  • a++++++++++++++

  • I think with the digital techniques in stop motion these days, such as colour correcting and motion blurs, coupled with the level of sophistication stop motion is at now, I film with stop motion monsters and effects could look brilliant *cough*roncole*cough*

  • heh my teacher works at tippett, going to show him this, he might have had something to do with it since he use to do stop motion XD

  • What the hell..

What's wrong with the raptors tongue.. It's not a reptile, why is it doing that?

  • In the DVD commentary they discuss this, originally the filmmakers weren't sure if they should make the dinos more lizard-like or bird-like, so they tested it with the flicking tongue and came to the same conclusion you did.

  • Originally, For JP, They were going to do Phil Tippet's "Go Motion", A form of Stop Motion. Until Dennis Muren Showed Steven Spielberg A ILM/CGI Test Of T-Rex & Gallimimus running, Then they decided on CGI/ILM For The Dinosaurs.

  • correct

  • That`s amazing stop motion, incredible. This is how Jurassic Park (classic of classics) would have looked if CGI hadnt been developed enough.

  • this is one of the reasons of why i hate jurassic park : the finished with the stop motion monsters .

but at the same time i love it , is one of my favorite movies.

  • are you stupid? In my opinion monsters never looked as real as in JP, not even in Lost World or that third piece of shit.

  • gooooodddd

  • haha the people look like sumtin from robot chicken lol

  • how did they put the actors in? Computer ?bluescreen already?

  • This is just a test for the movie, like a story board. Watch the Making of and you will see

  • Are u sure? i think they ussed the same go -motion raptor puppets in the movie! I dont think this is a storyboard, its somekinda linetest.

  • yes he is

  • I'm blown away by how closely this matches the movie though.

  • Yeah the stop motion is way better than mos of the cgi seen today. Even though JP didn't use stop motion the use of animatronics with cgi made the movie great. Something I wish new movies would take a look at trying to achieve.

  • No. The dinosaurs in the final film were a blend of animatronics and CGI. There was NO stop motion whatsoever.

  • this is a storyboard , it's all explained at the dvd's from jp

  • This is a remake or a test run or something.

Something almost the same as blue screen had been used as far back as the 40's. The Birds used it heavily, for example.

  • they had bluescreen since 1960's

  • when they added the feathers to raptor in jurassic park 3, to me it was incredibly badass! oh yea the go motion animatics raptor scene was from the JP collectors edition

  • I like how because it was just a test you can see their stands.

  • Even though its choppy, something about the animation of a dinosaur with claymation is creepy. Don't know what.

  • Lmao the tongue.

  • this looks MUCH better than todays CGI!

  • It looks kinda amazing yet stupid. I understand why they used it to show a template of how this scene going to work, but imagine if they put that in the film.

  • Soo...they used this to show how the digital animators should model everything?

I wonder how long this took...

  • phil tippet - best animator

  • thats really good

  • That's some pretty impressive animation for an animatic
