I don't think it's fair the nsx type r was there against the 350Z. That's Honda's best car and the 350Z is not Nissan's best car, the GTR is, which would have beaten all those cars with ease. The S2000 would've been a more suitable competitor for the 350Z. The 350Z would've beat it though :)
I love how Mitsubishi's factory driver rants on about how good the AYC and ACD are, but, always motions to the camera. He's going to say "Hey, boss, I made your car look good on BMI. Can I have a raise please?"
Porsche driver Tsuchiya was basically fucking around the first two laps had be been serious from the start it would have taken all of the other cars easily
This is the best Best Motoring episode i've ever seen. All the cars were driven by drivers who were familiar with the vehicles. Uncharateristically for BM, the GT3 driver even admitted he would be hanging back some. The driver of the GT3 was no less than the Drift King himself, Keiichi Tsuchiya. In another shootout they had a GT3 driven by someone who obviously had little experience in a rear engined vehicle and the lap times suffered; usually BM is like this, with an obvious favorite horse.
the 380rs seems to have better engine mapping than my '07 350z. The tune of my Z takes forever for the rev's to come down during a shift, which makes you have to wait a click or two before you can can put it into the next gear. If you don't wait, you risk grinding because the RPM's are so miss matched.
yea but porsches are shit in handleling so go on the freeway and kill yurself at 80mph.. thats what normally happened since prosches handleling has a mind of its won and wanders on you and 2nd GTR has a good enough engine to race for hours and it handles better than porsche shows how much you know about cars ive driven a GT3 before it's hard at handle GTR has best perfromance alot of you are mad cause GTR outran and outperfromed Porsches 100+k cars..
@350gtrs GTR is probably the easiest car to drive fast. Turbo with AWD and all that computering pulling the car together. It's a no brainer. RR drives very weird. Not many people can get use to it. The newer Porsche models with mid engine drives very different from the 911s. Porsche is trying real hard to keep the RR theory working, it's almost stupid.
Thanks for putting the two periods at the end. Unfortunately despite your paragraph sentence I was able to understand what you were trying to say. Now I've had a lot of experience with people who can drive, but the best ones were always the ones who said things like "shows how much you know about cars ive driven a GT3 before it's hard at handle GTR has best perfromance alot of you are mad cause GTR outran and outperfromed Porsches 100+k cars." You must be good man
@cilginmaymun i think what hes trying to say is "I drove a GT3 and i crashed it into a tree, so im gonna tell everyone they're shit so they don't think im a bad driver, in the meantime im gonna stick to the GTR cos thats really easy to drive fast"
Bah...the Z33 isn't a sports car. It's a cheap alternative for a porsche at best. Even with the use of nearly all FPR panels in racing trim it achieves 1260. That's a bit of a disappointment. I'm sticking to my R32 skyline. Cheap and 1300kg just by removing AC and 4WS...1250 target with stripped interior, light front panels and hood. Battery relocation close to rear axle and all alloy V8 should see it better balanced than most Z33's. Porsche is beautiful though. NSX stands the test of time too.
GT3 is like a GOD compared to these cars. Drive one and you will yearn to get one all your life, even a cayman S is way way better than that Nismo BS lol. That VQ engine is just horrible they should design a new one.
17:59 - "But in Europe, the grass roots racing scene is dominated by BMW and Porsche." What a hell is that? hmmmm try to remember... oh i cant remember.... ah MERCEDES!
@RyckardPT Do you know what grassroots means? It means private owned racing. No one buys Merc to race, but plenty of people buy Porsches to build into race cars.
Not having watched this, I just don't have any faith in the Z33 chassis. I think they resolved a lot of the issues it had in the Z34. But still, it's a compromise. It's heavy and a bit blunt. The "Japanese Corvette" is an apt description. It's a good effort, but still a disappointment, like the DC5/EP3... let's see what happens in the vid.
I agree with you cumberj001, the 380rs seems heavy, sluggish with performance, the 370z body with that motor perhaps some additional intake/exhaust tuning will greatly enhance the overall nissan performance. The 370z is much lighter, wider, and much more nimble. The NSX-R is amazing for an NA, although overpriced is a true performer. Mitsu/Porsche are on point.
The Porsche GT3 is actually the clear winner of this whole race. It wasn't even trying in the beginning. It didn't attack at all. If it attacked in the beginning it would have been first. Notice at the end it already really close to the EVO. If it was still another 5 seconds of race left; the GT3 would have won even by starting off not trying.
