Always wondered how Jake managed to pull off Randy's solos without a 22nd fret. Now I know... he just left those notes out or choked them out by bending too hard. Still ,he's my all-time faveorite Ozzy player. BTW, this is how Crazy Train would sound if Van Halen were to cover it. HAHA!
Shove those worthless ass Bon Blow Me keyboards up Sharons ass you goddamn twat-waffle. PS: Jesus loves you and have a nice day!!! \m/ 666 Oh, Ozzys voice sounds like shit AS USUAL.
Ozzy was a difficult druggie to deal with at that time. It's why he and Jake parted ways. Unfortunate, I wish they could have made at least one more album. Both Jake e. lee albums were/are awesome just imo.
Those keys are total CHEESE. Keyboard might be cool if you're Jerry Lee Lewis, but they make Ozz sound like Jefferson Starship. Jake is cool though, obviously.
@InhumaneRessurection really? i went to see judas priest 2 months ago - they kicked ass, whitesnake played the same night - also a great show, saw maiden 2 times in last 3 years, they KICKED ASS, big time, now, where was your floyd in the last, how many, 15 years? :/ I respect, and love Pink Floyd, but don't have much understanding for such retarded comments...
Jake E. Lee, I grow up on this stuff, randy rhoads had some big shoes to filll but this man did it well, I think Better then ZAKK WILD, hate to say it, I love Zakk. OZZY, OZZY, OZZY, OZZY, OZZY, OZZY, OZZY,,,,.....LOVE YA.
@cheaptricked Searching the web, it looks like 12 Jan 83, Helsinki, Finland was Jakes first concert with Ozzy. Heck, I saw Ozzy on (I believe) 17 March 83 in Battle Creek, MI, and Jake was the guitarist. So this video at the US festival isn't even close to being the first with Jake, being the festival was on 29 May 83.
sharon fired him by way of telegram when he was home working on his cars. caught him off guard.
She said he was stealing Ozzy's presnce and fame.... So if that is true then Randy Rhoads would have been gone also , had he not been killed in that plane crash..
@peipotatoguy I doubt sharon would fire randy in fear that he would become to popular sharon loved randy but then again she did that to zakk wylde :O sucks that she has control over him but without sharon ozzy wud have been gone a long time ago.
Damn he was FAT. I can't get over how soft and plump he was. "Diary of a Fatman"
And what is with that stupid keyboard. It sounds like a Disney Version. Or my music teacher from high school somehow got the job with Fatso Osboune. And his voice is crackin' all over the place. What a stinker of a show. Get the Net!!!!
@BSlash24 Well if you wanted to hear the album version, then maybe you should go listen to the album. That way the people listening to the badass live version with all its niches and imperfections can appreciate it without the annoyance of being subjected to your retarded, worthless opinion. I'm busy getting "watered down" over here and it sounds awesome.
@elysium735 don't read it then putz....if you like bloated, watered down versions of songs, more power to you. By all means, enjoy. Its not a niche or live imperfection, its a planned added instrument. I'll go with the Randy Rhoads live version. thanks for you very worthy opinion, you are very spoken person...same guy that said "keyboards, umm, the Doors"....Ozzy isn't the Doors....again, enjoy this version.
@BSlash24 Ozzy isn't the Doors?! Since fucking when? OMG you like Randy best! Thank god, now YouTube won't confuse your preferences anymore. Actually it will since you keep coming back to this video that you hate so much, and now YouTube will recommend you shit just like it.
For the record this isn't my favorite version of Crazy Train either, but it's Jake's first fucking show with Ozzy. If you can't appreciate it, move on troll. Just like I did when your mother got to fat to keep fucking.
@MrAgitator When Ozzy first made his comeback he was much more obese than this and had a shaved head. I think that was when he looked the most bizarre!
@killbillyize Amen! u nailed it on the head my friend … Randy played with a fire that is severely lacking in so many other's playing. He simply attacked the instrument!!!
I saw Jakes 2 nd show in Febuary 1983 in Ft.Myers Florida months before this show happened. I'm pretty sure i remember Ozzy anouncing from stage that it was not only Jakes but also bass player Don Costa's 2nd show when he introduced the band. But sometimes your memory can change over time so maybe there is a tour plan out there somewhere that can conferm it. I definetly remember they were finishing up the Diary tour at that time before going into the studio.
@killbillyize Randy was ready to quit the Rick biz completely after Diary, and Peak of the Devil tour - true Randy fans know this.... He was DONE, he wanted to go out on top (he did anyway, but not the way we all hoped). He wanted to do Jazz.....
This was not Jake's first gig with Ozzy. The first gig they did was in an arena and Jake had major tuning problems due to the cold conditions in the building. He said it was his worst nightmare of a gig. I read this from an interview with him in a guitar mag back in the 80s.
Jake E Lee: "My first gig with you, how many will be there? Over a quarter of a million? No problem, bring it on" The guy must have balls to match his amazing talent.
@killbillyize What? You haven't heard a guitarist "come close" to Randy? Take a listen to Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert and especially Shawn Lane. Randy strenght was his great melody in his solos. But technique-wise alot of guitarists surpasses him. For me, the greatest guitarist of all time, solo-melody-wise, not technique, is Glenn Tipton.
Hey there I am.!! In the front row!! Just kidding.!! Had myself going for a minute..haha!! But man it was great be there. All the chicks, the beer, and all the herb.. Oh ya plus the shrooms, lsd, don't miss that stuff. The line up. Where could see Quiet Riot, Motley Crüe, Judas Priest, Ozzy,Triumph ,Scorpions and Van Halen for $ 20 bucks. Now that was bitchin.
What's up with Don Airey? I mean the guy is an excellent keyboardist and all but the farting sound on the intro of this song just kills. Oh well, it's been over 27 years, what's the use of complaining?

