  • Very well done Sir. You do an absolutely amazing job in your playing. Your passion for Rush's music, history and being - Neil's aspect of which in particular completely shines through in your particular style and contribution. I'm really digging your clips thus far and hope to keep up with you and see much more in the future from you =) 2 Thumbs up!

  • AWESOME

  • excellent work, you're a wonderful musician, my greetings and respect from Guayaquil - Ecuador, I am first and foremost a follower of Rush, and my passion is playing guitar, hits ...

  • UNFREAKIN BELIEVABLE!!! :O

  • Wow. I have seen some good drum covers, but that was really impressive. You have a gift for certain.

  • You forgot the chimes! and they were right there! Only flaw

  • @jayniggy08 After the blocks? First, this is a bell tree, not chimes that you hear on the studio version. Then it is overdubbed on the album; Neil never plays it on the live version. I play the bell tree on the little pad next to my snare and I cannot reach it on time for that block part. I play a little bit later during the guitar part.

  • @Astrotama that is true! I never noticed that. I notice now that the chimes begin right as he hits the last block. Nice observation. Did great. Really wish I had a drum kit like that.

  • @jayniggy08 WOW.. Where can I find your flawless version?? I dont see it anywhere!! It amazes me how people feel like they HAVE to find something WRONG with everything. He did a FANTASTIC job..Neil would be proud!

  • whatt do you have inside your bass drum?? nothing?? a pillow?

  • @bobbydinamita I used to play without any muffling at all. Now I have a small Evans damping pillow and some muffling on the batter head.

  • yove got a gift my friend!

  • fuck man

  • what roland pad you have? the spd-s?

  • Very entertaining. I could watch this over and over all day!

  • Dude ,you are awsom

  • Excellent!

  • Neil...is that you?

  • Amazing! You nailed it! ThAts a tough song I tried to cover once but it was too much fir me. Awesome drum kit too!

  • I see some electric drums behind you. Does the kit rotate?

  • @ladrums1000 No, I do! ;)

  • this is amazing..

  • excellent.. how long did it take for you to play like that? I am thinking about buying a kit and learning. something I have always wanted to do since I was a kid.

  • Tough stuff getting from the cow bells and back. Another great video AT.

  • super pro!

  • your a good drummer

  • What cowbells do you use?

  • @Mnog10 A set of four Tama cowbells, bought 20 years ago!

  • im suprised your not using a ltd dw neil peart kit they released, especially since you got that cymbal kit

  • @TrashMojo The answer: $30,000 is a bit much for a kit. I love my Tamas anyway!

  • Impossibly good

  • Hey wait, so, you have a job in astrophysics? Dude, you and Brian May need to get together and cut an album!

  • @Polybun Hehe! Yes, I'm an astronomer. I've never met Brian but I know of his work on the Solar System dust. ;)

  • @Astrotama It's a fascinating read that! I actually met him a few weeks back at a 3d photography museum. He has a book out at the moment about, of all things, stereo photography. He even turned inventor on it and designed and built a stereoscopic image viewer called the owl. Anyway he's every bit as brilliant as the tone of his rickies.

  • Hey guy, Great job on all! You kick ass, keep it up! Awesome!

  • Love your videos... nice playing always !!

Congrats and keep on rockin... Carlos (Brazil)

  • Great man. Why can't I live next door to you so we could jam? Impossible to find a good drummer, you must be in high demand.

  • You're drumming seems very comfortable and in control congratz it must have taken a lot of practise to get that way.......nice birds :P

  • very goood man! i just loved it!

    congrats from Brazil!

  • Do those pads have to the sounds saved on them? Or are they just triggering sounds off of a laptop?

  • @BassManGilbert On my acoustic side, the electronic pads are plugged in my Roland SPD-20 percussion module.

  • Great job on a very technical song

  • Hey buddy, if Geddy Lee decide to replace Neil... be sure that you will be in the top of the list.... Best DRUMS!! solos I´ve heard

  • I second that, The Camera Eye, a concert rareity, was the most fun for me. I drove my teachers F***ing Mad! finger drumming the opening snare part of that track on my desk back in high school when that album came out. I believe I read somewhere why they don't play that LIVE anymore but I forget,.......Too many overlays in the studio made it too dificult for Geddy to reproduce by himself live ..... or something like that, It's been so long.

