This is probably the most haunting song of Portishead - clear reflection of the relationship between an old school English Gentlemen and a Mistress......
Such a gorgeous voice. I almost can't bear it. The music adds that eerie something to it that just can't be explained. Altogether, a truly masterful piece of art.
MY WIFE TOLD ME THAT SHE WAS PREGNANT AND WE DECIDED TO GET MARRIED RIGHT BEFORE WE WENT TO THIS SHOW SO WHEN I HEAR PORTISHEAD IT REMINDS ME OF BETTER MOMENTS IN MY LIFE
they tried using the theremin the problem is that it interferes with too many other things goin on in that room so it was hard to record with it, id imagine even harder live haha. so that bad ass synthesizer works just as well :)
i've always loved portishead, always. it holds a big part in my perfect playlist, alongside DJ shadow, lovage, aphex twin, so many groups. i did find a track called "day to day" by okabe (french group i think) but i CANNOT get it in mp3 form and it's killing me!!! deff worth checking out though if you did portishead :O)
He ecuchado muchas bandas de Trip-Hop , pero siento que esta siemplemente es la mejor , se me pegan derrepente muchas canciones de otras bandas, pero Portishead Tiene un Feeling ts son un uen trip (h)
I must that this has to be one the most beautiful weird and unique song i have ever heard. even though ive known them for awhile, i love the mood and ride it takes you for.
@Dwaggysnaxx My point was to agree with the comment I replied to; to say that not only was it not a real theremin, it wasn't even a real organ, and to register my shared disappointment about that. I was reaching out, if you will, to another voice in the electronic aether, irrespective of (or perhaps because of) the gulf of time that separated the two comments. So, Dwaggysnaxx (if, indeed, that is your real name), the question is, what was your point?
@hammerness Dude, that's a MOOG synthesizer he's playing... MOOG happens to make the best Theremin there is... so it's not really that far off the mark.
@TheHappydead a theramin-like sound was coming from that Moog at the intro, but theres' no way to control one so well as to duplicate th melody it plays thru, so its a necessary 'evil', get over it,plz

@EyeBlowTreez again, a necessary 'evil' when one considers how it accents on the drop-beats here and there, like at the end. I for one love 'em!
