  • Laura Marling is so BA.

  • Reminds me alot of Interference :)

  • I have never heard lyrics to songs as poetic and brilliant as Laura Marling's. Each of her songs is a masterpiece on its own.

  • What a great album name- i speak because i can , dose anyone know why she picked that name ? , i guess it is because she had the privallige to know some one who has trouble speaking so she appreciated speaking

  • Meant in the most positive, what a freak of nature... and do we ever need her.

  • Tried my best to nail a cover of this, think the song is brilliant, if any one would like to check it out, i appreciate it:):):):):):):):):)

  • lol i love her, but th thumbnail for this video was really scary hahahahahah

  • I LOVE her voice. :)

  • I think I've missed something in the video....What is the importance of the suitcase and the guy diving for it?

  • Love it

  • I'm a Ramblin' Man, and I'm not Johnny Cash.

  • The man gives the best 'music video' performance I've ever seen. What a brilliant song!

  • joni mitchell of the 21st century?

  • @nasireer I completely agree. I like how you can see how Laura is influenced by Joni, but definitely is an honest and fresh singer/songwriter.

  • What's in the suitcase?

  • "My children will live just to grow old."

  • this song is my life, i'm actually getting "Let it always be known that I was who I am" on my arm.. Laura Marling, you are a genius, and I think I can say this from all your fan's, thank you for being who you are :)

  • I love her lyrics. Every song is always more than JUST a song. Oh and this girl can seriously rock any hair colour. :) I

  • Brilliant in her own right, the mumfords collaboration backin makes this something special, "let it always be known that i was who i am"

  • Gah i so wanna know what was in the box...

  • Just happened to stumble upon this video while listening to Noah and the whale....I am so captured by her voice, delicate & soulful.

  • @Halesanmariee check out her last album Alas I cannot swim. Impeccable. and new romantic, she's truly something special

  • This is a wonderful track - reminds me of driving/road trip

  • folk rocking good ***** yes 5 stars

  • CALLING ALL ORIGINAL YOUTUBE ARTISTS. WE NEED YOU, ALL!!! Bring us your songs, we will help them go forth and multiply :)

    BNMU

    x

  • I love this. It's so much like donovan's 'ramblin boy' - but she makes it entirely hers. lovely!

  • Thank you laura for bringing this song to me now

  • great artist, first-class songs

  • AAAHH BRIGHTON! I walked in this beach...I love this city.

  • i want to marry this lady.

  • @RubySapphire - Methinks you protest too much?

  • Why am I just now discovering her? I am floored by her talent.

  • really amazing wish i could completely understand her lyrics though

  • Give me to a rambling man. I am his. x

  • She's great, I love her.

  • I know him:L

  • I found out that the case is full of cash. Its the payment for the poor actor who had to jump into that freezing water just so they could have a "cliff hanger" ending for their video.

  • I always hated it when people said someone young was an "old soul" but I am hard-pressed to find another way to describe Laura Marling.

  • Her music goes beyond her age, truly inspiring

  • truly great!!!!

  • i want to know what in the suitecase!!!!!!!!!!

  • yay brighton!

  • tune!!

  • whats in the fucking case?

  • Prozac

  • OMG

  • how old is she?

    amazing :)

  • Laura to Win

  • WHERE IS THIS GIRL FROM ?????

  • @stagbaws

    Laura is from Hampshire, England.

  • @itsEmma94 thanky you : )

  • Watch Laura Marling interview and performances of 'Rambling Man' and 'I Speak Because I Can' in the studios of ABC Radio National in Australia

  • What is in the breifcase! Brilliant video, astounding artist. Unparralelled by anyone other

  • @murrc2h I think the idea is it's one of those endlessly interpretable metaphors that are employed to make us watch again and again in the hope of a revelation, hunting across the internet for some extract of an interview or article, when really it means nothing :) or alternatively it does mean something. You could watch again and again and hunt across the internet for some extract of an interview or article to find out?

  • @incongra i dont think so. he's an artist i just cannot remember his name.

  • who is that man? i waant to knowwww so bad.

  • @theonecoolcookie It's the edge guitarist out of U2

  • @theonecoolcookie Leo John Santos-Shaw.

  • I was wondering what happened to her. I love this. Really good photography too

  • holly!

  • It's pretty cool how the Edge agreed to be in this video.

  • Just found out about Laura today. In love.

  • @snowmanechoes me too haha a friend recommended her to me. i heard 'new romantic' and i fell in love and i keep falling. what a voice, what a girl <3

  • when the second set of vocals comes in for the first time it gives me chills. this is beautiful.

  • SO excited to see this wonderful woman on the 1st of august!

  • please take your guitar and your sweet voice with you and marry me :)

  • Wow... after seeing this I downloaded the album immediately - and it's fantastic....

