  • These videos still work pretty well. I just uploaded my first two apps too iTunes (ABTC Basic Calculator and ABTC Scientific Calculator.) Both apps are on iTunes now, and the reviews that I've gotten have been pretty positive so far.

  • No face please, blocks screen.

  • Face helps to "ground it"

  • face is a good idea!

  • cocoa plz

  • I am italian , thanks,thanks

  • i'm watching this for ios dev

  • keepup the good work. tut is awsome. webcam is better....does add a personbal toutch to it

  • great video but i need some help with the "run/console" my mac doesnt have a Run menu and i am using Xcode 4 which i think it a little different...

  • Could you add annotations for Xcode 4? It's hard to follow you.

  • "iPhone & iPad..." You Mean You can program for OSX [Big Cat] or iOS[#]

  • I like your face

  • like your face and tutorial :)

  • thanks guy, I don't miss your words even I'm pretty bad in English Listening.Very Helpful for me.

  • I'm completely new to this. Very helpful! Either way with the face.......Nice to see you.

  • /watch?v=SlbUKsfFTeg&context=C30ded3cADOEgsToPDskKEZfJ74H_XzzozuBktfNBv HELP ME I DONT FUCKING GET IT

  • USE SCREENFLOW!

  • I just started a class on writing programs with obj-c. Are you working on x code 3, 4 or 5. I like seeing your face it gives the video a personal touch

  • how to make such video where your face come at he bottom? can you give me some links or pointers pls?

  • can i go further with learning with knowing anything about programming? not sure what my basis should be to write ios applications.

btw its much better when u can see ur face, seems more personal in a way.

  • good to see you, im taking iphone programming with objective c and art 4d class will watch your videos

  • I think you should just make the box a bit smaller and right on the edge of the screen. (talking about your face in the corner)

  • Nice to see Buckys Tutorials are still active :D

  • hi dude i download everythings fine from app store in my macc but i have a problem i don have the inteface builder program what i do?

  • thanxs

  • You are perfect with your tutorials!

  • hey my code doe snot work with NSAutoreleasepool thing help?

    i says NSAutoreleasepool is unavailable

  • @MrTianrens If you're using xcode 4 then I think they have updated all the code. If you use the code below it should work for you.

    @autoreleasepool { // insert code here... NSLog(@"Hello, World!");  }

  • @ncking thanks ill try it

  • @ncking just asking so does the codes in the tutorials wont work on xcode 4?

  • @MrTianrens Most of it will, but if Bucky tells you to use:

    NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc]init];

    *your code here*

    [pool drain];

    Use this instead:

    @autoreleasepool {

    *your code here*

    }

  • Dude. Nice tutorial but, did you say your name was "fucky?". WTF. lol

  • Yeap - face is fun! :)

  • 'x code out of it' haha nice...

  • this is the basics of objective c? how its just basics of xcode not objective c

  • i hate your face

  • Ill probably get the shit tore out of me for this but is there a way i can get xcode on windows :/

  • @xXGlenMcCXx I don't know if you wanna do this but you will have to install virtual OS X Lion on your PC. ipodtoucher55.blogspot.com/2010/12/installing-ios-sdk-and-xcode-on-windows.html

  • @INeedAName101 OMG! I LOVE YOU! saved me from having to buy a mac mini!

  • @S7347TH7 Glad to help you ;D Could you tell me anyway if it worked for you? I may try it too :D Thank you already!!!!

  • @INeedAName101 Yes it worked for me, on my desktop and my x201 laptop. I think people with an AMD processor have problems but both my machines have intel I5. I used VM workstation 8 though so the unlocker on the website wont work, but you can google for a Workstation 8 version, again thank you!

  • @xXGlenMcCXx I would've torn your shit out had you not have said that. Nope, you'll just have to get a Mac.

  • face is good, but i was more looking into face rather than the focusing on code

  • very nice tutorial. Maybe face at the beginning and end?

  • THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL!!

  • @thenewboston

No idea if you'll see this comment, but Apple has completely changed the interface of Xcode. Your tutorials of Objective C are excellent - but I'm unable to follow. Maybe if you can add some annotations as edits.

    Thanks.

  • Very informative tutorial well thought out-keep the face in as it adds to the learning experience and good manners from a great teacher.

  • Great video, I'm hoping you can help me understand programming as I don't have any idea. Is there anywhere you can learn what all the words mean, like a dictionary?

