  • wheezy is coming......

  • an open source replacement for the unix standard kernel, right?

  • which is your opinion on the wayland display server protocol?

  • HURD=Herd of Unix Replacing Daemons

  • not exactly a programmer...but I read too much on the subject.

the enough to know that at lack of your own desktop, a multi-platform toolkit ONLY for GUI's sounds more or less perfect. If your not going to use HTML5 that is.

  • @asperger1981 but there already are many good desktops and other worries come first :)

  • has anybody thought of using FLTK to do a default grafic user interface?

or are you going to use gnome?

  • @asperger1981 You’re welcome to test it!

  • when will it be fully released? and where can i exactly torrent the source code from?

  • @fighterpiolt1992 The source is available via git from git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/hurd - no need for a torrent client :)

You’ll likely be more interested in the CD image, though: people.debian.org/~sthibault/hurd-i386/installer/cdimage/

  • Hurd support Drivers for Linux? 3D speed aceleration?

Eu não quero voltar pra época do terminal não.

  • @krosakikyo It has X11, though still a bit flaky. 3D accelleration will take some time, though the DDE framework which Zheng Da ported makes it easier to port Linux drivers.

  • What is this for?

  • @kurniasan for those interested in the hurd development.

  • @ArneBab I mean, what does the hurd for?

  • @kurniasan see hurd.gnu.org for a description in a few short lines

  • @kurniasan The Hurd is a free replacement for the Linux (kernel) using a more flexible design (microkernel with userspace servers) which allows every user to change far more of his/her environment (without needing root rights) than in Linux — without affecting other users.

    See hurd.gnu.org for a clearer description :)

  • @ArneBab The Hurd is not replacement of linux kernel.

The GNU Hurd is the GNU project's replacement for the Unix kernel.

  • @smixalis0 *today* it is a replacement for the Linux kernes :), but yes, emphasizing GNU a bit more is good.
