She whiny and nasally in the beginning then goes to a ridiculous gospel-y, scale running type style at the end that takes all the soul and class out of the song. Mariah's music hasn't been good since her collaboration with boys II men. Tina's version is true to the original with a personal touch. There's no grandeur or spectacle.

Maria Carey may have more ability, but she's a screamer. Too bad too. Because her gifted talent is amazing. She could learn a great deal from Tina, among many others who rely on their voices and not gimmicky cheap vocal manipulation., Just my humble opinion mind you. :)

Not many groups or individuals can cover an original and be better or even as good as the original performer(s). Foreinger "owns this song" but Tina Arena does a good of adding her style to the original lyical presentation. I say "Foreingner" is "old school" and Tina Arena is "new school" and I prefer "old school" but I can dig this "new school" version and I don't always say that about the newer groups. She does sound a bit like Mariah but that is good.
