I've wondered if this kinda stuff is sometimes part of the act. Although there are times when I think it's real based on how pissed some of the bands actually get.
If there's no bottle thrower, then who's the poor guy that get's the lights shone on him for nothing? That would be real embarrassing and slightly dangerous.
@JIP1428 Since he's about 45 here, he's not doing any jumps, how do you know how much he drinks? (fifth not fith) You missunderstood my post, I'm talking about being in the audience and being accused of throwing something at the stage and the rest of the audience thinking that you are holding up the show. You don't need to defend these people it's a set up anyway, and they make enough money.
@quadralerium. Dave has been doing this exact act since the Fair Warning days. I've seen it multiple times. They turn the lights on, but not on anyone in particular. And he doesn't confront anyone in particular when he says all that stuff. It's just part of the show.
@MrUSAJAY agreed.... Plus in this day and age with you know.....? The INTERNET, YOUTUBE, etc. It's exposed the very first time he does the routine. Being a musician myself I know all about routines. But that kinda stuff you just can't do anymore. Bad thing is he still does it. Check out the reunion stuff with Wolfie. Same ole Dave. Don't get me wrong. I think he's one of the best. He just never really got any better.
@barkleyspider After watching many interviews with him, I've arrived at the same conclusion. I don't believe he is capable of ANY witty improv remarks, or he wouldn't have to rely on repeating the same pre-written adages and bullshit stories. Some repeated 10 or more years later! I don't know how the rest of the band can stand it. If you want to see him at his worst, check out the press conference at the US Festival 83. He's still an interesting man, but he has become lost in a contrived image.
@MrUSAJAY You are sure right about that one. He did the same exact thing, at the same exact time in the set, and said the same stupid shit. I love him but... DAMN! That shit is soooooo old.
@wjv4me to bad its not instant. He did the same exact shtick the night I saw him on this tour and the night after that and the night after that and the night after that..........
Diamond Dave is awesome! I tell you, the only band I got on my "big, spectaculairy, captivating, amazing hard rockin band to see before I turn 80" is David Lee Roth.
Nice hair extensions you Axl Rose wanna' be, but Axl Rose you'll never be.

@quadralerium Do you really think a guy who prances around with shredded skintight spandex
and leopard leotards is going to worry about something that may embarrass someone else?????
How many people do you know that would drink a fith and do a spread-eagle leap off of a drum riser?
I really don't think a little danger scared him either LOL

uhh mmm not to spoil everyone's fun..but there really is NOT a bottle thrower.
This has always been part of Dave's act...and a little over done at that. He
used this line all the time.

He handles the thrown bottle thing better than Axl. And people will throw stuff just to hear a good line or reaction.
