  • only the germans..

  • one of the most controversial weapons of war I've ever encountered, truly extraordinary guys

  • Where's the sound?

  • @skategirlc They most likely did it to look big and tough. You could see throughout the war that the Germans created larger weaponery with more brute force, but they sacrificed quantity by doing so. The Americans and Russians on the other hand mass produced the t34 and m4 Sherman which overwhelmed the Germans. So yeah, it was basicly a moral booster for the troops.

  • did this thing actually gave any strategical advantage to the Germans (other than a moral boost) or would it make more sense to use the resources to build more regular size artillery.

  • omg, it's like the Death Star of the Second World War.

  • Guys. Where is this weapon now?

    Is it in a museum

    Id love also see Gustav.

  • @thegafferlives I'm pretty sure the germans destroyed this cannon.

  • @elementc

Yes the Nazis blew Dora up whilst retreating & the Russians have Gustav.

  • @elementc

one yes, the other was broken up by the americans

  • @elementc Actually no. We destroyed this cannon, not exactly sure when. But I know the Allies had a part in it's downfall. I think we bombed it?

  • @thegafferlives

The Germans wanted to destroy it,but without succes. The Sowjets found&captured it but no one know, what they doing with it. It was probably melted.

  • @thegafferlives actually, the Germans only made eight of these cannons, all that remain are three. where you can find them idk, try searching on google

  • man that made a 88 look like a airsoft gun

  • I bet it poped alot of ear drums when she went off. My 7.62mm nearly bursts my drum if i dont' have ear protection. This thing is serious.

  • Yeah, its almost FIVE times as powerfull ass your little measly rifle, so dont eaven compare!!! Be realistic!! Be smart!!! Don't compare and contrast!!!

  • whats your problem? I'm just saying this cannon is serious. I'm not comparing this to a riffle. I'm saying this must have been loud for those people that are standing around. And then providing an example of how loud guns are. Geeez, calm down seriously.

  • I'm sorry, I was feeling confrontational and douchbaggy at the time of writing the previous comment

  • Oh well in that case, have it then. No the dora is only 4 times stronger!!! DAH!

  • Jeez. That thing makes me scared LOL

  • Hellz ya!!!! Mount that on my Voltzwaggen Beatel, crusing down the street in my car. Some dude rolls by and says "Hey! When you pull that gun in the garage, does the garage say, Is it in yet?!!" Alright boys load her up! 1 hour later . . . . KAABOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

  • thats was really not funny...

  • In my opinion the "Hey when you pull that gun in the garage, does the garag say 'is it in yet,'?!" joke was funny, but the rest sounds like I tried to hard lol. I don't know, depends who you are.

  • Bullets size of tank, Range 47-50 km, 2-3 shoots per hour... Big toy

  • Speed of bullet about 800 meters per second

  • Echt Deutsch ;/

    EV,ER,EF

  • holy crap, thats one hell of a cannon

  • its funny cause we have smaller canons that dpo more damage then that

  • That was I WW and it can drill 32 meters of ground, 1 meter of steel plate... "bullets" was size of medium tank ;]

  • The 210mm Paris Gun was used in WWI.

Dora and her 800mm sister Cannon were used during the WWII Era.

  • All praise the deutschland military machine because without it the yankees army still would have been a bunch of cowboys, firing Colts

  • didnt they take them off boats???

  • Dude those ships didnt had these guns its 12.8 inch gun...

U remember Kriegskm whit 12.8 inch guns?

    they had 11'' and 14.80''

They where planning to make 16'' yes but they didnt had 12.8'' ;)

So no its a complete other design

I road that somewhere else to

  • Oo now that's what i call firepower! :)

  • this cannon was used durining the bombing campaign of rance 2 rain shells from LARGE distances

it threw the shells into the stratosphere

it was designed to frighten the french into thinking they were being bombed by zeppelins

  • How big was the damage of the impact? Square meters, etc??

  • the bullet ran through 30 meters of rock and 1 meter concrete at once

  • I would also like to know: this information gives me a naziphile hardon.

  • So there all gone, they made 3 ?

  • Are they still around or where they all scrapped after the war ?

  • The germans self destructed it before the allied forces arrived.

  • Did it hit anything where and when ?

  • I'm not sure if it was Dora or Gustav but one of them was used during the seize of Leningrad and blew up a deeply buried ammo bunker, Dora was used against Warsaw during the Jew uprising in 1944.

  • how far could the shell travel in miles ?

  • 18 miles ??

  • Dora the exploder.

  • bet they never hit anything, it would take a day to re ame

  • each shell was numbered and progressively larger

    to compensate for barrel wear.

  • Wrong Cannon... You're talking about the 'Paris Gun' from WWI ( Google it for Wikipedia Link )

  • yes, I realised later that I was wrong.

  • @BrutalDeluxe80

I think you confuse it with the Paris Geschütz of World war one

  • dont call black people niggers

  • Wonderfully ridiculous weapon.

  • made in germany ;]

  • by nazis! :D

  • racist

  • oh my jesus that is crazy...

  • what a big idea, another for WW2

  • is there any movie about dora gun? except "the guns of navarone".

  • None that I'm personally aware of unfortunately.

  • that is called leopold

  • Nope, it´s Dora. Leopold was smaller than that (Leopold was something above 200 mm, Dora is 800mm!)

  • Thats one big mother fucker lol
