@StayUgly Nope, it was the last of the Soul Blazer trilogy. If you haven't played the other games in the series: They are Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. If you haven't played them, you should check them out.
No Ace Vantura references, no Lion King references, but you still managed to sneak in a History of the World reference at 7:52
(dang nab it, I forgot the name of the director for History of the World. That would have been more appropriate (putting his name in instead of the movie title) as History of the World is not one of his better known movies. Nothing like Robinhood Men in Tights, Blazing Sadles, or Young Frankinstine witch he also directed. Why can't I remember his name!?)
Another brilliant ep, HC! I'll check out ep 19 as soon as I can. Keep up the great work!
Although, I gotta wonder if the similarities between the tree outline that shows up when you used the grass pin at 0:48 and the Mana Tree from the "Mana" series are intentional. They look so similar to me for some odd reason. Maybe I'm just nuts. Well, more nuts than usual, at any rate.
You COULD have made a Liam Neeson reference considering her played a Lion in Chronically of Narnia, or to keep with your Star Wars idea he played Qui Gon in Episode 1
When the lights come up, the three lions in front of Ark have manes and are therefore male. So, I assumed that those three were the lions who spoke in the dark. But, you may be right.
You know, I often forget that Ark ISN'T a silent protagonist. You see, that's not a good thing. While I don't normally care for silent protagonists to begin with, when a character is actually not one, they should regularly converse with the people who are requesting their help for some fetch quest instead of just accepting and then later arbitrarily adding unnecessary dialogue. Will had a similar problem as well, for that matter. At least Blazer WAS a silent protagonist.
That's mostly because this is Chapter 2, my least favorite chapter. There's no one to really talk to, and it's mostly just "kill these guys, go to the next area, repeat a few times, go to next chapter".
Don't worry, the game drastically picks up again in Chapter 3.
@HCBailly hey, theres nothing wrong with praying to pagan gods to make it rain, in fact, thats the way it was in neolythic times... lol paganism has been around for like 2 billion years... its just evolved over time...
Of course they did. They even had gods for sex, booze, the ocean, storms, and grain. They even had a unknown god that is a catch-all for gods they may not know about.
I'm not sure exactly whether rain was the province of any Greek or Roman deity, but most likely it was someone's domain. Due to the aridity of the climate, though, a lot of irrigation for crops came from rivers, many of which had their own associated god or spirit (Greek daimon, whence our word 'demon').
3:10 ...wow, that's a real, um, subtle reference there, game. This game did come out a year or so after The Lion King was released, though an SNES RPG seems like a strange place to drop a nod to a then-recent Disney movie.
"Whoa. I know lion-fu."
That boss was a scary looking bastard..usually, they don't start getting all that spooky looking until near the end of the game..also, it's also cool to see multiphase boss fights.
life is meaningless unless you venture into a dangerous canyon alone and risk death. sorry king, i think socrates would say something different. "the unexamined life is a life not worth living."
Zeus is the Greek God of the Sky and Lightning thus he is the god of Weather so rain would be his department. Poseidon has nothing to do rain what so ever being the god of the sea and earthquakes. Demeter is the goddess of the harvest but she seems to have power of the seasons for when Persephone goes to the underworld the seasons change to winter and when her daughter is back on Earth the seasons change to summer.
It would be either Poseidon (god of water) or Demeter (god of the harvest). Poseidon since water is rain :p and Demeter because of the whole Persephone drama and the sole fact that she is responsible for all harvest on Earth.
ark is like a final fantasy character that can survive falls from any hieght and im really leaving too much coments

I find it strange how no one mentioned that frog there in the grass.
Pink Text=Elle
Frog=Elle
She must've incarnated herself into a frog on the outside world.
There has been fan speculation about that frog, anyways.
And by the looks of it, she's not too happy being a frog.
kaiserzero61 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Well, by that reasoning, one of the lions who advocates eating Ark is also Elle. Simultaneously. While being male.
DMetroneis 2 years ago
I knew someone was going to come say that and spoil all the fun. Boo.
The fact that it's pink text signifies that it's a female, BTW.
Come on, you can't have an all male society.
Maybe it was a lioness off screen.
You never know.
Don't worry, we'll see more of that frog soon.

Well, it is no directly said what god of Greek mythology is god of rain. Zeus is lord of sky and I read that he can be god of rain as well.
Most of books I read says 'lesser' god of rain is Ganimedes (Aquarius), servant of Zeus.
