  • Hi Tom! Are you a youtube partner??

  • They are getting more expensive because there is a massive shortage of hdd's!

  • You look scary.

  • hey tom, i just bought a new camcorder =] it records in AVCHD and I'm not sure what to use to convert it what software would you recommend?

  • @techheadkd You don't need to record it :) If you have an Intel Mac then it works directly...

  • Getting my internal WD 2TB Caviar Green from BestBuy for $149.99 with a 10% Off Coupon tomorrow for my Mac Pro 8-Cores.

  • They decreased over here in the U.S.

  • @Paratrooper1n0 Not last time I checked! The $49.99 hard drive that I was looking at a couple of months ago is still $150.95.... I hope that it returns to original price soon....

  • @GeneralNerevarine

I meant since it went up in price. (Insert explanatory word here that describes a fool)

  • @Paratrooper1n0 It's fine mate! I was just going to be like "What are your sources?! Give me the website now!" I'm building a rig but am going to wait until 1. hard drive prices drop and 2. the Geforce GTX 600 Series come out...

  • @GeneralNerevarine

GTX 700* series. GTX 600 is mobile cards. Next desktop models are named the 700 series.

  • @Paratrooper1n0 I don't think so... Nvidia announced the release of the 600 series at a conference type thing not long ago as being sometime in the 1st quarter of 2012, and nowhere did they say that it was going to be a mobile card. I dunno; did a google search couldn't find anything GTX 600 in the "mobile cards" category...

  • @GeneralNerevarine

There will not be any desktop 600 series cards. Dig more into your research.

  • @Paratrooper1n0 I did, and posted a question on two computer gaming forums; nope. One guy suggested that you might be thinking of something other than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 600 series.... like one of the GT models or something. Don't know where you got your info, mate, but if you could supply a link then I will believe you, but as it stands... (P.S. Also went through 3 pages of Google search for "GeForce GTX 600"; still nothing)

  • @GeneralNerevarine

Weird, since I did a search and didn't see any rumor sites. I got my info from google and OCN.

  • @Paratrooper1n0 Now I am curious. Could you by any chance PM me the links to where you read about it? I just want to be cautious because I don't want to order a 600 series card and end up with a mobile one; that would be miserable for me.

  • @Paratrooper1n0 Okay man I think I found what you are referring to. On Nvidia's website it says that they are releasing a series of the GTX 600s for mobile computers which will be called the "GTX 600m" series, which is what they did with the GTX 500 series as well, if I am not mistaken.

  • @GeneralNerevarine

Yes I will PM the first link that comes up on Google search. As for the GTX series. There was not a GTX 300 series. And the GTX 500 series is only a voltage & heat upgrade from the 400 series. Not an official new series.

  • @Paratrooper1n0 And a google search for GTX 700 series came up with a whole lot of "I wonder if Nvidia will release GTX 700 or make a new card...."

  • see you next year

  • I took a look at some HDD on Amazon but a 500GB WD blue is 80€....Omg I picked up my 1TB

    WD elements for 55€!!

  • Where do you get your money?

  • I never would of guessed you listened to Disturbed, Tom.

  • Have you tried the Best Buy closing down sale? They had a WD External 2TB hard drive for £50.

  • Hey Tom if your at pc world they sell a three terabyte external hard drive for £110

  • Go on amazon and search F4 ecogreen 2TB, it is a 2TB hard drive for (23rd dec 2011) £90.

  • @FreeForAllGamerz Because the one that I have sticks out the back about an inch an a half, and it's the largest cable at the back of the Mac Pro. It's stopping me push the whole machine further back... The official power cable is pretty much flush to the back on the case so I could push my Mac further back so it'd be safer... And believe it or not, small things like that contribute to increasing resale value.

  • Tom! What's playing as your desktop wallpaper? Its been bugging me since the first video it was in!?

  • @LogicalDesigner Hey man! It's a Screensaver in Lion called "iTunes Artwork" and it just shows all of your albums and you can play them from the screensaver. Pretty cool! Only thing is, if you have some embarrassing music in your library, the whole world can see! lol

  • why don't you just get a Caviar Green there is nothing wrong with it you won't notice the speed difference and it ALOT cheaper

  • @intelinsideTV Good drive for storage / backup, bad drive for a scratch disk. I would happily buy one to store my iTunes library and YouTube Exports and other things like that, but I have the 1TB Black left over from my G5 so I guess that's a bonus :)

  • I meant this....

  • Thid whole hard drive phase is just horrible! Im trying to get an all new computer setup and my computer only has 200 gbs! Ill obviously need more space, and i hate buying secind hand. Nice video though. 

  • I never keep backups.

  • @undercoverpolska Brave! ;)

  • @ItsMyNaturalColour Stupid. One of the best backup solutions comes with OSX since Leopard and he isn't taking advantage?

  • @Whizard72 If your referring to Time Machine, then I do use it. :) Just haven't got enough external space.. I use Time Machine for my boot drive, and CCC for the video editing stuff (because I don't need that backed up quite as frequently)

  • The Hard Drive prices are so high at the moment! :/

  • r u still getting an ssd for your os?

  • @eschofield1 he said he would love to get a 128gb but they're expensive and hes just going to see how things turn out

  • @eschofield1 In the future sometimes, probably. Like I said in the video, I'm just seeing how the land lies.

  • you might aswell upload in 480p as you can't really tell the difference with your HD quality

  • @MrNando5556 It'd look worse because I can't record in standard definition, so I'd have to further compress the resolution... Uploading in HD isn't a problem really. I'll always have the massive raw video file sizes from the camera.

  • Look in HMV (of all places lol) for the WD MyBook Studio. I got the 2TB one for £129. It has 2 FireWire 800 ports and a USB port, all metal construction. Damn good drive. Quiet too. The same one is £200+ most other places I've seen it.

  • @TalesOfWar Thanks for the suggestion man! I'll deffo investigate....

  • Just put an ssd!

  • One more thing, I was thing about the way the hdd installation is in my new cooler master case, and I gotta say, it is really easy, you just put two brackets on each side of the drive and just slide it in (no screws either). Then again, you still have to route the Sata data and power cables through the back and plug them in, another plus for the mac pro :D!

  • Great video! I was going to go with the Mac Pro, but came to the sudden realization that in high school I wouldn't be able to afford it (new anyways). I just bought a bunch of parts for Hackintosh, which should (after a few upgrades) be as fast as a Pro. Also, saw that you listene to Ozzy Ozbourne on your screen saver, right on!

  • 2 vids in 1 day, ur awesome :)

  • i have 2.500gb and only used 400gb :D

  • @CrAzY3AGL3 do you mean 2.5Tb?

  • @bestpctips 2.5Tb = 2.500gb u mad bro ?

  • @CrAzY3AGL3 2.500gb = 2gb and 500mb. 2.5tb = 2tb with 500gb. I think you meant to put 2,500gb but instead you put 2.500gb. just saying!

  • @bestpctips oh sorry lol ^_^,

  • Hey! You got the same Logitech mouse as me 09:15 . :D

Good little mouse that one is.

  • That was quick! Two videos in one day! Great stuff!

This reminded me I still need to get a hard drive for my empty bay.

Great vid as always, Tom :)

  • great vids Man, love your Chanel

  • lol all you need to do is to delete the video clips once you have finished editing!!! and once they are uploaded to youtube you don't need the video on your HDD. Do you.

  • @MyNameIsOwain He wants to keep the raw video files "just incase", and the quality on YouTube is pretty poor compared to what you typically output and upload.

  • what is ur background???

  • first hi love ur vids lol
