  • Psaro doesn't like this video

  • eu sei quen mata a rosa

  • Watching this video is one of the only instance where it is okay to have feelings.

  • I feel terrible! I sold Cynthia's feather hat, his only memory of her!

  • @Fredodll Mother fucker heartless

  • I always loved this song from the original game. What can I say? This is beautiful. Just beautiful. Way to expand on the original, and the lyrics are great.

    My thanks to Hyadain

  • This tune is... So haunting.. Yet, I can't help listening to it over and over.. Every time I listen to it, no matter how many times, it always sends a chill down my spine.

I wish I could find a way to get the MP3 of this.. Because I'd love to listen to this on the go, and to let my friends hear, to give them a good creeping-out.

Beautiful work, Hyadain. I wish I could praise you directly, but this is the best I can do.

    -Aerodu.

  • youtube need a reaplay button -,- this song is amazing :D

  • Can you remind me what's the name of Cynthia at the american DS version of the game? Without knowning the name of the characters at DQIV I named my main, female hero as Cynthia just like a character from Claymore manga. Oooops! X_X

  • @Vetuyasha Eliza.

  • @Vetuyasha

Lol its eliza you , but hey you resurrected one but the other one still died D: xD

  • i remember never want to begin the adventure on chapter 5 and keep staying in Solo's village for 15 minutes. And when i found out Aamon was the hell who kills hero and psaro's beloved. I was infuriated but not so that. And when i faced him on the second time i was like *OH S---!* Because he followed on perfect evolution.

  • @omega197 Well, Aamon never killed Cynthia. That was actually Psaro's doing alone (but let's not forget that he has reason for all this). Truth be told, Aamon is mostly Psaro's enemy than the hero's...

  • monster: Psaro sama, we have killed the hero

    Psaro: good, retreat!!!

*hero remembers the voice of the monster who killed celia and when he disguising in diabolical hall*

Solo: YOU!!! I KNOW YOU!! YOU'R THE ONE WHO KILLED HER!!!

    mosnter: pardon?

Solo: casts kazap, gigaslash pulverizing the monster and then asks kiryl to THWACK HIS SOUL FROM BOTH EXISTENCE AND NOTHINGNESS!!!! making him one of the never was!!!!!!

  • @omega197 Are you sure the hero would know kazap and gigaslash at that point yet? But it would be much better if he knew Morph like he did in the NES version. :P

  • The great thing from DQ IV (in PSX and DS version) is that both side united to destroy true evil (aamon). And both of them have their loved back.

  • At least she was ressurected in the ending of the game.

  • I was ready to cry at that moment on the game. :( Very touching.

  • is the hero not part angel?

  • @firedragon33332 Yes, he is part angel. Why do you ask?

  • @RuneFactory07 just asking

  • @firedragon33332 Ah, I see.

  • @RuneFactory07 Well, it is kinda major to the story's backstory, so he can't be a burden for asking. -_-

  • @koopaling009 I didn't (try to) imply that! I was just wondering... Ah, never mind.

  • Sad. :(

  • This is s sad...the dead bodies are worst...this is a nice song.

  • I cry a little every time I hear this song.... guess i'm a bit too sensitive to this kind of stuff :P

  • Dragon Quest IV would definitely benefit from a lot more dialogue and story scenes.

  • @Rezindez No, that's not it. Dragon Quest IV would definitely benefit from getting... deeper and more complex. Maybe even Evangelion complex. Think about it: Dragon Quest IV: Evangelion edition. now that would be something!

  • Hmm...I played the NES version and I don't remember Cynthia being able to come back to life, but then again it's been a while since I've played it.

  • One more raging plothole, everyone who dies in this game, WHY DON'T THEY BRING THEM TO CHURCHES!? Is everyone stupid? It's a raging plothole in every RPG ever!

  • I am also very disappointed that Cynthia/Celia was resurrected. Not that I didn't like her, but bringing someone back to life pretty much removes the point of killing them off in the first place. Also, they don't give any explanation whatsoever regarding exactly "How" she came back to life, at least not in the DS version. What, did she just un-die because the Hero wished it? Did the Zenithian dragon play a part in it? A church? No clue. She just bloody floats down from the sky and they hug.

  • Hyadain actually makes Dragon Quest IV's relatively simple plot look stunning and groundbreaking. Not that there was anything wrong with the story, mind. In fact, it probably has one of the best stories of the entire NES library. Still, Hyadain implies the existence of a scene where the Hero (whom I named Rezindez)

morphs into Cynthia/Celia and looks into a mirror in order to see her face again, and since I bought this game because of this song, I was disappointed that no such scene existed.

