Doris Day is a gift any love song. I think Previn brought out the best in her. This was a great duet of talent.

@wholzman2 This is a great album ... a great pairing ... no doubt about it. Can you believe that they recorded this whole album in 2 days ?! Amazing. Singers today take months, sometimes years to produce an album.

Doris singing with a trio or just a piano .. nothing better.

Jack Lemmon lamented that Doris had never done a Broadway show, opining that her dynamism would not have let anyone in the audience look at anyone onstage but her. He also said that while watching the daily rushes of their film, IT HAPPENED TO JANE, he found himself reacting to her as if he were a member of the movie audience seeing the film for the first time. That had never happened to him before.

@rioamigo I have to agree with him.... she would have been a magnet for the audience. She's that way on the screen ... one can only imagine what she would have been like on the stage. Funny .. I just answered your other comment and was saying this very same thing ! Too bad we didn't have the chance to experience her on Broadway.

That would have been soooo wonderful.

I've always read that she didn't like performing before a love audience. On this yrs. birhtday radio show she said she was sorry she didn't get a chance to do live shows. Because she was too busy doing movies and recording in the studio she didn't have time to do that and would have liked to. 1st time I've ever heard that ! What a shame - she would have been dynamic !

This is one of my favorite albums. It's great to hear Doris with a trio - no orchestra, no back up singers - just Doris and mainly Previn on the piano. Great album !