Your video in the corner of yourself is fine.

  • I also like the face. It allows viewers to know your expressions whenever you are saying things. Listening to a voice through a blank space is not effective for productive learning.

  • Face helps to improve communication and you book friendly. Thanks!

  • Can you make ipad apps with xcode?

  • @52mastermind of couse, thats the official program to make apps on the ipad

  • Uhh ohh... My brain doesn't take this kind of a information.

  • Congrats for this tutorial.

    I like the face below.

  • Merry Christmas!

  • Great Tutorial Man! And i have an very odd question, is it fun to program? Cause I´m going to try it out in March(When I get my MacBook) And do i need Objective-C, Cocoa And X-Code? Or can i just get X-Code?:D

  • The face is good. Go ahead and keep it there. (Just bustin; yer balls. I'm super happy that you posted this)

  • I like to see Your face, it's more personal that way ! :)

/Helen in Malmoe in south of Sweden

  • Good tutorial, good face!

Thank you Bucky, you've made a proficient java newb and i'm looking forward to become a objective c one as well. ^__^

  • Could i do this in notepad++ ?

  • if any body wants c equivalent statements for objective c watch my channel

  • PEOPLE! In case you don't have xcode installed in your mac, you can get it for free! Just take your Mac OS X install DVD put it in your mac and open the folder that's called Optional Installs or something like that, there you should find the xcode installer that also includes SDK(for iPhone developing). Hope I helped :)

  • @GBmagic100 TY

  • can it be downloaded it windows?

  • @sheshuke Hahahaha NO!

  • yes i like to see ur face while studying

  • Yes the face is good, it gives a familiar feeling to a classroom

  • i like the face

  • I like the face, helps with communication. thanks for the help

  • To be honest, your face gets in the way and makes it so you have to move everything around it to fit. Otherwise great Tutorial...

  • excellent tutorial. :)

  • This question is stupid i know but after apple ported itunes qi=uicktime & safari to Windows i have been wondering. If They can be ported to PC then can Objective C?

  • nice tutorial!!

  • i it easier to design a game for the iphone or a straight computer game

  • @lk5699 you need to learn Objective-C either way

  • I prefer without the face, just because there's already plenty that I need to pay attention to on the screen as it is.

  • Thanks at everyone that responded :D

  • Keep your photo where it is mate

  • who needs a Macintosh when you have a Hackintosh?

  • @simplyhalochannel

O yes. Hackintosh all the way. Running i5 with 4gb ddr3 ram, ati 4890 card, dual monitors at 1920 roaring with OS Lion 10.7.2. and X mother freaking CODE

    schweet.

  • u look like shila buff

  • great video, I'm expecting to learn a lot from you from the next tutorials! Also, keep your face in screen!

  • Good video!

  • keep your face

  • Only one question... whats the point of Objective C?

  • @Zackary007007 iPhone apps

  • @Zackary007007 Writing Mac and iOS apps primarily

  • Excellent video!!!!!

  • keeping your face on the screen makes the presentation not so dry please keep it on,but in the bottom left hand corner if possible

  • its o.k u may keep your face :) .. thankx Dude

  • @iiComet lol ok!

  • Now i like ur tutorials even more :D MAC FTW

  • Hey I WANT THEM IN WINDOWS!

  • Have you checked out the Steve Jobs Quotes and Trivia App on your iPhone? :)

  • can i install xcode on my windows xp??? can i i don't have mac.....actually...

  • @MsArsalan123 xcode is not available for windows...only Macs

  • Wait... Is your computer in the kitchen?

  • this series is purely for mac users only?

  • i like your face included

  • Your face i good Makes me feel like I am dealing with a real person. please continue.

  • Awesome !!

  • Can I combine c and c++ in a program and will I be able to make better programs if I just learn c++ and not c?

  • @spy85able I'm not sure I fully understand your question... Do realize, C++ is an extension of C (basically it's the same language with extra features). While there are major differences, someone just starting off (I'm assuming you have never written a program before) won't notice them until they get enough of an understanding to really start making applicable programs; by then you should have the know-how to easily switch between the two, though you may never need to!