  • 0:58 - 1:18 freaking awesome! The second rising isn't quite as epic.

  • I've become addicted to this song. I can't stop playing it and it's so sad, but I can't get over that first guitar riff when the melody changes. SO AWESOME.

  • I don't think The Hero understands that if he wasn't born, Cynthia wouldn't have a "as happy" life. Wouldn't the hero be the reason she was so full of joy and laughed all the time. But, I could understand his thinking... It's very sad =(

  • @TheProjectJupiter And also, if the hero wasn't born, then there would be no legendary hero to save the world, and Cynthia would be doomed to die. Forever, with no one to resurrect her.

  • @darkdrium99 Would the char that gets killed be different if the player choses someone different?

  • Cynthia ;_;

  • Poor Hero...I always kept Cynthia's hat in my bag. :P

  • Oh wow! I had no clue that other people do this, too! I've held on to it ever since the original, back when there wasn't a bag to put it in. ^_^

  • This is probably the first artwork of the DQ4 hero I've seen that doesn't make him look retarded. This includes official art.

  • now i wanna play this game NOw

    the story's too epic

  • wow must buy the remake

  • WOW this is the best xD

  • Does anyone know where I could find this without the subtitles?

  • Has anyone noticed that the hero and Psaro are in a similar situation here? Both of their loved ones have been killed by an opposing race (humans vs demons) and so both of them are out for revenge. But at the end, both Cynthia and Rose are resurrected. And also, as an interesting bit of trivia, both of them are elflike. Everyone who feels pity for the hero should feel the same about Psaro and turn all their rage towards Aamon.

  • Good observation, I'm sure that was intentional. I didn't catch that the first time I played the game.

  • hey! ur rite.but then Psaro And The Hero

team up after Rose is brought back to life,

and Psaro and the Hero kill Aamon, So both of them ended up getting their revenge like u said.

  • In the original game, neither Cynthia (who I don't believe had a name in the original) nor Rose get ressurected. Everyone who dies stays dead. Postgames in DQ have historically been non-canon. This means Ortega is dead (DQ3), Rose and Cynthia are dead (DQ4), and God never ran around in his boxer shorts (DQ7).

  • Yeah, except for your comrades who died in battle. A simple resurrection with magic or in the church should do it.

  • @TheImmutable Actually, her name was Celia in the NES translation.

  • Comment removed

  • You're right about Ortega and Rosa in the original games, but Celia did come back to life at the end of NES 4. Well, kinda. They never explained it, so I always thought the hero was living with her memory, or was haunted by her ghost.

  • I assumed it was the Zenith Dragon thanking the hero for saving the world. That may be too idealistic for a Dragon Quest game though....

  • He may have done the same thing in Dragon Quest 5 by reviving the civilians of Whealbrook at the end. I think at the ending in Dragon Quest 4, he did get around to reviving the rest of the ones who died for Solo, he just did it a bit later after reviving Eliza, she was only revived for 5 seconds until the screen went away.

  • Good point, plus it's completley possible; after all, the Hero/Heroine (and by extension, the rest of the Chosen ones) just saved the world from annihilation (Psaro's maleficent energy did reach all the way to Zenithia), the least a physical God could do is revive a girlfriend/best friend as a sign of appreciation. It may even have been the events of IV that cause Zenith dragon to change his views of humanity and try to live in their world for a time.

  • The Zenith dragon should also take into consideration that if humans did not defeat Durran in Dragon Quest 6, then he might not have even been born.

  • @safdsAFsfrfsaf You're looking surprisingly deeply into an NES game...

  • @darkdrium99 it's all that aamon guy's fault

  • @darkdrium99 I was just thinking that it's like the hero and psaro are the same they just channeled there feelings diffrently the hero into saving the world and psaro into destroying the only true villian was Aamon I hate that guy

  • @darkdrium99 argh the game is spoiled...i couldn't help but read this...

  • @darkdrium99 They're resurrected? In DQ4 I'm looking for the legendary equipment but I mostly play DQ6 training Goowain or train my sage in DQ9 from time to time so yeah...

  • @darkdrium99 You could have said spoiler warning I just bought the game...

  • when she died it was the first time a rpg made me cry a bit

  • me too.. I was all like "Oh Noees..!"

Poor girly.. this song still makes me cry a little.