@35Yankeeboy Zakk couldnt hold a candle to Jake or Randy. Randy was classically trained, and Jake (besides Sabbath and Badlands) was primarily a studio/session guitarist and content to be as such. He was great on stage but was never really comfortable with it. Zakk's a poser, the same way Steve Vai would have never existed if it weren't for Eddie Van Halen.
@johnwmcd Lol Im not really a Zakk Wylde fan but I think Zakk is a tremendous guitar player, You cant say he didnt pioneer wah playing, I mean nobody sounds like him. Randy and Dime are my all time favorites. I think the way I posted that couldve been said a little better because I am a much bigger fan of Jake than Zakk. I think Eddie is the first true shredder without a doubt, man you should see the argument i got into with this dude on the 10:00 min eruption video on here. Its fucking NUTS!!
@35Yankeeboy I'm not a musician, but my oldest son is a pretty good Seattle-area guitarist. He says the original Eruption is the hardest guitar solo he's ever tried to duplicate. I'll take his word for it. I'm not really trying to dis Zakk anymore than I would try to dis Steve Vai even though it kinda sounded that way. They are both very good players, just not very original IMHO. As far as Zakk "pioneering" wah playing, well, lol, there was this other guy from Seattle in the 60's named Hendrix?
@johnwmcd Of course, I just mean IMHO he kinda takes the wah to a whole different level. But maybe we can both agree when you hear either of them you know exactly who it is that's playing. Very different sounds and you are absolutely dead on saying hendrix is the FIRST true pioneer. I mean I really didn't pay much attention to that unique sound till Zakk played Miracle Man in No Rest for the Wicked. But I wasnt born till 75 so I never really got into Hendrix so it slips my mind sometimes. Lol
@35Yankeeboy It's all good. I have to give Hendrix props cuz he's buried near my house and I'm worried he'll get pissed if I don't. Zakk was born in Bayonne, NJ not far from where I'm originally from but I'm 2 yrs older. Bayonne is a tough-ass town, makes sense to me now why he looks the way he does...a working-class Yngwie Malmsteen is how I'd describe him
It's the Crazy Train to the Final Countdown...or the Final Countdown to the Crazy Train. :( Never was a big Jake E Lee fan, but I do feel horrible for him, with this being his first concert with Ozzy. The keys just ruined this.
you know what.. they could just let jake get off the fucking stage if they where going to have the keyboard being 6000000 times louder then the guitar.
@ianrlaws Indeed... Randy with his purity outsidet the stage, and amazing performance when on the stage. Brad Gillis... not really xD Jake E. Lee with is, also, fucking awesome performance, the way he just dances and moves and the whole get up, his clothing and stuff makes him different and awesome. Then Joe Holmes who was alot like Slash actually :P And then Zakk who we all know :P
@ianrlaws the shame of it is that ozzy has always been an x-factor of guitarists chosen by sharon dont get me wrong i love em all but its blatant talent whoring to support ozzy.
I DEFINETELY prefer Jake over Zack..No comparison...Zack sounds like the same stuff over and over. S.I.N is Zack's best song. The leads in the song are great. He does too many squeal pitch bend stuff in every song. Jake, I can tell the difference in every single song. I had to follow his sounds after Ozzy and was that like night and day. I loved it!!! Badlands showed his true side as did the album he did covers on. I can't remember it off the top of my head, but my friends love it!.
Jake is more of a pop star guitarist as to Zack is more Heavy metal. thats what it seems to me when they are playing. And you can even tell by the way jake dresses hes into the 70s pop star rock start thing. with the tall hair and colorfull clothing. But over all he is a great guitarsit
@IronGaz Ozzy didn't choose Zakk in 1982 was because he was too much of a 'Randy Clone'.
Jake had more originality in his appearance, played his own free-style solo in his audition tape, and because Jake knew of Ozzy and Randy.
Zakk was a Randy/Ozzy/Sabbath fanatic. Ozzy wanted someone who brought something new to the table; not someone who could play songs note for note, looked like Randy, and kissed Ozzy's ass.
He only hired Zakk because he forgot to throw out his audition tape.
And actually, how are any of the bands I listed "gay" sounding in the slightest? Okay now as annoying as it is I can kind of understand if you're an obnoxious macho guy to call stuff like Helloween "gay" sounding, but the bands I listed? Actually listen to them this time okay? Hear songs like Generally Hostile, Licensed To Kill, Baptized In Blood, The King Is Dead, Chainbreaker, Angels and Demons, Eye of Terror, and Rapture and then rethink your stupidity or give a logical reason.
Most people who actually play guitar think that Jake was the best guitar player Ozzy ever had. Not to say that somebody who plays has a "better" opinion than that of somebody who just listens. But I think a player hears and appreciates things in his style and ability overlooked by somebody who doesn't play. With that said Randy is still my sentimental favorite. FUCK Zakk. Guy sucks balls.
The keyboards were awesome........pause......NOT!!!

