Am really getting hooked on designing the dracula,, ive only just started with one art pic,and sold quite a few already, i now have my own online shop. love to hear anyone's comments regarding my dracula pic, alot more to come in the near future, you can find my online store here cafepress/jmcks. thanks guys.
Yes that's Judi Bowker as Mina (an apparation of Jonathan's thoughts in this scene). I daresay she embodies the role more than anyone I've seen. Sweet and innocent, yet strong-willed, smart, and fiercely loyal to Jonathan (unlike the ones in the Badham and Coppola versions). I personally prefer her in this to Clash of the Titans. She was good in that, and emobdied the look there as well, but something (the dialouge I guess) made her sound more stiff there.
They kind of made Dracula's climb down the wall a little more ridiculous than in the book. In the book, it was eerie- and cold. You could imagine him wriggling down the wall in such a disgusting way, like in the Coppola version which actually looked like a lizard, as described in the book. This, well- I snorted at this. But it's still a good adaption of the book. Just this scene is what I don't like.
I love this movie...so much more than Coppola's Dracula! Yes sort of cheesy but atmospheric and dreamy. Mina and Lucy are luminous. Just a perfect movie for Halloween.
@kappleviolet This particular version of Dracula pre-dates Coppola's by at least 20 years. Mina was the heroine in the TV series Black Beauty in the UK when I was at school, a good 20 years ago. So when you say old looking, you would be right.
@rosiejane66 Best Dracula ever and I don't care how much money Hollywood wasted on Coppola's overrated version. No doubt Lugosi and Jourdan give the most fiendish version of the Count; Lee was great as well but suffered from lack of dialogue and development; Palance was physically impressive but too much Dark Shadows in Dan Curtis' version. Langella's is mediocre-but then again, I am not a woman.
