It also highlights the insufferable angst that affects most teenage girls, and their relationships with other girls, their families.and their search for love and acceptance.

Well actually, if I am not mistaken, the timeline was changed when stewie went back to the past and saved that timelines stewie from the near-death experience.(only to be shot by that timelines stewie.)

Meaning it is now unclear if Meg will become "Ron", because the alteration causes a ripple effect. It is highly unlikely the future we saw will resemble the current future.

But then again, it is just a cartoon, and we will never see meg age. (most likely.)

I think that in this show everyone hates Meg because she is actually beautiful. I'm not sure how I can prove this, but maybe her family and community peers despising her so much (or even a little) has changed the way she sees herself, which is reflected in the show, making a statement about self-esteem and self-image. Also it leaves lots of room for heartless yet (sometimes) funny jokes about unwanted children that hurt, a little. That's just my two-cents.
