  • ass hole drummer over powering.

thats not just my torrets talkin.

  • @SLee1337

Sorry, I didn't know, i never heard him sing.

  • Why does the put mic if they don't sing???

    Strange.

But his one great guitarist I say.

  • @goddamnit452 eric does sing on many of his songs (Friends, High Landrons, Forty Mile Town, When the Sun meets the Sky, Desert Rose) check it out! he's not half-bad at it!

  • He's soooo good he opened for Rush for pete's sake...Awesome !!!!

  • I'm not exactly sure, but the beginning sounds pretty similar to Bossa Nova jam on his The Art of Guitar DVD. If you search "Eric Johnson Bossa Nova" here on Youtube you can have a look. The jam is a bit shorter but maybe this is just a jam too then heheh ^^

  • play freebird !!!!

just kidding, Eric is a tone God been watching him to impossible chords and such for many years

  • Eric is such a great guitarist. He pay attention to the smallest thing. Some say he can hear difference on the brands of battery in his pedals.I dont know whether its true, but he IS special.Jazz, rock, blues he can play it all.

  • @Nevigo its true , he talks about the type of battry he prefers the sound from as well as every other detail including wire thickness etc.

  • eric johnson style!

  • FUCK HE-S GOOD

  • Amazing, they're just jamming, and it's a Complete Song!!!

  • no one can play cleans better than him

  • better than Joe n Vai

  • @workstation22 whos that

  • @workstation22 easy on the smoke

  • @mmalle2

that and every other "guitar nerd" achieved far greater success and wrote way better music than you eve could. To think your day consists of calling great musicians guitar nerds makes me feel sorry for you.

  • @lungduck gross your pretty gay for thinking of that.

  • dude someone please the name of this jam

  • is eric johnson a lesbian.

    is ellen his sister?

i kept waiting for the song to start, but got bored with the intro LAME

  • He's not gay - he had a fiance - she was murdered. He dedicated Venus Isle to her - have you heard it ? It is a work of art. He has touched a lot of people all over the world with his music. This song had already started in my opinion - there was nothing lame about it. But as you are already looking at EJ on You Tube I know that there is hope for you mate. Just keep listening. And then do some guitar practice to balance your quite evident, self-esteem issues. All the best.

  • All I can say when I hear this, Love. Love to my ears. The chords he uses are so harmonised to the beauty of his perfect tone, no one can compare. Major key to minor in a clashing of sound, my blood boils with the wanting of being in that room which musical beauty spills forth from such a wonderful vessel. As to separate time and space, the clenching of any foes rage could be consoled by the sublime magnitude of this masterpiece.... for the record, I'm not gay, I'm just bored lol. good song btw!

  • what is he playing in this video. it sounds like a song out of grease lol

  • what is the name of this song?

  • I wanna know those Chords! Anyone have a clue?

  • use your ear man!!!!

  • Eric Johnson - Song For Lynette is one of his piano pieces

  • he's awesome

  • Plays piano just as well. For those that didn't know, it's here on youtube somewhere. He may play other instruments, but I'm not sure. He is a master musician!

  • he can play everything.

  • Man I wish he had put this on one of his albums.

  • he's playing bossa nova style..

    oh yeah..i love it..

  • wats the name of this song?? so catchy!

  • I've been trying to figure that out myself. Search 'Eric Johnson bossa nova' and he plays a song really similar to this one for a dvd he did.

I'm not sure if he ever actually recorded this though....Too bad.

  • So... Still nobody knows what the name of this song is? It is bothering me. I think it is a cover of something from around 1980 but I cannot put my finger on it.

  • it's sooooo funny when people try to compare guitarists. Each is their own sound and style. No one is better than another.

  • rkbjnk, is right

  • this is well boring for ej...but vai is in a league above...

  • pmay222 i think there all in there own league.

  • yes you are very right there.....

  • Eric is a brilliant guitarist, he uses so many techniques in his improvising its unbelievable, he can play sweet chords or a lightning fast solo

  • this guy rules proper music, not that hannah montana fucked up shit, though he looks like he wants to have a crap

  • EJ is a brilliant musician...

    no more, no less

  • amen to that!

  • jeez, whats everyones problem with eric johnson? oh my god, he plays with soul!!! he must either be gay or a woman!!!

  • fuckn shit.

  • i`m pretty sure that this was called G3

  • what is this song called? i want to know what to call it once i learn it!

  • he should sing

  • I couldn't have put that any better than you

  • When will EJ play tour again : (

  • this sounds like a version of bossa nova jam, although i like this better.

  • hands off ^^

  • EJ is such a great player w/ awesome tone. But he has no stage presence whatsoever.

