Hyenas get too much crap, they're great hunters as a pack and are usually successful in their hunts. And why hunt on your own when you can scare someone off? Takes a lot less energy. They aren't the only ones that steal kills btw.

i hate hyenas! They are ugly, annoying and cant hunt successfully if any of them is alone!

actually, hyenas are very successful hunters, as someone who travels to africa quite a lot, i have both talked to guides and seen with my own eyes that the majority of their food is not scavenged. my last trip i saw a pack take down a buffalo, risky business but they were effective and worked for it!
