I had the surgery in Oct 2010 I weight at 280 and its now Jan 3, 2011 and I weight under 190, and it was the best thing I have ever done... I knew that I would not be a ble to drop all the weight all at once, now the hardest part of it is to keep it off...just like everyone has to do :0 all we get is a head start...thank God for this procedure!!!

This is soooo beautiful! You picked THE perfect song! I had gastric bypass almost 3 months ago. I lost 60 lbs. in the first 2 months, but now I haven't lost more than a couple pounds in the last 3 weeks. This has worried me. Is it normal to have plateaus like that?

Here's something to think about: You don't ever hear from the people who weight-loss surgery DIDN'T work for. Do you know why? because they're dead. Yeah, it works for some people, but diet & exercise will work for the vast majority of people if they have a little willpower. Imagine how much better you'd feel if you did it on your own?

I am shocked and disgusted that you were approved for this surgery at such a low weight! I commend you on your accomplishment. I too went through GBP in 2004. I went from 420 down to 245. I have since gained back some, mostly due to losing my blue collar job last year, laziness and depression arent a good combo. :) You look amazing. It IS a great feeling tho isnt it? I am surprised tho that doctors approved you for what would otherwise be called a low weight at only 228. Congrats just the same. Keep up the good work.

Yeah and anyone can die with it too if they don't stick to a VERY strict diet, especially right after it is performed. WLS is not an easy way out. For some people, cravings and hunger (brought on by whatever) crash their will. For some people (like me) who are disabled, a normal exercise regiment is not possible and weight gain only makes our health more poor. WLS, when done properly, gives an advantage to those that don't have the advantages of perfect health, energy, or good genetics.

Im a guy scheduled for bypass on 13-8-09, and yes going through all the emotions looking forward to clothes shopping (yes men as well) Ive promised myself flash linen suit if I make target. and a new leather jacket. Oh yeah also being able to work without problems and not dying of a stroke etc. Food isnt an enemy but can be a bastard as a friend.
To ratcel,if the surgery did all the work,why the other lap band people on you tube, are having troble with the scale,and need motivation from each other if it's so easy,including myself,don't be so stupid. Sherlita, by the way girl you look good.
Let me just say this, the lap-band is only a tool in losing weight. You have to do the work or you will gain it back. I speak from expienence it's not a quick fix. It took me 3 years to get close to goal, and everyday I still have tpo work at it, and workout. No quick fixes here, it's work.
I love how people talk about things, they know nothing about, like it's some pronouncement. I had lap-band surgery 3 years ago and it's a struggle everyday. I don't even enjoy eating anymore, unless you've actually been there you can't can't judge.

There is nothing "simple" about this surgery and if you knew anything about it you would know that for a lot of people it is truly a last resort after years of trying conventional diets etc. To malenamalena34, I truly applaud you for your strength and determination and for your courage to share your journey with us. Ok. this is a great video. I was 365 on Feb 27, 2008 and I am around 200lbs now. Best of luck to you always. It is so hard everyday, but I love the struggle. I guess when you want results, you have to go after it.

i just want you to know that i am a grown man ad that i dont cr y much at all. the last time i cryed was when my mom passed away on 11-05-89 and on 9-10-07. i just watched your video and the emo tion that overcame me was more than words could ever explain when i saw how wonderful you have done. i had gastric bypass on 9-10-07 and it has changed my life. i went from weighing 520 lbs to my current weight of 280lbs. godbless you and your family. im on myspace and facebook,

Yeah and anyone can die with it too if they don't stick to a VERY strict diet, especially right after it is performed. WLS is not an easy way out. For some people, cravings and hunger (brought on by whatever) crash their will. For some people (like me) who are disabled, a normal exercise regiment is not possible and weight gain only makes our health more poor. WLS, when done properly, gives an advantage to those that don't have the advantages of perfect health, energy, or good genetics.

WOW! You are amazing! You should be a spokes person. You give me courage. I was scheduled for surgery and it got canceled because I had a cold. I go again in a week. Now have a case of cold feet. You definately give me courage to make a change.

Im a guy scheduled for bypass on 13-8-09, and yes going through all the emotions looking forward to clothes shopping (yes men as well) Ive promised myself flash linen suit if I make target. and a new leather jacket. Oh yeah also being able to work without problems and not dying of a stroke etc. Food isnt an enemy but can be a bastard as a friend.

Let me just say this, the lap-band is only a tool in losing weight. You have to do the work or you will gain it back. I speak from expienence it's not a quick fix. It took me 3 years to get close to goal, and everyday I still have tpo work at it, and workout. No quick fixes here, it's work.

I love how people talk about things, they know nothing about, like it's some pronouncement. I had lap-band surgery 3 years ago and it's a struggle everyday. I don't even enjoy eating anymore, unless you've actually been there you can't can't judge.

Wow, ratcel, you are so uninformed it's unbelievable. There is nothing "simple" about this surgery and if you knew anything about it you would know that for a lot of people it is truly a last resort after years of trying conventional diets etc. To malenamalena34, I truly applaud you for your strength and determination and for your courage to share your journey with us. You were stunningly beautiful before your surgery and still are. You look healthy and happy. Congrats!

Ok. this is a great video. I was 365 on Feb 27, 2008 and I am around 200lbs now. Best of luck to you always. It is so hard everyday, but I love the struggle. I guess when you want results, you have to go after it.

Thank you all for youe nice word, :) just keep in mind that just becouse i was sick at the begining does not mean you all will be too. i have always recoved slowly even if it just a little common cold. so i knew that i was going to have a hard time right afther the wls. but healthy as a horse now :)

Very inspirational! I cried. Thanks for sharing it. I'm going to have the roux-en-y surgery done. I weigh 245. I started gaining weight 10 yrs ago after having kids. I was wondering what kind of exercise you did while losing the weight to stay tone. I was also wondering how sick you were after the sergury, was it bad? I will have my husband helping me after the surgery, but was worried about what kind of down time to expect. Do you have any advice for someone having this surgery done? Thanks.

i am 42, I have lost a lot of weight more then 200 pounds, no one knows the path you walked like those of us that did it. This song and the story you told with the pictures is amazing, I am squalling like a baby over it.