  • @spy85able If you are truly interested in learning how to program, then I suggest doing either (or both) of these:

    (1) Buy a programmable microprocessor (like an Arduino), as they're fun to play with and with enough practice you'll be able to write programs and build electronic projects in no time. The programming language used by the Arduino's closely resembles C++. I always suggest this as a great starting point, because it's far more engaging than software programming!

  • @spy85able If you are interested in learning a language, then I suggest you try either (or both):

    (1) Buy a programmable microprocessor (like and Arduino), as the language used closely resembles C++, giving you a chance to get an understanding of the syntax used by not only C/C++, but many languages. I tend t suggest this, because it's far more engaging than software programming and it gives you important skills used in basic electronics!

    (2) Learn Python-- a supported, easy to learn language!

  • thank you soo much Bucky.. u have no idea how much i owe you.. :D

  • tank you bucky :D

  • prefered Tara Reed's butt...

  • keep the face man, thank you for your efforts..

  • Friend very good, your videos help much. Can you recomend me a book about ojective-c????? And I'm want to learn to develop I'm phone some tips.

thanks friend, and do more videos.

  • Does anyone knows if I can learn Obj-C as my first programming exp. or do I have to learn something else before? ( what do you guys recomend, My goal is to learn Obj-C.

  • @iDeceptiCoNx Shouldn't be a problem - you'll only confuse yourself if you learn something else first. You could learn C because C programs are also valid objective C programs but you may as well start with objective C, in my opinion. I'm considering learning objective C after already learning Java and it just makes it so much more confusing!

  • @AdmiralBud thanks for the reply! Lynda.com has incredible tutorials for ObjC, and iPhone/iPad SDK there are torrents available if you want to watch them.

  • "Oh excuse me" lolz

  • thanks you guy,ı am nor english speaker but ı understood you:) keep your face on the videos..

  • This young man is the greatest. I've been dabbering with programming for about 20 years now off and on and finally, i've discovered someone who can teach in plan English. This is the best site available for anyone who wants to honestly learn xCode programming or Object C programming. It is to me the definitive site for all programming needs in this field. God bless you my friend. Henry Holmes

  • What Xcode are you using in this video? I have Xcode 4, is this the same?

  • @OneInTheRiver Hi, but I think the tutorial is in Xcode 3. I kind of had that problem, but got familiar with Xcode 4 as the tutorial went along and found it great. Just take the time to learn Xcode and you can adjust for it with the tutorial. You sure will find it helpful

  • keep camming cuz its like a teacher is teaching us when we actually see you

  • keep the face :D

  • Can you use windows instead of mac???

  • @yoyoswimmer2 Through a vmware, it can be done. and even deploy it to a jailbroken device, it takes a bit of work tho. but if you got money to spare, nothing is better then running all of it natively. or hackintosh for that matter. there are plenty of hackintosh info out there.

  • @yoyoswimmer2 no because xcode isn't supported on windows

  • Keep face!

  • Whenever I see * in code, I run away

  • keep your face there, dude!

  • Love the face part, Keep them in all your tutorial. BIt sad that the C tutorial is ended in the middle, hope you can make a full version after. Thanks for all you tutorials mate, you are great.

  • Keep the face! Makes me pay attention better.

  • LOOOOOOL.

  • Keep the face.

  • Keep the face but make sure nothing important is hidden because of your face being there.

  • Thanks : )

  • Yeah, keep it up. :)

  • i like it keep the face

  • I know this is a year old, but it is on the right track to being helpful. Will you be making new tutorials for the new xcode?

  • I like seeing the person who is giving the tutorial so definitely keep it. Lets Go Yanks :)

  • This was really useful, cheers mate and keep the face! Thanks from the UK!

  • It does come with the OS, just put in the installation disk, and open something called optional installs or something. And should find a folder containing xCode. (Thumbs up)

  • id love to have a convo with someone about the initial download/install of xCode4. i ma having issues and am also new to this sort of thing.

  • Im a software development student, I use my mac to program, Im starting with Java, now... I use JCreator to write code, but i have to boot my virtual machine with windows to use that program. I hate it. I've downloaded a bunch of apps like text wrangler, Kod, and xcode... any way I can use this apps to compile compile code just as in Jcreator or eclipse? help would be apreciated :P

  • @Theboxset I have no clue for java, but for c++ you can compile durectly into a .exe if you want (Wait, do macs run .exe's? I'm mac illiterate)

  • @VictoriusDawn No you are not mac illiterate you are just normal. Windows > Mac OS