Weird thing is it's filmed in Brighton (where I live) and I see this guy in my local cafe... so now I'll have to resist singing 'Rambling Man' to him ;)

  • I love the way they got all those starlings to perform on cue.

  • WOW that dark hair color just turned her to super HOT status. She looks exoticly exquisite in this video.

  • "Let it always be known that I was who I am". Great lyric.

  • @joanneohall 'My children will live just to grow old' -- She's brilliant.

  • @joanneohall, You're right. I think the lyric is so genius because in our life we all come in a kind of situation that people are not accepting who we are. But in the end, those people just challenged us to stay who we are.

  • the lyrics of this song are beautiful!

  • shes amazing

  • *sigh*

  • A refreshing change to all those shallow predictable clips people attach to shallow predictable pieces of noise

  • Could she be any sexier? The bleached blond was hot but this long dark look is the cats meow. Marry me and have my babies:>)

  • It's perfect, MEEP!

  • she's got so much soul for someone so young.

  • @ChipChipBreak Knowing Brighton's reputation, and looking at the man's moustache, I now see what "Rambling Man" means. As in "Rambling Sid Rumpole" the Kenneth Williams character.

  • @ChipChipBreak Food for thought. As a 19 year old woman who has been told on numerous occasions that I have surprising depth for a person my age, it always surprises me. Why should numerical years be juxtaposed withher ability to communicate who she is or what she's lived? Why should "soul" be expected only from the older?I've met wise 10 year olds and women in their 60s who have only explored themselves on a superficial level. Soul, it seems, is unique to an individual, not an age group.

  • @rubysapphire14 Experience...

  • @R3v3rs3s But that's part of my point. Experience relative to the person, not the number. I have known 60 year old woman coddled and taken care of for their entire lives, and 10 year olds raising families...numbers do not have the amount of importance we put on them.

  • @rubysapphire14 You know what, I don't really don't know why I posted. I agree with CJSpencer... couldn't really care.

  • @R3v3rs3s Lol ok

  • @ChipChipBreak In short, her age is irrelevant.

  • Great song, great video. No smoke and mirrors. Absolutely stunning.

  • beautiful, just simply beatiful

  • I feel like she's aged so much since last year.

  • I am so Fu©king inspired by this!! This is so well done on a §hitload of levels. Hallefu¢kinlujah!!

  • I am SO Fucking inspired by this. This is so well done on a shitload of levels. Hallefuckinlujah!

  • she's so much more grown up in style, and in sound. loved the white-blonde hair and big eyes, but this is different, but nice!

  • this song is so lovely. it's full and empty at the same time. It reminds me of joni and fairport convention and is a little too much of donovan's ramblin' boy. Nearly enough to deserve an attribution. But she owns the tune entirely.

  • I love Laura Marlingggg, eeeek.

  • I've never heard of her before, but I love this song soooo much.

  • genius, genius, genius!!! she is soooo great and absolutely precious. she looks lovely is a brunette too.

  • This song (and video) is so beautiful and she looks stunning with dark hair. Her music keeps evolving; it's getting better and better, and as someone else said her songwriting style has definitely matured over the last few years. This is my new favorite song of hers!

  • i preferred her old look and style, but i can't deny that this is a good song

i was so glad when i found out she was officially releasing it- it's been my favorite for around a year

  • Ive been trying to find someone who touches soul, gives emotion, has amazing song writing skills and has a lot of talent. She defiantly fits that description. Where does she have her concerts at? I would really like to se her. Im buying her cd. It takes way too long to download songs where I live. So I just buy cds. I only buy cd of people I really like. Is their other artist do similar music like her?

  • @lizzyvance If you like Laura Marling, you would like Mumford & Sons.

  • She has the most perfect smile!

  • This song is amazing and it made me check out her other material , But I'm sorry to say this is the only song I liked from either of her 2 albums , shame really.

Probably figures that this is the only song of hers i've heard on 6 music.....

BUT good luck to her , she's got a tough battle with the mainstream and the idiots that think X-Factor is reeeal music...

  • Never stops amazing me in her music. such talent and such a beautiful person

  • great song =) but i bet that poor guy is freezing his bollocks off =/

  • I love the cinematography in the Video Clip!! Does anyone know the name of the director?? (i also love "Devil's Spoke")

I would really like to look at some other work of this guy,..

  • @Elpida2107 Video Clip by Pulse Production, Director: Fred&Nick, Director of Photography: Ben Magahy

Same director and DoP than for Devil's Spoke, and the Mumford & sons Video clips.

  • This just might be one of my favorite songs ever. It's so moving and beautiful and always makes me cry.

  • did she dye her hair? she looked a little like scarlett johansson at first

  • who the fuck is this!

  • @AngelOrphan1 try reading the title of the video dickface.

  • "Laura Marling - Rambling Man", nice.

By the way, thanks for sharing ya~

    ^_^

  • so young and so talented....

  • i cant get enough from her beautiful songs.....