  • Great video dude. Your the best drummer I`ve seen on youtube. You should play a new version of The Camera Eye. That would be amazing.

  • amazing kit i love it do you use the paragon cymbals and if so are they worth the money

  • @playskoolonacid Yes, all cymbals are Paragons. In fact, it's a limited edition set of cymbals. All made together by Sabian to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of "2112". They only made 30 sets like this in the world and I was lucky to get one of them! I love these cymbals but they are for specific kinds of music.

  • Another great video. Congratulations, and thanks for posting it!

  • Excellent! Thanks for posting!

  • Great to see youse again Astro'! That's all it takes is having "Fun" - You were great as always! Keep up the great work bro'!

  • Where did you get all the xtra toms? See, I have a 5-piece Tama kit, and I want to play Rush stuff, but it's kinda hard to with only 3 toms...so it would be nice if you could tell me. Thanks

    By the way, nice job!

  • @houseband239 I ordered them through a Tama dealer. That was a while ago though but that's what you have to do with the Starclassic line. There are many stores on the internet as well that can do that for you.

  • @Astrotama i have a tama swingstar set with 3 toms, do you think i would need to order swingstar toms or could i get imperial star or even superstar toms?

  • You make it look so effortless to emulate the greatest drummer ever! Makes me want to learn. Thanks for the videos!

  • How do you pull the drums from the recordings? My daughter is becoming quite the little drummer girl and I would like to video her playing without the original drums overlapping.

By the way.... awesome job, once again!

  • @zynchon The drum track is still there. I try to play it as exactly as possible - never perfectly of course - so you don't hear it too much. I mix my drums a bit louder too. You can hear the original track a little bit for instance on the second fill on the cowbells. My small cowbell is not as high pitched as Neil's so I could not hide it. ;)

  • @Astrotama Well I have to say you cover it about as exact as possible 'cause I can't hear it. That's why I was wondering.

Keep jammn' ! Love watching your stuff.

-And thanks for the quick response.

  • super job!

  • ouuuu thats one of the best ones....

  • great video like all ways man! great song love Rush there like the best band of all time!

  • Astrotama, you freakin rock.

  • Very very Nice!!!! Fabulous!!!!!!!

You dont have idea of how many times I heared this song when I was in the high school.

  • Awesome job as usual my friend!

  • I have a question, how did you mount your granite blocks from left to right like that? My school has them, but they come with two on the bottom and three on top.

  • @JasonDTube The piece of metal holding the blocks has holes in the middle but also at the end. This is how you can mont them all in a row. It was designed that way by LP.

  • u should do the drum solo to in the air tonight by phil collins just for a change

  • I'll check it. Thanks anyway. Maybe sometime we have some talk. Congrats for you nice job, man!

  • Would it be possible to know you a little bit more about you? Maybe we could change some e-mails or facebook? that's 'cause I'm a Rush fun and really like knowing you. Deal?

  • @bassgomes There is quite a bit about me under my channel, including my personal web site. I'd like to chat with lots of folks but I have to limit myself since Im usually very busy with work. I could talk about Rush and drumming all day! ;)

  • Fantastic! I wish that I could play. However, my arms and legs cannot seem to operate independently from one another lol :-( Would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see a higher-quality redo of 'Red Barchetta'. :-)

  • great job! what is that ride cymbal you are using?!?! i love it and wanna marry it!! seriously tho, it is a great sounding ride! please tell me so i can shop for one!

  • @ramonaledge This is the Sabian Paragon ride (all cymbals are Paragons). This is a great ride but it might not be appropriate for all kinds of music. It's very loud and pingy; I play with nylon tip sticks so it's even sharper that way.

  • Awesome job man! Love the bird sounds. Awesome set too.

  • really nice cover

  • amazing cover!

  • Your Ride is sexxxx. Very nice cover :)

  • nice one

  • OK, forget what I said before... I refreshed it and everything sounds (and looks) great lol

  • Always nice when you get to use some of the extras!!

For whatever reason, the sound on this one isn't the same as your other HD vids, sounds like the Hawaii days. Otherwise, fantastic job as usual, and congrats on the million!!

  • 1:47 ...Awesome

And I could listen to the Drum & Bass breakdown @ 2:53 all day
