Best JRPG this generation... instant classic. Probably the story is not as epic as FF6 or 7 or even xenogears but at the end of the day, it is the fun that counts. The most important change this game has brought to us is its fresh take at the tactical rpg genre. I loved FF Tactics, the Wild Arm Series, Arc the Lad... but not being confined to a grid... is well... liberating. :D

@NarutoRocks2011 maybe it's because FF13 is just another rehash of a milked-to-death franchise, dark/demons souls both have no plot, and dragon's dogma isn't even fucking out yet. Valkyria Chronicles has unique artstyle and very challenging, original, fresh gameplay.

@NarutoRocks2011 Guess what, I completely agree with you. However, this 1 point is still important, especially for a jRPG. VC has both good story and excellent, brand-new style of gameplay. It made such excellent improvements to turn-based combat, which is probably the weakest point of most jRPGs.

Also don't get me wrong, I really liked Demons souls (didn't play the newest one though). it's just not as revolutionary as Valkyria.

The thing I love about this game is, yes the gameplay is very unique, but what really got me is the art and the storyline. I like how there's a lot of well thought out history of Europa and that even though your troops may be somewhat expendable, they are far from faceless. They have their own bios, there own backstories, their own reasons for fighting, and they even have their own epilogues for what happens after the war.

Biggest problems

- forced to use story characters in every battle for command points

- enemy turn takes too long

- scouts become ridiculously overpowered (Alicia can charge turrets head on and take 5% dmg)

- early sniper/lancer aiming is facepalm-level terrible

- cutscenes drag on at times and are split up for no reason (i assume it's to make the game seem longer)

it's got some problems, but none of them major, and most of them only noticeable later. I would give it a 7/10.

@KINGFLAMER You level up by winning missions and then depending on your rank getting a bit of exp ontop of that and then you go to a place called the "Training Field" were you can give the exp you've gotten to the 5 classes: Scouts,Shocktroopers,Lancers,E­ngineers and Snipers there are also enemy using like tanks and commander units with if you kill them add a bit of exp to the exp you get for completing the mission

i wish this had trophies, the desert level had a level where they continuously spawned gunners and scouts that camped at the flag. i bombed 6 at once using the tank... meh, the game is still awesome :)

Why do the reviewers talk about rasism, can someone explain to me what that is all about, is it something to do with Welkin's sister? (I haven't played the game but i am watching the anime, even though the storyline seems completly the same which is good but i still don't get where the racism thing is coming from)

@CAJO1471 Isara, Welkin's sister, was adopted by Welkin's father. Isara is a Darcsen and Darcsens have been persecuted for thousands of years because of the Darcsen myth. The Darcsen myth is a story that says that thousands of years ago the Darcsens tried to control the entire planet of Europa and that they were stopped by the Valkyrurs. That's why Darcsens are persecuted.

FFFFFFFF i am kinda upset and happy right now.
