on the gearbox issue mine was the throttle cable so buy a new one and have it set up by someone who knows what they are doing. now i can get sport mode properly
hi i have some question. my w123 200 always fail of tuning co.
every time i top up full tank of petrol early morning difficult to start up the engine. if the engine start running will come a bit black smoke.let the car warm up 2min then ok and smooth. if the petrol less very easy to start the engine .
@benzyeap ok buy(redex injector cleaner 500ml) for carburettor in your case,this is a 4 time application but you can put the hole bottle in a full tank of petrol for instant and extreme result and make sure you drive the car in high revs 3000 and over or you can rev it whilst stationary so the carbon deposits clogging the injectors can be pushed out thus causing less emissions(black smoke),better economy and a good cold start.
or according to what you said don't fill it up to the top!.
that i must admit is very weird.. are you sure your gearbox isnt broken or anything? put up a vid if you want, because ive never heard a 3 speed E 320..

i got sick of the damn magnetic shitty clutch, just took of the fan, glued 3 rubber o rings, and reinstalled, a bit slow to warm up but i dont care, i don't wanna spend much money in that car...
i had the pleasure of owning one of these great cars when i was 20 yo i wish i still had it i stupidly sold it to my grandad and he aint gonna part with it.damn!!
Great engines, i had ocassion to drive on my father's W124 with 230E engine, nice power, nice windy sound of this big fan :) and very clear oil when we take of a cover of valves ... nice :)
my fan was like that on mine check the electro magnetic clutch mechanism works on it,coz if it dont and ure stuck in traffic for a long while ule get a fright other than that they are longliving and reliable

I have a 4 speed (230E) and I do reach 230. But you must have a 4th gear too, MB didn't manufacture 3speed gearboxes.

Don't you mean you have a 3 on your automated gearbox? That's perfectly normal, but that doesn't mean there isn't a 4 ;)

no but manual is 5 speed and automatic is mostly 4 speed so the top speed is different, (this is on w124 and older mercs) :)

clean and nice engine :) this was the one witthout catalysator? then its the one with 136hp i guess..
my grandpa has the one with catalysator and it has 132hp but lol not any big number changes.. love w124 and will get one :P
