Can anyone please tell me which is the best distributor available, I have two distributors one with double vacuum and the other with the centrifugal or I think is the one know as 009 dist..
This 76 bug I've been working on, I noticed the points and condenser are mounted opposite or 180 degrees different then in your video. Does that mean that someone mounted the distributor 180 degrees off? Or is it ok where it is? It seems to run ok, a little rough, though it's do for new points and cap n rotor anyways.
@viggoM35 Well I finished installing a new rotor, cap, point, intake, carb, intake boots, fuel filter, and fuel pump. Once it was re-timed it ran great. But unfortunately the owners that picked up the car didn't pay me for my efforts. Though later one of her kids backed it into a post and dented in the rear bumper and side panel. Also broke the tail light. Karma is a mutha fucka. lol
@neiloakleycaresI'M SURE YOU MEAN WELL, BUT SORRY, THIS IS SO SIMPLISTIC AS TO BE WORTHLESS TO ANYONE THAT KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT VW MOTORS. WAY TOO BASIC, YOU CAN GET MORE INFO FROM ONE PAGE OF ANY VW MANUAL. WHY DON'T YOU POST SOMETHING THAT GOES BEYOND THE BASICS AND REALLY WOULD HELP SOMEONE?
are u for real i supose that you know what you are doing don't think so i for a start the dizzy is set 180" out the condensers never need repaceing only when some body has repaced it with a happy shopper one, you can only guess with feeler gauges you need a dwell meter every time to do this operation, even then i would not put my name to as the dynomo fan mountain has been fitted wrong causeing the dynomo wire fittings to be in the incorrect place which causes over heating.
Hi looking at the dizzy on my engine, it would appear that the points are on the right of the dizzy shaft, unlike on the video, would this mean that the timing is set 180 degrees out ? and would I need to get the dizzy drive out, rotate it 180 degrees to get the timing easier to set, as I'm having right grief.

@viggoM35 Well point breaker in my bug is also installed 180 degrees opposite to this one and it was this way when I bought it. Its running smooth.
But I think what really maters is the proper installation of the ignition sequence that is 1432...
if you have the wires from the distributor to the plugs installed accordingly you will not have any problem
I am not an expert though but speaking according to my personal experience.