Nissan Has to learn important factors of a sports car. Take the Porsche & the NSX-R, they have great handling despite drive terrains. Porsche knows how to deal with power and balance. Take the EVO9 as another example it has good breaks, ACD & AYC. It's cornering is really impressive for a sedan. Also the engine in the nissan has to be Tuned more, weight has to be reduced, suspension. And it will be a fine car. Good Battle With the Evo and Porsche GT3 5 Stars.
I thinkthe only aspect Nissan needs to learn is weight reduction. All their cars are too heavy. everything else they do is awesome. but the weight is what keeps hidering their performance.
@zan888 The way they set the starting line up is according to each car's respected lap time. The faster the car the closer to the rear it starts. That said, the GT3 is the fastest of them all. Also I would pay the extra 20K for a GT3 over a GTR because the GT3 is a hell of a lot smoother on and off the track.
Who cares, this limited editon 380RS is already obsolete. The new Nismo 370Z (Z34) will be faster with 3.7L 350hp lighter, shorter, and more agility. For the price who cares about the Porsche. Bring on the Cayman instead. Since the 997.5 Turbo loses to the R35 GTR, the Z should be compared with the Cayman. Just love to see the looks on the face of the Cayman $70K loses to the Z cost nearly 20K less on the track
@koukiR32 FYI, the Cayman did spank Nismo 370Z in one of the later Best Motoring episodes. BTW, Porsche sells their cars for that money because they CAN. Nissan CAN'T sell their car for more. Learn some econ before posting stupid arguments.
@koukiR32 If you have ever driven or have had the chance to ride in a Porsche Cayman or GT3 you couldn't even compare a 370z to them. The ride on the road versus its performance on the track is bar none. Even the GTR can't compare. It may be faster on the famed Nurburgring, but it drives like shit on the road. Also a GTR can't even perform in any endurance racing as it stands from the factory. A Porsche GT3 or GT3RS is made to roll of the showroom floor and race on the track with racing times.
@e2emceesquared In fact I have driven the latest Cayman S as well as the new PDK equipped Carrera S 385hp. at Mosport in Ontario. And yes I won't compare the new Z with the GT3 cause it's more car and more money $48K VS $140K. But when you drive the Cayman S at $90K I don't know about you. But at the track the Z is just as good to me. Sure it might not have the flat six sound and sure the interior has less leather inserts. But at $40K premium over the Z. It's not hard to see the adv.
@e2emceesquared The GT-R has proven more stable lap times and faster than the GT3 or the GT3 RS, just watch more Best Motoring races and check the results. The GT3 becomes unstable at the back and a racing time in a street car is impossible. Even if you get the Viper ACR Track Edition the track with 100hp less will be faster, they were made for that.
@e2emceesquared lol with all the roll cages, striped out interiors in the gt3 and you're comparing how it rides on the road with the gtr and saying the ride is shit? stop spewing bullshits.
@axtray I don't think you have ever seen the interior of a gt3. The cage is only for roll over protection. It adds little to no structural rigidity. Try driving one then talk and quit acting like a child over the internet.
@e2emceesquared ive had a ride in a gtr from a used car dealer and it's definitely not shit. who are you trying to fool here for god sake. quit being a fucking porsche fanboy yourself before telling others
@koukiR32 A cayman S will never lose to a Z on the track as long as that Z is using that heavy VQ series engine and those fat body panels which increase the weight and then finish off the brakes. Its a shame most Nissan cars are made for the Grand Turismo kidos who look at brochure values... Learn to drive
i dont understand...he says its set up for torque and acceleration not top speed buts its slower than both at both! also he says the 380rs'handling is sharp but then says it felt slugish and was slower than them again on tskuba which is quite twisty, then says it performs better on the high speed sectors, maybe that is true but it should have done better on the last corner to prove this.
I just want to point out that this Porsche is caged so it will change how it drives from stock. but even if it was not modified it would still kill all these cars.
3,8litres of crap .Like someone would pay 60-70K euros to buy this one instead of the M3 with 430PS and 4.0litre engine. Its really hatd to outrun the german street cars (i dont include the recing)
@freddy692000 I'm pretty sure Nissan GTR R35 will outrun the M3. Someone would pay 60-70K because it was a special edition with limited production and developed by their racing team.
NSX-R would've won if Gan San was driving it.
