  • I see the point of the video.. yeah.

But thb the tittle should be changed to:

"What people without girlfriends do on a Saturday".

  • Were they all car detailers.... or participants in the Special Olympics? Fuck, I've never seen so many retarded losers in a single group before!

  • poor saab :(

  • The only thing i've burned through was the paint on a plastic bumper ....it takes more heat to burn the paint on a metal panel than it does for plastic , also on the chevy trucks they have these weird rubberish plastic moldings on the door that burn reallly easy ...Beware lol... p.s I hate orbital buffers

  • Interesting stuff.

I've never used a rotary or a DA because I'm terrified of doing some serious damage, but after seeing just how much pressure is needed and for how long, I might just get hold of one :)

  • I wont be buying the product.

  • LOOKS LIKE IT BUFFED RIGHT OUT

  • Po co tego zloma szlifowac, to niebyl majbach...

  • I do that kind of stuff all the time when i dont feel like taking out big runs for the painter!!!

  • I'm amazed what it took to get it to burn, that was a long time with a lot of pressure.

  • will you shoot yourself in your next vid to show us what could go wrong while using a gun

  • what was the point of that.... this is just painful to watch

  • when smoke is coming out , you know you are doying a good job

  • idioci co tym smiesznego?

  • no shit he's gonna burn the paint that way, dumbass...

  • @jo5566200 @jo5566200 That was the whole point of the exercise to show people what paint and clear coat failure looks like. It isn't somthing you want to see but without seeing it in the first place you won't know what to look for. It was done so people could see if a car had paint problems before you start no point going over a car and taking the job on if there is already damaged areas due to over zelous polishing and yes it is possible to go through the coats without a machine.

  • @johnenty Sorry, but that is not clearcoat failure, that is simply burning the hell out of the edges. You make no sense in what your saying.

  • I hate stupid dumb ass people. Anyone notice they are car care product makers? Im sure their products wont do what 3m did. A true waste of our time and theirs. Title should have said how much damage a person with no life can do to a cars paint, not a rotary. Funny part is the lady standing in the back has a look of omg thats amazing didnt no if you held it in one spot it would do that.. O boy

  • well, yea your're going to burn the paint if you stay int he same spot for 30 seconds.

  • Good video but it is a lot easier to get burn through than that. Poor technique with a cheap rotary and a quick catch with the edge of the pad will do it. The vid kind of makes it look a lot safer than it is in some ways.

  • yes its dave kg. he is only demonstrating the dangers of polishing. who cares if the car was burned it was the whole point of doing this demo......

Keep the negative useless comments to yourselfs.

We done this in the unit as well doing a set of fast cut at 3000rpm to show what noobs with a polisher can doo. needless to say we did nothing but destroy a 3m compounding pad a section of a bonnet and also got the panel up to 209 degress c :)

  • Stupid fucks, you are gay destroying this car :x

  • I hope the car belongs to some worthless mf'ing labour party member

  • its alot easier to burn a car from excess sanding then just buffing alone.....you can tell when the paint is getting thin when it has a completely clear reflection as opposed to grainy when the paint is still thick

  • I have to say Dave is a legend in the detailing community and some of the nobbish comments on here are pathetic. I cant even understand how some of these tools ended up viewing this video? Ive been to a meet like this and as stated its a bit of fun at the end and also shows people who are scared of machine polishing in any form that you really have to be a numpty to wreck your car. We did it on a bonnet from a scrapyard.

  • Absolutely gay video

  • ebany debil:D

  • Only a bunch of british wankers would waste their time destroying a car and possibly a tool....I can't stand that fuckin laughter, it was so fuckin loud and annoying...and fuck the british accents...

  • Fuck the British accects eh?! Where u from then cunty fuck? If ure a yank then HA HA HA HA FUCK OFF!!!

  • stupid video

  • What a stupid and dangerous way to show a paint burn. I doubt anyone will do this "by mistake"

    Pretty dum video... morrons

  • And not a pair of safety goggles in sight!! just stand well clear when the backing off that pad goes flying off the fan at 3K rpm and as in as many pieces!... I thought someone said this was a training day?

  • the guy was wearing glasses, looks like you need them too.

  • The skinny guy as you put it is an expert with a rotary polisher and runs courses around the UK and yes it is a rotary, a Makita I believe.

Making rude comments about a subject with little or no knowledge is pointless, I suggest you go too Detailing World site and learn.

  • This is a detailing meeting which are held in different parts of the UK and the guy with the Rotary does not work for 3M. These meeting are held to teach detailing enthusiasts how to use a rotary which is the professional tool for removing starches and swirls in paint. This is very different to a porter cable and is not so safe to use by the untrained!

  • This is at the end of the training day and the guy with the rotary is just showing what damage can be caused and also having some fun in the process after showing the correct way on rotary use.