  • As if someone could manage playing his songs and still run and jump around the stage...

    He plays like hell instead!

  • Steve Vai's songs are tougher. Yet Steve's stage presence is beyond EJ's. EJ looks like a statue next to Vai.

  • Steves songs aren't tougher than this.

If you are going to play with this tone and this clean sound, Eric is the only one to pull it of. Steve could never play this and still have good stage presence, well actually he could never play it in the first place, it's not his style.

  • Oh, please. Vai can learn this song by ear.

  • Yeah that's ture, but he can never play it like Eric. and vice versa

  • SweViktory. Steve Vai can play any style any time and clean too. You probably should listen to more of his stuff. You can't get to where he is without being versatile. EJ is awesome too.

  • Yeah well, sure he could play this, but it wouldn't sound the same. That's what i was trying to say.

  • Sorry, NOTAFRAID, but Vai's chording is nowhere this level.

In this genre its Holdsworth and EJ and that's about it.

In a pure jazz idiom, there's also Tuck Andress, Martin Taylor, the late Joe Pass, and several others, but Vai isn't even in those guys' league.

  • I wouldnt say that technically Vai isnt in these guys leagues......but I will give Eric Johnson the prize for possibly being the God of chordal music.......he is amazing......he could write the worlds most epic solo out of E, A and D chords.

  • Mindreadingradios you should also mention Shawn Lane with those...

  • And vai sounds like an autistic kid just playing random notes with little coherence all over the fretboard

  • Such a naive critique. Vai is good enough to be in Zappa. The people who criticize Vai are the same ones who can't hang w/ Frank Zappa.

  • I've read thru a bunch of pages but you guys have failed to get to the point. What's the name of the song?

  • Yes yes yes!!! This is great!!! Give us more! Alexei of Alberta Canada

  • WOW!! I've never heard those cords played that way.

  • Damn I cant stop listen to this

  • So what is this song called?

  • Comment removed

  • How about everyone just stfu and listen to the man?

That aside, has this song been released, or is it just a b-side? This is definitely something i wanna crank on my ipod

  • Are you telling me B-sides dont get released?

They do, that's why their B-sides.

  • I guess I'm wrong...

But the song has never been released.

    Probably a Jordan

  • fucktard emo sucks

  • Emo rocks... isn't that like a contradiction of terms??

  • I only knew Cliffs of Dover but this guy is a magician. His technique is fantastic and he plays such unorthodox ideas.

  • Eric's style has certainly refined over the years. It sounds funny to say that because he's always been so beyond his years in his style and approach, but he has become so, so smooth with his playing!

It's such a treat to hear him play stuff like this!!

  • you are wasted.. and I bet you're ugly.. For sure..

  • if its wasted your time why do you watch the whole vid...

  • whats the name of the song he is playin i would like to download it...

  • Why is it that on videos of great music, all of the comments are negative ones about "Emo" music (amongst others) rather than positive comments about what's in the video?

  • Emo boy wears girl tight pant, and their pant always slipping down because they lack of penis, that is why they always cry out loud then record it and they call it a song.

  • Hahahha...that was messed up...But still.....You have me crackin up!!!!!!!

  • wow is everyone so blind that they think they the music they listen to is the best? There is no such thing as good or bad music as long as someone likes it! We all like different things ok so deal with it. ohh and most of you probably haven't even heard real emo music.

  • just checking: does "This Is Halloween" by marilyn manson count? what about Matalica's "One" or "Master of Puppets"?

How do you defing "emo music"?

  • matalica?

    METALLICA!

    =|

  • wouldnt really say this is halloween is emo...as its from a kids film, bu thas been ssociated greatly with the gothy/emoey sort of scene.

  • omg a day after this was a mehh 14th Birthday.. :o

  • Awesome.

    No one cares.

  • No One cares....What the hell??....was that...LOL

  • hei, at least some people are finally realizing what real music sounds, unlike those deaf people who still listens to those crappy bands like jonas brothers and those emo fags

  • rotfl!!! im with ya man!

  • LOL... I think the same thing on a daily basis, I've just learned to block it out or else I'll work myself up into a frenzy. Don't even get me started on emo music

  • yeah! EMO bands go to hell! This is real music!

  • dude, emo music has no place in the music world, they say emo is emotional b.s. but it's just a sad excuse for them to act like girls and put make-up

  • yeah you're right! Everytime I say to someone "you are an EMO" he or she will always describe what EMO is. Man they are so brainless that they can't understand that EMO is a fag-culture. You're right, EMO's and EMO musis has no place in the music world or even on the world general!

