The reason they say that Jesus picked them even though they were teaching wrong things is because he could see that they were willing to change their teachings. Now the proof Jesus picked them is shown by them changing their teachings.

Which begs the questions-If Jesus selected them as his earthly representatives, wouldnt he give them the TRUTH from the onset? Would he then change his teachings after 2000 years to fit his new "church"? Is Jesus just "making up the rules after the game has started"? Is Jesus improvising? I dont think so. The name and use of "Jehovah" did not occur until 16thC, that is 1600 years after Christ. Jehovah is a made up name.
