Tom Baker was my first Doctor, and I've enjoyed them all, but there's just something about Troughton that speaks to me. If only we could find all that was lost from his era, and if only we could have seen him strut his stuff with the modern technology available.....
This song is perfect. This video is perfect. You had med riveted to a tribute movie of a 1960's black and white tv-show (even if it IS Doctor Who). YOU are a genious!
Matt Smith and the 11th were my introduction to Doctor Who, watching this, I can really see where he got his cues. Troughton's 2nd and Hartnell's 1st are fast becoming two of my other favorite Doctors (you can't forger your first so Matt gets an honorary spot there XD). And hey, who can't love a guy who can wear the hell out of a bow tie?
Cheers to the man whose Doctor became the base template for so many to come, almost even moreso than the one who preceded him.
I bloody love Patrick Troughton!!!!! He is simply massive, my 12 year old has watched all the dvd's I have and listened to the cd's of the adventures lost and completely loves him to bits... I am so excited his son is joining Tom Baker for an audio of 2 doctors together with his son playing his dads part.. marvelous....

Pat Troughton, is quite simply my favourite Doctor. He's quirky, riddiculous, mad, funny and unpredictable. You can see how Matt Smith has channeled some of Pat Troughton, also his fave Doctor through into his role of the 11th Doctor, a homage of sorts.
Its a shame that pretty much all of Pat Troughtons tenure is missing now, bar a few adventures. I sure hope after The Reign of Terror, that the 2nd Doctor Era is one again reborn into the 21st century through animation.
I know. I found out on the day. Its actually just one episode from The UnderWater Menace. The other was a 1st Doctor Story called "Galaxy 4". I cant remember which part of Galaxy 4 turned up though lol. I wish it was one of Troughtons Dalek story's that turned up in full like Tomb of the Cybermen did all those years ago. Or The Tenth Planet part 4.
although patrick is not my fav doc hes certainly fanstastic. And though most people say that pertwee was the revolutionary doctor (because of colour TV) but patrick really turned the doctor from a grumpy wise old grandfather to a light harted action genuis however for some reason i cant take in matt the same way i loved troughton because unlike troughton, matts "clownish" doctor his jokes are dry and plstic, artificial
23 and grew up watching Peter Davison on MPT. Going through the whole series in-order (including reconstructions). I'm on Pertwee and he's great, but I miss Troughton so much x.x.
No doctor ever pulled off being so befuddled yet triumphant the way Patrick did. It may be a dumb observation but alot of tom baker seems to come from Mr. Troughton:)
I just adored Patrick Troughton and I can honestly save that he is one of the damn few actors whose entire body of work is excellent. I especially liked him in The Six Wives of Henry VIII.
@JackWProductions I think it's cause they had a shortage of reel tapes or something, so they needed to wipe out some stuff to make room for new shows. I don't know, that's just what my friend told me
I am sad that so many of the second doctor's stories were lost. I'm 28 and came into Doctor Who via the NuWho, and when I saw ‘Tomb of the Cybermen’ on NetFlix Troughton instantly became by favorite doctor. I try to see what I can of him and cherish every one of them.
@crashthegreenhat I'm 25 years old, pretty new to the whole doctor who universe actually, and i deeply regret i wasn't born then and there to watch this incarnation of the doctor when it was airing, the second doctor is my favorite too
@catsdogsandlego10000 I have and he is great no, he is brilliant, chronologically speaking Eccleston is my first doctor and i love him too i hated that it was for such a short time, but not only did I watched the 2nd doctor first, but I think I also have the right to have a favorite whichever I like the most that is, I LOVE "Doctor Who" I love 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th,9th,10th and 11th, I will probably love the 12th too, I'm not fan of one actor, I am fan of an amazing series.
@haogar5 Same here. I think you must've discovered it before I did. And this is also my favorite Doctor as well. I'd kinda like it if they re-cast and re-filmed the old stories with modern effects and sets.
how come most of the chracters back then wore tartan? the doctor wore kind of tarton trousers, jamie wore a tartan kilt and anything else tartan he could find, the random guy at 0:27 with the sword had a tartan hat and i think u get the picture