  • hahaha, yup yup, and the other thing i hate as much as emo bands are the bands/artists that plays crappy music and still praised by the deaf pop community (e.g the jonas brothers)

  • who wants to hear song about cutting themselves anyway

  • You rock! I cannot belive that people listen to bands like the Jonas Quers or any of those other tallentless bands.

  • ...........+1...........

  • I got to know Cliffs of Dover among many other great songs through Guitar Hero.

I was born 1990 and disliked electric guitar until I was about 15 so I never got a chance before and if it hadn't been for GH I probably wouldn't have got to know all this great music and I also hadn't learned to play guitar.

Why hate a game that is about loving music?

  • Guitar Hero is the reason I picked up a guitar again, and have been playing for a year since then. People say it discourages people to play the real guitar, but I find that it's the opposite.

  • everyones obsest by that people know it off gh. I heard it off gh and thought its a great song i was born in 93 not my fault

  • Does anyone know the name of this song? Its definitely not Cliffs of Dover.

  • i love how they treat it like his only song when

manhatten and others are so muh better in my opinion

  • Cliffs of dover was great before gh3 came out, and well. Was still great afterwards, just now worshipped by guitar hero losers.

  • im actually happy guitar hero had it. Eric Johnson was my first concert in 2nd grade and Cliffs of Dover was my favorite song but i forgot all about it until Guitar Hero reminded me of it.

  • totally agree

  • teloo besar!! mcm kpala dia

  • pretty stupid I.M.O.

  • you want to know what that guy was saying? hahah

i think most of you didnt know

  • i love cliffs of dover...and for your info I know the song before gh came out so dont call me annoying

  • rofl yoshipower that was random. everyone know that song b4 gh3

  • i think you have to go over bobscore´s comment so u can understand mine.

  • i cannot tell you how many times Ah Via Musicom got me to thru and back from work.love Eric!

  • i hate it when kids who play guitar hero watch this video and say "OHH I LOVE CLIFFS OF DOVER" its so anoying

  • i know... guitar hero is try hard

  • Why would you hate that? It's great that he gets out to a younger audience, no matter the media

  • How incredibly shallow and elitist of you. You're obviously somebody who defines themselves by their taste in music.

  • where the hell did that come from? im just saying that people should look into a band before they get obsessive over the one song that the game portrays. im sorry if thats offensive to you.

  • OHH I LOVE CLIFFS OF DOVER

  • HAHAHAHA

  • Hey, fragget, go screw yourself. Not everyone on here heard of Cliffs of Dover from GH. I don't even have the frigging game.

  • =] thanks man

  • Y-O-U rock forever

  • real guitarists wear jeans.

  • tight ones.

  • lol

  • Beautiful song but I do not know the name of it

  • Go search "Eric Johnson Brazilian Stuff"

And you'll get a video called "Boss Nova Jam"

He plays the same song in it

And it might help to look at previous comments instead of asking for the song name over and over again.

    That's what I did.

Thanks to whoever said the same thing earlier, I'm just quoting you. (Forgot the name of who it was)

  • WHATS THE NAME OF THIS SONG?! LOL

  • COMO SE LLAMA LA CANCION ????????

  • yeahhh its tententenehnehn!!! tententen!!!

    tenehnehnehnehn nehnehnehnehnnnn!!!

  • WTF??

  • Does anyone know the name of this song..its beautiful

  • Does anyone know if this is an actual song of his..or just improvisation?

  • I don't think this is an improvisation. Someone posted a comment a while back here this is Eric Johnson's version of "Forever Yours".

  • Neh, can't be improvisation. The guitar, drums and bass are playing in unison.

  • Someone commented a while back that this song is off his DVD. You can find it if you search "Eric Johnson Bossa" or something.

  • this song is mint legendary !1!! woop woop

  • 這首歌叫什麼名字阿

    what's this song name??

    有人可以告訴我嗎~~謝謝^^

  • eric johnson is good but this song wasnt rly good.

  • i want the damn name of this song

  • Cliffs of Dover except its acoustic

  • this isn't acoustic smartass, and it's not cliffs of dover either.

  • None better than Eric Johnson...

  • yeah fuckin liar

  • thats not cliffs of dover

  • Where Does it say it even is cliffs of dover?? twat

  • i'm assuming he's replying to lifehouse33's comment

  • i know its other song dude

  • haha, wth, no cliff of dover here man, jsut pure music

  • Just because it has Eric Johnson's name on the title, doesn't mean it's fucking cliffs of dover. Kinda like how since a video has "My Chemical Romance Live" for the title, it's automaticly Welcome to the black parade live.

  • This is just pure awesome. But besides the subject, the new MCR is great, but not as good as the old. The old is THE BEST. I love listening to Eric Johnson and MCR, though. They both rock.
