Triggered or not, you're still playing the parts, It's not like they're flown in, I have backing tracks too. Triggered sounds in many cases just sound better so are you there to be a purist snob, or to sound the best you can?
@mercury4metal What's a "triggered drum"? I agree about the pedal, kind of, but if you knew anything about pro-audio you'd know that even people like Danny Carey, Simon Phillips and almost *all* metal drummers use "triggered drums" in large venues to control the sound, usually on their bass drums. I don't think you know what "triggered drums" are...
i think it is a great invention.......because is keeping busy only one foot....with other foot you can play a hhot hat gibraltar for example...and the efect is great.....i think....
Hey can anyone teach me (or point me to the right video) to tune my drum kit? Right now my drums sound like card board boxes. haha! I really like how his drums sound.
how long did it take too set the pedel up for your settings?? when looking at pic's of this pedel there are switch's on the pedel itself/ what do they do? please reply
@1663PPP I understand what your saying, but what Iam talking about is the two-little-switchs on the pedel itself, they look like dip-switch's/ what are they for / please advise....
I have both an acoustic and an electric kit, and some might say that putting mesh heads on an acoustic is a mix between both. Honestly, the feel and sound i can get out of my Acoustic Ride, and china and crash etc. Is impossible to match with electric drums. I have a Roland TD-20Sx and as realistic as it sounds, it doesnt come close to the real thing. Although, if you are doing this due to noise issues, Better that than nothing
There are many complex reasons & preferences in why people use electronic kits. While the TD-20 sounds are very good, I agree, they don't come close to a real kit, especially when recording. I am now looking VST where sounds come very close.
I am fortunate to be able to use both 'a' and 'e' kits, however, as you know, 'e' drums have opened up drumming to a whole world of people that either don't have the space or seclusion to be able to play an acoustic kit.
'e' kits do also enhance a little what you are able to play (due to the bounce)
For me, by using the Smartrigger cymbals (real under dampened cymbals) it certainly helps with the feel issue when in my studio and I also use an 'a' kit converted to an 'e' kit for the sense of perspective and scale of my 'a' kit.
I do also now use 'e' drums in my stage kit as it opens up a whole new world of sounds, so personally, I am very thankful to have both formats.
why do people call this pedal cheating...i really dont understand. how is this pedal any different that a double pedal setup. if the dualist is going to be called "cheating" then the double pedal should also, the purpose of the double pedal was to make eighth note bass drum parts easier than just a single beater...and thats what the dualist is doing...just taking that one step further so the left foot(in most cases) is free to express the drummers mind via hats, tambourine, wood block or whatever
First of all, I must say that I like your playing style, and you are quite a good drummer.
But, I don't like the sound of this pedal, when you "double" it, it sounds so unperfect, not stable...the double pedal sure has a more controlled feeling, and beats.
These pedals are utter garbage. They are totally uneven sounding, have a heavy feel and drag terribly. I owned two double pedals and tried them for awhile, then finally sold them as they were useless. And I have been playing for over 40 years. Maybe that's the key. If you're just starting out and don't know any better these may work for you because you have to develop a totally different style and approach for them to work for you. I'll stick with my 2 Axis pedals.
how are the smart trigger cymbals, are they like the alesis surge cymbals? is there choke capability and bell sounds? and how much can they be? thank you, please reply
Oh good, because we all wanted to know what the fuck you were thinking. It's not fucking cheating you dumb ass fuck. Music is not a competition. If new technology lets someone make a sound they like, who the fuck is some cunt hole faggot such as yourself to some out of the wood work and say something is cheating? By your logic, a normal double bass pedal is cheating. Get another drum. Or is that cheating? Have a faster foot then. Fucking dumb-fuck bitch. Go kill yourself.
I have 3 kicks to be exact i set them all up on singlesand play the third pedal with my cock would you like the position to be taken by your face...if not i bid you a good day sir and yes drumming is a competition
Niel Peart doesn't "beat" Phil Rud at drumming. You must be some sick, twisted, small-dicked pussy to be so insecure of yourself that you need to turn art into a sport where you need to win. Do us all a favor and never eve sit down a drum kit ever again, because music does not need some arrogant little prick like you spewing forth judgmental falsehoods such as "drumming is a competition".
are they the smart triger cymbals? Have you had any problems with pealing? Im thinking of converting an acostic kit to electric in the same way, does it create the same acostic feel? what trigers are you using?

Hey man, Nice set...sounds amazing, great tones! I don't know...It almost seems like it would be easier to use a double bass pedal but then again I never tried this guy out. But nice vid!
no offense to anyone but I think the dualist is for inexperience drummers who can't do regular double pedal and keep the beat right and stay on tempo, no offense thats just what i think
ok its not cheating you cant cheat in music this isnt a game dumbshits the people who complain are those who get showed up by people with this pedal or cant afford it if your gona cry about drums and your a drummer get the fuck outa here
there's not cheating on drums, this pedal is just making someone who doesnt have enough skill to play double bass well enough have that double bass sound with their playing, i dont like it, but its not cheating, its just a way for less talented drummers to play like they are more talented then they actually are
if what you say is true then you should definitely have one because you are not talented in any sense of the word. and im being generous with my opinion of your playing. really, take up another activity like watching tv or napping.
Have you picked up on how stupid that sounds? If they're not talented enough to do double bass the natural way, they should practice more or just play singles. If you like hi-hat accents and double bass, get a longboard and learn heel-toe. There really is no good excuse to own that pedal.
Then you'll have to choose between hats and bass anyway. Assuming one chooses bass, you can do double bass with one foot with the heel-toe technique. Hi
You are correct, they are Smartriggers Cymbals.
I've only had a fault with one of my eight Smartriggers and the problem is with glue seeping. I've not had any peeling.
The sense of feeling is far closer to that of an acoustic kit.
I use Roland RT triggers.
Hope that helps.
