  • yum yum tasty the crabs...

  • It is delicious food for Chinese!

a glutton may pay lot money 4 eat it.

  • Well looks like the E.A wants to keep the crabs. They are going to spread anyway the crabs have legs.I live in Norfolk u.k on the East coast and the rivers we have here have only just started getting reports of mitten crabs by fresh water anglers. So the mitten crabs cant spread any further east. Don't think the E.A should be worrying about illegal movement and restocking of the crabs.A wire trap with 55mm holes would let most eels and lamphrey pass through. And retain the crabs of edible size.

  • Thanks for that.

I assume the eels and eel nets in the UK and in New Zealand are pretty much the same. The eels are not killed by the nets but just funnel them into a one-way trap. Therefore it would seem feasible to catch the crabs and release the eels.

  • The female crabs taste exceptionally sweet especially in Chinese Cuisine! Not to mention, they are also quite rare and can be priced up to an equivalent of $15 for an average crab.
