O'Donnell is making many false claims. What he doesn't want to understand, is that Mormons were anti-slavery, and were persecuted for going against slavery. The Mormons consider ALL people children of God, and served the black people and welcomed them into the church from the beginning. It was the burden and responsibilities of the Priesthood that the black men did not receive until the late 1970's. Big difference. Also, the Priesthood members do not get paid. Black or White. It is service.
And Joseph Smith was NOT pro-slavery, in fact, if he was honest, and he's not, Joseph Smith ran for president on an abolitionist platform.

I can take you to actual words and accounts of Joseph Smith that demonstrated he, as much or more than anyone, wanted slavery abolished, it was one of the platforms of Joseph's run for the presidency.

O'donnell does not know what he is talking about. The LDS church was not racist. They were never racists. In fact, Joseph Smith helped a black man back in the 1800s just to name one act of kindness towards Black Americans. The LDS church allowed all people into the Church before 1978.