It's just a bit of fun and all of the people there are just learning about correct rotary use so they can use this knowledge to perfect their own cars paintwork. As said it's at the next of training and not mindless fools but a professional rotary user having some fun with showing how NOT to do it.

  • Its a rotary burnout. too much time on there hand's . ha ha nice vid guys

  • Someone actually spent time to film this and upload it to youtube??? yeeeee ha!

  • is the guy polishing DaveKG?

  • Yes it is.

  • Yes it is Dave KG. it's just a bit of fun at the end of the day after he has shown the correct way to use a rotary. But it's seems some on here are seeing fun as having some psychological disturbance!!

It's also to demo to show how hard it is burn through.

Never heard of fun after hard work?!

  • so you say a rotary shouldnt be used by the untrained (rubbish) then say how hard it is for it to burn through? you talk wank.

  • @MKUltraProject I've been to one of the training meets done by the guy you see in the video, it's Dave KG. Yes if can be hard to burn through but a lot depends on the type of paint , i.e. hard or soft and it is very easy to burn through on an sharp edge of a wing. Also it's best to use a paint thickness gauge before machine polishing because some paints are very thin even straight from the factory e.g Mazda. But I'm sure you know all of that being an expert!

  • Constant movement of the rotary and a sensible speed will prevent burning in most circumstances. Its machine polishing, it isnt an ART!

  • @MKUltraProject True but the zenith technique is a good method to follow.

  • bunch of idiots..

  • People are dense. This is a demonstration video.. I see how people can be easily dupe into thinking I Iraq has WMDs

  • I know right? Kinda like how people can be duped into thinking Obama will actually uphold the ideals of democracy under the U.S. Constitution. Crazy huh?

  • nicely said

  • What the guy with the polisher at the beggining of the video doesn't know about detailing isn't worth knowing. He's a pro-detailer and devotes a massive amount of his own time helping us DIY'ers to understand the techniques involved.

  • Whats the point?

  • No one in their right mind polishing a car would would use a polisher at full tilt never mind hold it in the same place for that length of time.

Very few people will know what clear coat failure looked like till this demo was done. and it was appreciated by all there.

  • Polishing always has the thing that ohhh you will remove all the paint keep doing that and I see it as this shows how difficult that actually is to do. the First 17 seconds at full speed on the makita actually did no damage other than heat the panel up the finish was good. it took a 2nd longer hit and a lot of pressure to go through the clear coat.

  • @johnenty it all depends on the pad that you use and how aggressive the compound is. And has the car ever been polished before? is it clear coated? there is so much to ask here to make an exact answer. But yes it can be pretty simple with some clear coats to burn right though.

And has the car ever been polished before? is it clear coated? there is so much to ask here to make an exact answer. But yes it can be pretty simple with some clear coats to burn right though. And yes it does take a bit to burn the centre of a panel, but most burns occur on edges. This guy was at full tilt with a foam pad and hardly anything for a compound on the pad

  • @loveja1 Im sure you saw in the description, it says the compound used was 3m fast cut plus which you will know is quite an abrasive compound.

The video was done at a detailing meet so yes the car had been poilshed before it belonged to a detailer and he was having the front wind resprayed due to a flaw in the paint.

The car does have a clear coat, its metalic paint on a citroen, we are aware of what we were dealing with the demo with the positector 200 told us that.

  • This was a demo on what damage can be done with a rotary polisher. Dave KG is the guy doing the polishing and knows what he is doing.

The owner of the car said it could be done as the wing was getting body shop attention a week later so it wasn't an issue. The owner was also the guy who handed over the farecla G3 at about 4 minutes in known as Harley on Detailing world and then polishes to the end.

  • if i were the owner of that fender (vehicle) i will probably kill that M.F.

  • i'm a member on detailing world and yeah fair do's showing what can be done if in the wrong hands and having a lark obviously!

however makes me now NOT want a rotary!

scared the crap out of me!

  • very stupid people. to many on earth

  • no.. words. for this ........

  • Que gordo pelotudo por dios!

  • The only thing I got from this video was that it takes alot to burn thru the paint. Is this correct?

  • @strumpeteer

Yes and no. If you edge out a pad at speed on a complex curve in the body, yes. If you're working with a hard clear and is not thin and the temperature is cool, no. This is all relative. For a pro, it is difficult unless you become complacent. If you're new, it is pretty easy to make a minor mistake that is also a costly one.

  • No one is dumb enough to leave the buffer in one spot. He is obviously just showing people the damage that can be done.

  • for those posting negative comments, you obviously aren't aware of the full story. I believe the lad in the video is DaveKG from Detailing World. He know's what he's doing, and this was a training course.

It looks to me as tho he was showing what damage COULD happen if done wrong

  • I think this little dude needs to polish himself first..

  • Should not let people that ride the short bus work on your car!

  • retarded video

  • it's like snow foam

    please buff responsibly

  • poor saab or whatever car that is

  • This video should be titled how to polish the car if your a crack-head!!
