  • Is the metal edge of the LCD monitor power under

(Translated with google translate from Dutch into English)

  • But how to connect it to a dvd player?

  • i've made one and it worked ! thanx

  • have you ever heard of a drill?

  • fucking nicely done.

  • Nice edit man!

  • I was aware of this type of conversion before i watched this video but nice to see it done, very nice job!

  • i see what my next project is

  • lol nice. VEry easy to make and much cheaper than a normal projector ^^

  • Hey thanks for the video! its great. um, just wondering, im building one and wanted to know the easiest way to hook it up to things besides a comp, u think an adapter directly from cable? or maybe through the computer? or a dvd player? im stumped...

  • hmm, you can use audio/Video Control System like Sony STR-DB930 amplifier etc. and connect as monitor/tv and switching between devices in the amp...

ps. sorry for my bad english.

  • hey guy,

the video was awesome learned a lot just one question wat waz the distance btwn the projector and the screen where the pic was displayed and wat waz the size of the screen?

  • ok, after googling a bit, i found out that a 65W CFL will produce about 4000 lumen (i think it's more than enough) and considerably less heat

  • regarding power consumption and heat generation, would it be possible replace the original light source of the projector fith a CFL light bulb?

  • Awsome idea :)

  • thanks 4 vedio,u realy changed my view of thinking,soon i will buld my own projector...THANKS ... I am 4m INDIA

  • hi dude i am 4m INDIA.....THANKS ALL LOT...4 that vedio,,u realy changed my view....soon i will have my own.....thanks

  • Hay do the light's in the over head projector do any thing for it ? plzz get back to me fast

  • how much cooling does this need to keep from melting my monitor?

  • very good muy buena idea

  • Awesome!

  • i already did this with a 15" Medion LCD..

picture quality is perfect... but you have to use a fan to keep the display from getting to hot or even melting..

one big drawback: power consumption :(

my OH-Projector alone (without LCD) uses 360Watt :(

  • Nicely done! Interesting idea and a very well-made video. I might suggest a power screwdriver instead of seeing all the screw turning. ;-)

  • I just wanted you to know that I find this INCREDIBLE! I will try it out definitly! Thanks for the video... I want so much a projector and don't want to pay for it. Just don't like paying and love challenges :)

  • Just a heads up to whoever would love to make this: YOU CAN'T USE ANY LCD. Do your homework before you do this.

  • interesting. im sure the picture quality leaves a lot to be desired, and i'm wondering how long until it melts, but still very interesting

  • I doubt it'll melt.

  • No, its cheaper because when a real projectors bulb starts going out it will cost you an arm & a leg!

  • omggg thats cool... and truegeeza,,, its cheaper this way,,, much cheaper.... :D

  • So true. A LOT cheaper. I just need to find an lcd tv screen... Or another flat screen.

  • Better buy a new one!

  • lol I did. Not 15'inch though. The overhead projector display was too small for a 15' so I bought a 12.1'.

  • why dont u just buy a bloody projector

  • genial.great

  • very crafty. not sure how practical it is but it's clever.

  • DON'T DO IT THIS WAY.Them lcd flaps on the side tears like tissue. Once you get a single rip in one you wasted 100$ dollars. Try LCD PANEL in stead.

  • wow that is cool

  • who is gonna bother taking apart a perfectly good lcd apart,,, why the risk

  • It doesnt have to be a perfectly good working one , it can be one with a dead back light or one that is very dimm.

  • how about placing a heat blocking film under the screen? like those used on car's windshield?

  • i like your simple edea very much but i have one question. there are 2 curcuit boards attached to the lcd, one on the bottom and one along the side. how did you reattach the cable between them or is it possible to have a clear display with just the bottom circuit plugged in?

  • Terrible idea! The heat from the projector bulb will damage the lcd display!

  • CAN ANYBODY HELP ME TO FIND AN OVERHEAD. cant use ebay.

  • y cant u use ebay?

  • best part is it costs about as much as a replacement bulb for a good quality projector, like mine... i doubt it'll do 1080p though :P

  • I could see this working well in classrooms, since overheads are in almost every one of them

  • really nice, BUT YOU DONT NEED TO PASS THROUGH THE IMAGE! hauhaeuaehuaehueahueah!!!!!!

  • PROS: cheap/easy

    Cons: noisy, lots of heat.

The fan stops the lcd from distorting (they are heat sensitive) I started with oen of these, moved on to self contained systems with cold mirrors and fresnels. Less noise and looks better

  • rad dude!

  • nice job, great for home cinema :D

  • Could you make me one? lol... how did u hook it up? and how did the fan help? wasn't it just blowing over the top of the screen?

  • Oh hell yeah

  • thought this was a great idea i had to build onr myself thanks works very good and all who c are impressed thanks again and if you shop around you could do it for under £60

  • i thought this was a great idea ihad to build one myself thanks works fine and all who c are impressed thanks again, and if you shop around you could build it for under £60 that what i did

  • I admire the thought and work put into this, but in the end your left with a bulky thing in your room and quite honestly I believe my Projector(epson)can be had for 600.00 cheaper yet on e-bay...I'm sure there';s cheaper ones yet out there...bulbs are 175.00 and I'm still going on 6000 Hours with mine although I here that kind of life is uncommon...average of 2000 hours.

Enjoyed the how to still though..Thanks

  • niezłe niezłe

  • you have corners cut, waste of money

  • How did he connect the video once it was connected to the overhead???

  • are you serious?

  • thats awsum

  • u r da man!

  • Very well done...it's actually better than spending lots of money on a real projector like I have...and the picture quality looks great...It gives me motivation in building one cause I know soon the lamp on my projector will die out and it would cost me $300-$500 bucks just to replace it...Good Job!!!

  • This is awesome! Thanks for the help!

  • Incredibly amazing!

  • that was freaking awesome!

  • so how many hours did you leave it on for?
