I love them both but why compare a mother to a daughter??? Regines prime had long time passed while charice prime had just started. Regine's voice is superb,,, but her facial expression is flat,no emotions and all she does is stand and sing. Charice got them all,from voice to moves to emotions... Still,, I love regine....

@darkhavvkz not a lot of people believed in charice and regine when they started. the difference is that regine did not stopped until the male-dominated music industry and hard to please Filipinos realized that she has something new to offer. she didn't aim to be just popular she proved that she can actually WIN the top prize in any vocal competition here and abroad. she brought WOW factor in live singing and eventually became the best selling female Artist here. she's more of TALENT than LUCK.

@istatowin2 right on. regine is the best singer in the phil , not only she can sing but attracted and mezmerized male audience , thats why you can say she is the best , ikaw na regine,( in the phil,) but charice was taken cause of her voice superiority, thats all it need tobe taken by the most powerful women in the media and develop further by david foster. she is too short and doesnt have that beauty that will attract men like regine..that why she has has to work harder, but we all love her.
@darkhavvkz cha is not ugly. and there are uglier singer than her using the "standard gauge" of beauty but was able to at least make it in their chosen market. regine herself is average looking in her teens but her voice reigns supreme in the concert arena after winning the Asia-Pacific contest. she turned Philippine stage into a raw and no fear display of singing skills thus changing the perspective of standard live performance in the country. she commanded that. now thats vocal superiority.

PHILIPPINES IS HOME OF GREAT SINGERS. Says PILITA, DULCE, REGINE and JAYA who can actually beat numerous international artists in singing and/or can really sell albums outside Phil. Says BANIG, JED, JONALYN and RHAP who can actually bagged gold medals for the Philippines. Charice is yet to be successfuly commercially nor be regarded as BEST or Great vocal-wise. You know, do some research. Even in the 60s, Filipinos are already competitive in terms of vocal prowess
Charice's discovery was like that of Banig. Appearing in diff. US shows, etc etc. The difference is that BANIG actually won an international star search beating Christina Aguilera who placed 3rd. Cha was discovered through youtube and with lots of emails flowing into Oprah and Denegeres sites (thanks to the persevering filipino support, you guys failed to acknowledge) she was given a good break on US TV.
Regine is already an institution, a standard and a brand. Whether you like it or not, its still a FACT that her exceptional talent, legacy and influence esp. in LIVE SINGING keeps inspiring a lot of young singers in the country. She maybe 41, but charice, la diva, rachelle ann, sarah, angeline, etc. are all reminders that she will always be PRESENT for decades to come. This is probably REGINE's greatest achievement. Something u can deny but cannot take away from her. :)

Dapat natin silang pasalamatan at bigyan ng pugay dahil sila ang nagdadala ng karangalan at pangalan ng ating bansa. Although, personally, i'd rather stay and succeed here in the Philippines and still give honor to our country, but I commend those Pinoys outside our country who bring more honor to our Philippines.

@darkhavvkz not a lot of people believed in charice and regine when they started. the difference is that regine did not stopped until the male-dominated music industry and hard to please Filipinos realized that she has something new to offer. she didn't aim to be just popular she proved that she can actually WIN the top prize in any vocal competition here and abroad. she brought WOW factor in live singing and eventually became the best selling female Artist here. she's more of TALENT than LUCK.

Charice's discovery was like that of Banig. Appearing in diff. US shows, etc etc. The difference is that BANIG actually won an international star search beating Christina Aguilera who placed 3rd. Cha was discovered through youtube and with lots of emails flowing into Oprah and Denegeres sites (thanks to the persevering filipino support, you guys failed to acknowledge) she was given a good break on US TV.

Regine is already an institution, a standard and a brand. Whether you like it or not, its still a FACT that her exceptional talent, legacy and influence esp. in LIVE SINGING keeps inspiring a lot of young singers in the country. She maybe 41, but charice, la diva, rachelle ann, sarah, angeline, etc. are all reminders that she will always be PRESENT for decades to come. This is probably REGINE's greatest achievement. Something u can deny but cannot take away from her. :)

Regine won an international singing competition and was generally successful in major Asian market as a recording artist before she decided to stay in Phil. MTV ASia through Coco Lee even dubbed her as the DIVA of ALL DIVAS. Well, what is charice biggest achievement ba aside from the exposure being given to her by oprah and david? I was a cha supporter since she lose in LBS, i was one of the oldest member of one of her forums and even joined the email brigade for her to guest in Ellen and Oprah after her Star King appearance (which in MY OPINION remains to be her best perf ever). I'll choose charice miles over sarah g or other ASAPartists coz vocal-wise she is better. Why charice has lesser chance here? Because in the Philippines, “Beauty is music to the ears”…lol.. Her album sales here may not have skyrocketted high, but it does not reflect the singer’s vocal ability. Taylor Swift outsells any diva, past and present, last year. She is not even a diva. As a blueprint, Charice career, was most likely planned targeting huge GLOBAL MARKETS like US, Europe, Japan, Korea, etc leaving out the Philippines, a market that's more like a speck of dust.

Prime movers of society like presidents, scientists cannot really fathom out deeper meaning of “octaves”, legato, C5, etc but they comprise the global market. @mindbox100 if you say that regine copies style, can you mention of at least ONE local/international singers who SINGS LIKE HER LIVE? someone with same tonal quality, attack on difficult passages and vocal technique. i guess NONE. For 25 years and after many intrigues, Regine retained her position as one of the most marketable and the most imitated vocal artist in the country. She's still alive but her name is etched in the music and arts book already. :D her LEGACY will continue for sure :)

@mindbox100 what you are telling us is charice EXPOSUREs not her VALUE as A SOLO ARTIST. the thought of her working abroad must excite you a lot that you want to call every press release and tv appearances that is meant to introduced her and not to talk about her achievement as "global icon" a legitimate achievement. lol

@charguard Tanong lang saan sa Pilipinas mo matatagpuan ang china, singapore malaysia, taiwan, hk, indonesia, Korea, Japan, CNN, MTV Asia, CNA at Carnegie Hall? LOL! ANg mga yan nanood ng SOLO concert ni RV, nirecognize siya as REGINE VELASQUEZ FROM PHILIPPINES at BUMILI ng copies ng album niya. can u say the same with Charice? me pastates-states ka pang nalalaman diyan. Ngayon lang naman naging big deal ang mga guestings na 'yan. Pero panahon pa ni Pilita nirerecognize na galing ng Pinoy.

Alam niyo matuwa na lang kayo na nabibigyan ng break si Charice abroad. Thanks to Oprah and David at nagkaroon siya ng maayos na career. SAka na kayo magmayabang kapag naka-gold na sa US ang Charice at naestablish na niya ang pangalan niya dun. pero kung paguest-guest lang siya pwede bawas-bawasan ang kayabangan...nakakahiya masyadong trying hard na. Aside from using david/oprah to win an argument ano bang ipagmamalaki ni charice? NADA! So just shut-up and buy more copies of her album na lang.
