  • A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell. (CS Lewis)

  • And where in that quote does he say you are not allowed to believe in god?

Dawkins presents a very clear case for his view.

Your anthrophic principle makes no sense at all.

Man your mumbling just a tad too loud, good luck with your futile crusade.

  • And before you start about me not providing a reason for why your anthropic yaddayadda doesn't stand (though it should be obvious):

The universe and us existing is an undeniable factual reality.

Your assumption of it needing a god (or even it being improbable) is just philosophy.

As soon as you can point out your (or another ones) god, then you have a comparison.

IF you want to argue God is as obviously real as you and i or the universe, you're further gone then i expected.

  • To expand a bit on the above, the "improbality" Dawkins is talking about is like:

Throw 1000 dice one after another, look at what you threw and the order in which

How probable was that looking back?, yet there it lays, right before your very eyes.

  • "How probable was that looking back?, yet there it lays, right before your very eyes."

I agree. You might call it yadda yadda, but millions (includiing yadda yadda-ing scientists who've contributed more to scientific progress thean dawkins himself) come to the same conclusion as me based on a seeking of something outside of science.

  • "seeking of something outside of science"

And how exactly do you propose to objectively do that?

It seems to me that the right tool to search for anything real is science...

  • "And how exactly do you propose to objectively do that?" prayer? just a thought. its unique to the homo-genus. perhaps a negative trait. none the less worth a try. each to their own.

  • "You're further gone than I expected".you are right. And i'm not alone. But then you would have to make a case for mental illness. Is that a charge you'd make against every sincere believer who has engaged on a course of spiritualy seeking in the absence of scientific answers outside of the tiny dot of physical science at the point of the big bang? Just be honest. Or better still, you could enlighten us with yoru pre-big bang knowledge.

  • My (lended knowledge wrt the big bang does not go before 1 Planck time, so no i cannot inform you what was before the BB.

But, i can tell you that all we know that happened after 1 Pt, we know via science and not via other means.

So if probability is your thing, then you should bet on science bringing the answer to that, not a spiritual search.

I don't think you are mentally ill, quite to the contrary, you seem to be quite intelligent.

But i do believe you have been misinformed...

  • LOL @ "crusade" . No its a video response to a crusade. Dawkins seems rather intent on proving a case for mental illness of the millions of believers in the world. I'm sorry if I've upset your faith in his approach. His clear case is "we don't know how matter came about or why it prevailed over anti-matter against all improbability." ITs not "my" anthropic principle. Many eminent scientists use it. I'm sorry it doesn't meet your illustrious standards.

  • Atheism is not "a faith". It's a lack of "faith".
