@ShawnCFarm Well, I got it done and the knocking from the front left is still there but its barely noticeable....any suggestions? I wasn't able to tighten it with an impact so I had to hand crank it..
Me again.. Im trying to get the tie-rods and the ball joint for my caliber, but its almost impossible to get it anywhere here.. Im gonna have to order it from US, but the online stores i found on net wont ship to Europe! I think im just gonna cut my own head off soon..!
Do you have any idea, where from could i order it? Im loosing my mind soon.. :)
@deadheadsg I'm not sure what to tell you. But you got the car from somewhere? If they don't sell them over there parts are going to cost alot. I would try E-bay just to see if anyone sells them on there. I know most people on there ship world wide. Let me know how you make out.
@ShawnCFarm Jep, Ebay was a good idea! Thanx! I found actually only 1 store, that ships worldwide, its called "remartautoparts". For ball joints 63$, tie-rods 55$, which is not too bad. But i found 1 place in Helsinki also, called US Parts, they can sell me the parts too, but more expensive. Ball joints are 115€, dont remember the tie-rods. As i counted, if i order from Ebay, the customs, taxes and shipping will cost as much as i would buy it from US Parts.
So i think i´ll just wait, that their shipment arrives.. This is a difficult time for me, cos i need the car for work and here is already -15C outside, but i cant use the car before its done. The finnish inspection wont let it pass. Its unbilievable, cos its a fairly new car. It can go later down to even 30C, if i dont get the car done, the shit will freeze in me in the mornings! :)
I dont know, what to think about american cars quality after this..
@deadheadsg There always seems to be that one model of car that each maker makes thats just a big pile of shit. I hope things work out for you. We just got alot of cold rain with flooding today then snow on top of that. Going to get 5 cm tonight
@ShawnCFarm We got like 40cm already! I think i will just burn my car and from the insurance money i´ll take a trip to some warm country.. India or Thailand will be just fine! :)
Do you think its ok to replace the ball joints without replacing the control arms? At least on the inspection paper they didnt mention the arms, but i saw you replaced it together with the ball joints in your other video.
@deadheadsg After you fix your front end parts make sure you get the car an alinement. This is why it is pulling to the right. And yes you have to get the parts ment for your car as they can't seem to make things easy for people to work on lol. Hope this helps and thanks for the comments
@ShawnCFarm Jep, it helps, thanx a lot! Interesting, that i saw in your "ball joint" video, this car needed RIGHT side ball joint replacement and both outer tie rods. Just like MY caliber.
Can you just tell me 1 more thing? I saw you used a hammer and some size keys for the ball joint and tie rod operation. What size of keys they were? Do i need anything else? Regards!
First i wanna thank you for your videos, they helped me a lot, how to solve this problems. Im about to change outer tie rods and ball joint. They told me at car inspection (here in Finland its every year..), my Caliber wont pass, cos those parts are worn out. Here is a question: do i have to get a tie rod specifically for Dodge Caliber, or there are different types, that work with several models? What was the tie rod, that you used (not the first try...)? How about the ball joints?
This was on the list of what I'm looking for by the way of new cars. Makes me wonder about the new ones. I think I may just keep the 96 sunfire I got 156,00mi and runs great. I was hoping a newer car would give me peice of mind. I was also considering a Cobalt. It's hard to find a non-SS with the 2.4 though. Oh well nice vid.
@6Camel6Finger6 Yup newer cars are junk. They make them cheaper so you have to by a new one in ten years or less. The newest car I have bought and driven for myself is a 1996 lumana lol
GREAT JOB!!

@themacydee I've put lots of outer tie rods ends on them.

I'm really not to sure, on the form they have Steering Linkage:Track rod end. Then they have Steering Linkage:Inner tie rod end!
themacydee 6 months ago
Is a track rod end and an inner tie rod end both the same? I ask this because I just had my car tested and they have both to be replaced?
themacydee 6 months ago
@themacydee track rod. Is that like the sway bar link?

@deadheadsg On the one I did it was all one peace. If they didn't say anything about it for your safty standard check then it must still be good.

I´ll try to do it myself too, it doesnt seem too difficult. My caliber goes now a bit rightish. How can i fix that?
