  • beautiful dance and song! but i just don t understand their clothing is totally not romanian, is traditional gypsy costume with those things on top like coins (as gypsies used to wear real golden coins)...Romanian traditional costumes are very beautiful handmade and if you guys know other traditional romanian dances...i recommend it because the long skirt of the women looks beautiful when they spin!! you guys should try it!!

  • very sympathetic people! and you dance well this Romanian dance!

  • SARBA MEANS Romanian folk dance

  • why are you dressed like the ''tigancile'' ( gipsies)??? this is an original Romanain folk dance and we respect our customs ...let's make the things very clear for everyone !!! you don't have to confuse people in your country letting them think that Romania is a TIGANIA .( GIPSYLAND) , OK ?!? ...we have never done that to you , we have never harmed you in any way or another !!! so ...I strongly suggest you that next time when you fel the push to dance a Romanian folk dance ,DRESS APPROPRIATE !!!

  • arde-o naeeeeeeee:)))

  • asta nu e sarba.

  • Sarba is a dance Romanians adopted from from old Serb presence in Romania...we in Serbia have a dance called "Vlaska", it is Serbian now but derives from Vlach/Romanians

Felicitari!

  • sarba is a dance specific from Romania

  • what does Sarba mean?can pls someone explain me ?i tried google translate and it says Sarba-Serbian????pls help

  • Sarba means Serbian, when used in a dance name it means a dance usual quick and fast that looks Serbian to the Romanian's, most of the dances called Sarba are usually Romanian.

  • Roy,Sarba does not mean Serbian, Sarba it's an romanian old word

  • @royisdancing this is not a sarba dance ! :)) maybe it's a medieval dance :)))

  • @royisdancing

ty for reply and explanation im much more acquainted with it now.Greetings for Serbia

  • @djuraivan sarba is a romanian traditional dance

  • Sarba it`s a fast dance more faster is Rusasca or slower is Hora it`s an romanian dance

  • @djuraivan "sarba" is an old dance in Romania danced by centuries. Nowadays we dance it at weddings

  • @djuraivan "sarba" is the name used for most of the romanian traditional dances that r danced in circle. and "batuta" means "beaten" ( probably cause u r beating with the feet on the ground with a high frequence ) :P

  • @djuraivan Sarba doesn't mean Serbian, is just the name of a folclorik romanian dance witch is much faster than the one from this video. We dance Sarba moustly at weddings, but also on a stage performance.

  • sarba is a dance from romanian folklor

  • @djuraivan Sarba has no meaning it's this genre, a genre of music. Moldova used for this wedding music or just have fun!

  • @djuraivan @djuraivan:.

    In romaneste ii spunem: Sîrbă

Tipul in camasa verde a prins cel mai bine miscarile! :)

In Romanian we call it : Sîrbă (pronounced aprox. "Sîrbah" - î is like i in pencil)

The guy in green shirt got the right moves! :)

  • @djuraivan That's what it means, It's a traditional Serbian dance. :)

  • the dance do not work with ur clothes. only the sound is romanian. but yes u look like gypsies which DO nOT mean romanian.

  • This was not a performance. We are not in costume, just in street clothes, with some party accessories. I taught this dance to the dancers that afternoon at a workshop that was part of the our weekend camp in the Sierra Nevada mounts in California. Because of the misunderstandings it has caused we have changed the name of the camp from Gypsy Camp North to Dance in the Woods.

  • @royisdancing im romanian, doesnt matter what u wera if u dance with joy....ure great ,all of you,i love the guy in green t shirt dancindg outside the dancers....he's awesome.....u all are great ...pitty i cant dance with u but i dance myself here infornt of my pc:P

  • Yes we know the dance is Romanian. You see it here being done by a group of American international folk dancers. We do these dances for fun. Romanian dances are quite popular with our groups and is one of the main nationalities that I teach. Most of the Romanian dances seen on this site were originally taught to us by Cristian Florescu

  • @royisdancing At least, you are keep trying, which is great and it's the key to succes.

  • @royisdancing

  • @dorutzu00009 "the gypsy problem" is sensible issue for romanians as you probably know. they have different culture, language, wearing etc etc but because they want confusion and inclusion they call themself rroma.

