That's why I paid extra and got an EHEIM 2180 with a built in heater. £325 and worth every penny! I looked at the fx5 but the stupid design of it makes if very difficult to fit in most aquarium stands my EHEIM fits snug perfect in my stand. And the build quality doesn't come close
it's one of the best filters on the market at this time. IMO, it should be hidden inside the stand since it doesn't look too sexy unlike the Eheim Pro3.
I to have a fluval fx5 on my 130 gallon planted tank. It's awsome! Lots and lots of room for media, 600gph and easy to clean and set back up. Noise? what noise? mine is whisper quiet.
Wow i second that. Man thats crazy i would hate to have to clean that up when those legs give out. Thats AT LEAST a 75 gallon and at 8lbs a gallon thats sure asking alot from them.
I have had a lot of internal and external filters. I have just purchased the 305 fluval external brand new. Its soooo silent, and leaves the water crystal clear, and easy to setup.
yaeh i have a fluval 105 for my 30 gallon and the water is so clear i keep the water level like where you cant see it because of the rim and sorta look s like theres o water.... from like 10-15 feet away.. but up close you can tell
I own an FX5, 405 and 305 and they are all roughly the same noise level. The millionair pump to provide bubbles is by far the loudest thing in the tank. Prior to starting yours up, did you fill it with water or did you just let it self prime? If you did self-prime there is always a chance of damaging the impeller =/
Sounds like you have something buzzing in the impeller. Don't use loose charcoal or anything that is smaller enough to get through the plastic grating. The manufacturer advises customers to put filter media in a bag to prevent this from happening.
i like your tank dood

It may be a steel table, 2x2x1/8 steel tubing is incredibly strong on end. 6 legs 100 lbs per leg not so bad