I'll take his word for it. I'm not really trying to dis Zakk anymore than I would try to dis Steve Vai even though it kinda sounded that way. They are both very good players, just not very original IMHO. As far as Zakk "pioneering" wah playing, well, lol, there was this other guy from Seattle in the 60's named Hendrix?
johnwmcd 9 months ago
@johnwmcd Of course, I just mean IMHO he kinda takes the wah to a whole different level. But maybe we can both agree when you hear either of them you know exactly who it is that's playing. Very different sounds and you are absolutely dead on saying hendrix is the FIRST true pioneer. I mean I really didn't pay much attention to that unique sound till Zakk played Miracle Man in No Rest for the Wicked. But I wasnt born till 75 so I never really got into Hendrix so it slips my mind sometimes. Lol
35Yankeeboy 9 months ago

Ozzy didn't choose Zakk in 1982 because he was about 14 years old.
It is pointless choosing favourites.
Ozzy has been lucky enough to always have great guitarist's.
Everyone has a "Favourite"but if you enjoy the Ozzy experience each guitarist has always been a great addition to Ozzy's band.

@ianrlaws
Word ! Ozzy is around great musicians..
Damn I want him back....greatest..
Belseful 9 months ago
@ianrlaws Indeed... Randy with his purity outsidet the stage, and amazing performance when on the stage. Brad Gillis... not really xD Jake E. Lee with is, also, fucking awesome performance, the way he just dances and moves and the whole get up, his clothing and stuff makes him different and awesome. Then Joe Holmes who was alot like Slash actually :P And then Zakk who we all know :P

Jake E. Lee is a guitar players guitar player....way better than Zack.
bigtorquehemi 11 months ago
I DEFINETELY prefer Jake over Zack..No comparison...Zack sounds like the same stuff over and over. S.I.N is Zack's best song. The leads in the song are great. He does too many squeal pitch bend stuff in every song. Jake, I can tell the difference in every single song. I had to follow his sounds after Ozzy and was that like night and day. I loved it!!! Badlands showed his true side as did the album he did covers on. I can't remember it off the top of my head, but my friends love it!.
intothearena1 11 months ago
Jake is more of a pop star guitarist as to Zack is more Heavy metal. thats what it seems to me when they are playing. And you can even tell by the way jake dresses hes into the 70s pop star rock start thing. with the tall hair and colorfull clothing. But over all he is a great guitarsit
IronGaz 11 months ago
@IronGaz Ozzy didn't choose Zakk in 1982 was because he was too much of a 'Randy Clone'.
Jake had more originality in his appearance, played his own free-style solo in his audition tape, and because Jake knew of Ozzy and Randy.
Zakk was a Randy/Ozzy/Sabbath fanatic. Ozzy wanted someone who brought something new to the table; not someone who could play songs note for note, looked like Randy, and kissed Ozzy's ass.
He only hired Zakk because he forgot to throw out his audition tape.
gdog066 11 months ago
@gdog066 Zakk couldn't have auditioned in 1982. He was 15 in 1982. He didn't audition for Ozzy till '87 dude.
rjkahlon 10 months ago
@rjkahlon Ozzy's words not mine. I know Ozzy says some stuff that makes me go "Wait... What?"
I still have the interview from a old guitar player magazine.
Let me finish moving/sorting into my new place and I will tell you the magazine month/year. I should find it by Tuesday. Sounds good?

And actually, how are any of the bands I listed "gay" sounding in the slightest? Okay now as annoying as it is I can kind of understand if you're an obnoxious macho guy to call stuff like Helloween "gay" sounding, but the bands I listed? Actually listen to them this time okay? Hear songs like Generally Hostile, Licensed To Kill, Baptized In Blood, The King Is Dead, Chainbreaker, Angels and Demons, Eye of Terror, and Rapture and then rethink your stupidity or give a logical reason.

MrUPALALA 1 year ago
Most people who actually play guitar think that Jake was the best guitar player Ozzy ever had. Not to say that somebody who plays has a "better" opinion than that of somebody who just listens. But I think a player hears and appreciates things in his style and ability overlooked by somebody who doesn't play. With that said Randy is still my sentimental favorite. FUCK Zakk. Guy sucks balls.