I need to get the music used for this video, on CD. I did look up the title several days ago but I couldn't find it anywhere. Do you know if there are any CDs out there that do have it?
there's one thing that always makes me smile: the way the docor- every doctor- just *pops* into screen. you've got to be seriously deranged to not love that, it's just so CUTE.
In my opinion, Pat's son could easily pass for the Second Doctor in a Nu Who multi Doctor episode. Just watch him in Midnight, he looks just like his dad.
@penninefilms Unfortunately the BBC wiped a few of Two's episodes to make room on the tapes for new material, so sadly a lot of the classic material is gone for good :(
@armadafanforever They still have the audios. They could make animatied alternatives and overlay the audios like they did when they released "The Invasion" on DVD. It'll be the closest we'll ever get to seeing them.
I love Troughton, he was goofy, giddy and grumpy, but he was also a very hurt and serious Doctor when he had to be. The speech in "Tomb of the Cybermen" is a perfect example.
Can somebody help me what's the best episodes of the second doctor I've seen all the doctors expect the first two doctors if somebody can help with this
@tnawwerohfan Nobody's replied to you, but somebody ought to -- so I'll jump in! :) Whether or not they're the best or the best introduction, I don't know, but my personal favorites with the Second Doctor are "The Invasion," "The Mind Robber" and "The War Games." (Obviously, I'm a big fan of the Doctor-Jamie-Zoe Team TARDIS!)
@tnawwerohfan Hi there, my favorite three favorite Troughton stories that exist in their entirety are The Mind Robber, Tomb of the Cybermen, and the lengthy The War Games, long but well worth seeing!
First Doctor: The Daleks, The Keys of Marinus, The Reign of Terror, The Romans, The Time Meddler, The War Games.
Second Doctor: Of the remaining episodes you pretty much can't go wrong, except you might find The Mind Robber kinda strange.
If you need or want to find more information on the first two doctors you might want to visit my site/blog at sci-fireflections.weebly.com. I've got quite a bit of info on those Doctors, their companions, and their best episodes.
I like it how you've made the coloured scene black and white to fit them in better with the older footage. Excellent and very fitting song for Troughton's Doctor. Thank you very much for another excellent video!
Every time I go to HMV or WHSmiths to buy my Tom Baker Doctor Who's. I always meet kids with their parents buying doctor who and 9 times out of 10 it is Patrick Troughton they don't seem to like David Tennant...I wonder why? (Sarcasm) There must be something about Who 2 that appeals to little kids even though most of the episodes are missing and they are all in black and white.
All I can say is well done Mr Troughton in heaven! Your memory is ever lasting.
Oh Crumbs, Its seems Most Of My Episodes Are Lost well We Cant Have That Now Can We I'll Just Pop Back In Time And ""Barrow"" Some Copies Before Their Unrightfull BURNED.........BBC (says in a wispering voice) So They Can Be Used For This Awsome Tribute To MEEEE. - The Doctor
It's a shame that so little still exists. If there was any era I wish were complete, it'd be his. I immediately took to him (and lovely Jamie!). You can't help but smile at his comedic physicality and warmth. And you could tell that the camaraderie was there in real-life. I never get tired of that epic side-to-side jumping run. The War Games, my favorite classic story, is one of the show's most emotional dramatic pieces, even by today's standards (I love 10 and 11 for the same reason).
I just watched Fury of the Deep in which had the foam scenes. This video seems to have more of the clips than the reconstruction I watched did. XD, still a very nice episode. It was sad to see Victoria leave.
Tom Baker was my first Doctor, and I've enjoyed them all, but there's just something about Troughton that speaks to me. If only we could find all that was lost from his era, and if only we could have seen him strut his stuff with the modern technology available.....

@tnawwerohfan Hi there, my favorite three favorite Troughton stories that exist in their entirety are The Mind Robber, Tomb of the Cybermen, and the lengthy The War Games, long but well worth seeing!

@tnawwerohfan

It's a big mark of how much I love Doctor Who that Troughton is my least favorite Doctor and I STILL adore him to little tiny bits!

@TheLonePasserby I think all the foam scenes in this video came from The Seeds of Death since Fury of the Deep has so little footage.
