remain to the individual, when they realize, this is where they will find their hope.

@Sun6Tzu Absolutely our lives are up to us but when the thought patterns are disrupted and your head is filled with self defeating thoughts it makes it very difficult to go for help. Some may not even think they need help and they think that homelessness is a choice but it is actually in their heads.

. Unfortunately prisons and sanitariums are expenses of the tax payer with not any lobbying for budgets.I agree that it is the police' responsibility to set them on the path to help.

@dsnfldgfds I agree, it does not help when they use drugs or alcohol to alter their mood as well. The damage to the mental state causes the body to fatigue and overall causes them to have zero motivation. This makes alot of them end up using the hospitality of the system as a grant. This includes prisons for violent offenders as well, some enjoy the praise of male aggression as being a fighter or natural killer, along with the free rewards of shelter and food. Some will never change.

I am homeless and unemployed. I have been in Venice and the surrounding area. There is no overnight sleeping on the beach. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and I have recieved the free gift of the Holy Ghost. I was forced to. I have nothing but sorrow because of this forced cross. I have very little to look forward to. I cannot have a normal life because of what ever God is. Still I hope all of you who provoke and humiliate me are beaten, skinned alive and buried in salt.