  • Hey Laura,

Remember not to care about the twats talking about Joni Mitchell or Nick Drake etc. Fuck them and their meagre imaginations. Having not been so impressed by your previous work this new one is very good. Keep doing what you're doing and ignore the comparisons. You're doing great on your own!

  • @TheGreatEcstasy Hi Ecstasy, I wonder why you take such a hostile tone, when in this atmosphere, it is neither needed nor appreciated. I personally listen to all three artists, and don't see a strong connection with Nick Drake, but her vocals are reminiscent of the distinct sounds of Joni during some parts of the song.

  • @TheGreatEcstasy I wonder why you find this to be something of shame, while both Joni and Nick were both respectable and amazing artists. Styles are rooted from pre-existing ones, without exception, so where is the harm in comparisons?

  • @TheGreatEcstasy In addition, if you listen to Goodbye England, you may find the similarities between Joni and Laura undeniable.

  • @kintaris glad somebody else mentions nick drake thought that i was a bit weird! fortunately the topics of her songs, whilst mellow, aren't as suicidal as his (were)

  • She has similarities to Joni Mitchell, but the album reminded me of a darker (and slightly more feminine) take on Nick Drake more than anybody.

Not sure on the video, but Laura Marling has never failed to impress me. Simply gorgeous songwriting.

  • I'm really liking this song. She is incredibly gifted and talented. I saw her live in Bristol when she toured with Daniel johnston! great gig

  • I'd be her rambling man. :D

  • She is wearing fur, I guess.

I'd wish it was fake fur.

  • oh wow. God hasn't her music matured!

    Beautiful.

  • Im actualy in love with this tune. What a Woman!! love it!!!!

  • @nonenoneblah Yeah, I hadn't listened far enough past the beginning of the song when I commented. You're right.

  • so very very good

  • the man in the video is amazing!!!

  • i first saw laura marling when i was 13 and she was just 15, and i remember it was with jamie t...she played london town and i swear i cried. new romantic was unreal and since then i have been following her. she remains to be one of my favourite all time singer/songwriters.

  • @oxlovesickxo so jealous youve known about her that long, i only found out about her a few years ago. I 100% agree with your last statement aswel

  • @oxlovesickxo Do you mean to say that she wrote new romantic when she was 15!

  • @oxlovesickxo you've "been following her", i thought they arrested people for that :/

  • @oxlovesickxo wow. she is amazing. and so are you for sticking by her. :) do you like her new material?

  • she looks so much older in this video! BEAUTIFUL SONG AND ARTIST!

  • It's not just the song that moves me but the sad, lonely looking middle aged man. He looks battered and bruised from a cruel life.

  • i'm obsessed with her. everyhing about her is so organic and music centred, she doesn't try publicity shit and she's really getting noticed for it.

  • This is great. But it sounds EXACTLY like early Joni Mitchell. Vocals, guitar style. Listen to anything from Ladies of the Canyon or Clouds, it could virtually be the same person.

  • Its amazing how live and recorded she sounds no different, her voice is amazing, she is amazing and all her songs are amazing.

You can't overuse the word 'amazing' when talking about her.

  • She's so pretty D:

  • i think i prefer her with blonde hair but thats just coz i love blonde hair, it did look extra nice on hair, but shes still beautiful either way

  • That's the Palace Pier in Brighton!

    Brighton Rocks!

  • is this at brighton pier? looks like it, made the same chilly walk, right by that wall a few weeks ago and was just thinking it reminded me of how bare feet work on brighton's seafront. didnt get a suitcase though, just a rudimentary bath before work. amirite? amirite? amirite? amirite?

  • She just gets better. I'm jelous as all hell :)

  • is it just me or does she look a lot older and more mature with darker hair?

  • i love Laura. she's so beautiful and has such a beautiful voice. i would love to see her in concert

  • What a beautiful song Laura!

    Quite amazing

  • No more cryptic laura! She's definitely developed the confidence to show in this song that the lyrics are about herself.

    So good (Y)

  • somehow she became even more attractive. didn't think it was possible. maybe it's the brown hair?

  • not just a great song, but a great video!!!! Love it!!!

  • I want her coat.

  • So do I

  • AMAZING!! I love this song. Laura, you have yet again, left me breathless.

  • Comment removed

  • Perfection.

  • wow. just...wow.

  • What a natural beautiful person

  • so very beautiful!

  • I love her voice, I love her style. This is an amazing tune that belongs to an amazing album. Very talented Laura, very talented.

  • I love her voice, I love her style. Amazing tune. When the album releases I know what I'll be listening to.

  • Now what do you think is in the suitcase?

  • i think its the same suitcase from Hope In The Air, so you can see in that video what he puts in it. Its the same guy too, I believe.

  • @Marianag812 Coooool...thanks a bunch! :)

  • having a total pulp fiction moment here .....