    Sanatate!

  • Degeaba v-ati pus voi zorzoanele alea , e MUZICA ROMANEASCA nu tiganeasca !

  • Bravo Roysdancing!

It's admirable you are proliferating the Romanian dances in the US.

You are doing a great job!

    Greetings from Romania!

  • Superb, only you didn't changed the tags, the romania and romanian tags are completely missing while there is gipsy everywhere, if you like gipsy music then listen and dance on shukar colective because this dance has nothing to do with the gypsyes.

  • Okay I have removed Gypsy Camp from the tags and added Romanian to both the tags and the info.

  • Great!!

    Go Romania!!

  • Romania e mama la toti! Dar nu vor sa recunoasca!

  • why are they dancing sarba at the gypsy camp?? sarba is not a gypsy dance, it is a romanian dance...

  • The name of our weekend dance camp was Gypsy Camp North. It is a teaching folk dance weekend in the California Sierra Nevada Mountains, where many types of international dance was taught and done. Because of all the misunderstandings produced by the name Gypsy Camp, we have change the name to Dance in the Woods.

  • @sweetdarling2007 sarba is a rhythm like any other. It does not originate in Romania, by the way. For instance Gipsy Kings play Rumba, which is a spanish rhythm, should they not be playing their repertoire? I am Romanian and I have danced the Texas 2-step. Gee... how could I?!! I am not a Texan. I've also danced the Italian Tarantella. Should I expect the mob to pay me a visit?

You people need to get a life with this "only Romanians can dance sarba & hora"

  • Marvellous! Greetings from a city in southern Transylvania(The European Cultural Capital of 2007)!

  • super faceti romania cunoscuta si prin lucruri frumoase super toata stima

  • hai Romania !!! nice dance

  • Acum se asculta Rihanna.

    Tiganca aia proasta si fitoasa.

Uite tata aici muzica 100% romaneasca.

    Prea tare.

Numai fitze...

  • interesant

  • Bravo!

    Wonderful job!!!

Living beautiful Romania through her marvelous dances!

  • Thank you to my veiwers in Romania who have made this video my most viewed video. Check out my channel for more video of non Romanians doing Romanian dances.

    Roy

  • Can you please inform as to whether this is a dance that can be applied to ANY Batuta or is it specific to Sarba Batuta? I have other Batuta melodies that I love to play but would only want to dance "properly" to them.

    Thanks!

  • no...there are many kinds of Sarbe: this is a slowly one( the majority of people can dance)...there are more: Sarba Rapida (quick), Batuta Moldoveneasca( the person who dance look like is falling and move his feet quickly), Invartita and many other... i am from romania and i dance this kind of "Batute"...but you have to feel this music in order to dance very well and the rest of the people stay and watch you in an admiration way.... sorry for my english..

  • Yes, the dance does seem to be easy to do. So, does the dance ONLY get danced to THIS music or can you do the very same dance with music that is similar in tempo? In Yiddish dancing, we do not need specific tunes. So, a freylekhs is danced to many different freylekh tunes. Israeil dances are specific to each song/tune. Now, how about Sarba Batuta? THANKS!

  • The dance was set to follow the melody, like a number of the other more modern Romann dances. If you can find another melody with a simular tempo and melody structure.

  • There is no "Sârba bătută". Is only "Bătută". And yes, you need a song/tune with certain beat to dance it. Bătută's tempos can vary. "Sărba" has another beat and also many tempos and is danced in another manner.

I hope my explanation was clear enough and helped. Good luck.

  • @klezmerflute no, each tune has its own way of being danced. there r lots of types of "sarba", depending on the geographic region variant, the way they r danced: slow, quick, beaten(batuta), switched, etc. and the tune varies, as well. :D . btw, you are doing a great job, you are fun and dance better than a big part of the romanians ( 70% of the romanians feels ashamed nowadays to dance traditional dances at their weddings or this kind of "traditional" events) ... congrads and best regards ;)

  • Very good!!

  • Congradulation...verry nice....

  • Excellent !!!

Is the music to this dance also called Sarba Batuta ? :-)