  • yup, its why I loved the ending of the game that she gets brought back from the dead, same with rose if you chose to do a long ass sidequest

  • Ive been playing this on the DS recently and this is the 1st time an rpg game moved me to tears. In response to some comments down below and within the song itself... i never had the NES version, was there some kind of dialogue or revelation of his feelings using the transform spell to turn into Celia/Cynthia/Eliza and speaking to a mirror? Because it sounds like they are saying it was left ouf of the DS version if there was... and if so what was it? Thanks

  • i havent played the NES version either but it's to my understanding that in the remake they completely left out the part chat feature, which could have expanded on this. If you've ever played DQ7 or DQ8, you'll see the feature in those games and it really fleshes out the characters quite a bit. You learn things about them as an individual, group, and how they would act in certain situations and with each other that you would otherwise not have known.

  • I have not, but I just bought the NES version off ebay because i dont like roms and when I see that the original version of a game is different (you couldnt even control the other members of your party, just give them tactics) i always want to play the original, so i guess ill find out soon enough

  • Just buy a DS and buy the DS version. LOL

  • ROMs should be exact duplicates of their physical counters, unless the one you got was patched in a weird way. It is correct that in the NES version you *cannot* control your party. In the NES version, the only person you can control is Hero. The NES version won't have the extra chapter at the end either.

  • Yeah. The DS version gives you an option to control how they act automatically or you can control them yourself. Sadly, in the DS Version they don't use items as tools like they did in the NES.

  • The advantage to auto-battle is that they can change their move during the battle phase. Really nice when a healer does that.

  • Actually, there is a Game Genie code for the NES version that lets you control your other party members.

  • Probably the most depressing Dragon Quest game since even the main villain has a reason for why he is doing it.

  • This part always made me cry uncontrollably. Especially in the NES version. When the soldier from the village came to the cellar and explained that the monsters wanted to destroy the hero and that he is a threat to them, for the hero to escape and survive... Cynthia's departure was the breaking point for me. =(

  • I just got this awesome game for my B-day, and I just played this part ;)

Boy do I feel guilty for beeing born ;P

  • Very good song. 5/5

  • Omg I was crying in this part of the game :c

  • Beautiful really. One of the best songs I've heard.

  • great video, man i remember just getting so pissed off during the game when Cynthia got killed by that hord of monsters. The rest of the enemies in that game felt my WRATH!!!!!

  • Weird question, but can the hero actually learn the transformation spell that she used?

  • Comment removed

  • He learns it at level 20 in the NES version, but not in the PSX or DS versions.

  • oh, I was wondering about that too.

Can it replace the Mod Rod, or can he only morph into Cynthia

  • No. It's actually what MANEMANE/Imitators/Imposters/Copycats/float-o-copiers use to mimic your party members. And since it's not in the DS version, it can't replace the Mod Rod...or the Staff of Transformation, for that matter.

  • It's really sad and beautiful

  • would you please send me this song i have looked all over for it and i cant find it

  • I love the intro at 19 it's the best part

  • exellent job.

  • Man this is really good. Not only the song but the way he adds the elements from the story, and did he mention the feather cap you find in the middle of town that belong to Cynthia/Eliza? Thats attention to detail!

Sad song, great video, great game!

  • it sucks when you think that someone's life would be better if you were never born.

  • very sad... i've just played the game, so i now how he's feeling...

    "going to favorite"

If i can request a thing from you...

CAN YOU SUB THE TORNEKO SONG???

    That would be really cool.

  • weird i dont see this song anywhere in hyadains channel o.O?

  • Awesome, it fits the hero's feelings very well ^^

  • it'd be amazing if someone had the mp3 rip of this song. i downloaded one but its pretty crappy. if someone could either tell me or source me a good quality copy, either 128kbps or better, then pls reply

  • Wow.. I haven't gotten that far in the game yet, but.. whoah, strong feelings thar.

  • Wow, this song is great! It sort of reminds me of Love is War by Miku Hatsune :D

  • Yeah... sorry. I was trying to fiddle with it to see if I could get the text to appear at the top but no go. X_X

  • @n00bAvenger I'm pretty sure that the translation isn't "fragrant of flowers", but instead "fragrance of flowers".

  • Wow, thanks for subbing this, man. Manhattan Snow gave me a translated script and I was going to add a sub to mine, but now I don't need to.

The only thing I had to point out was the how the subs get confusing toward the end, with both the song and the on screen text translation. I would've just kept to the song lyrics and added the text translations with an Annotation.
