@yermom024 To be a mason one must ask a mason. If you don't know any Freemasons you have to go to the place where you can find them, the Masonic lodge. You can google your city and masonic lodge (ie Phoenix Arizona Masonic Lodge) then find the nearest lodge and call them. Ask when they meet and just show up as a visitor. Once your there you can talk to them about the next step but at this point that is all you need to know.

I was born into a Protestant Christian family, with my Dad being the pastor and teaching me everything I know. For me, God is the only way, and nothing else. Of course no one can stop you from calling yourself a Freemason - it just doesn't make it so - any more than if you decided to call yourself a Doctor without earning the necessary degree.

The Illuminati was an organization founded in Bavaria in the 1770's It is not an affiliation or sub-group of Freemasonry. So I can't tell you what the group believed in, or if it exists today, what they practice. I can only speak for the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Our Fraternity believes in God and in being of good moral character. My opinion of the "entertainers" you mention is a shrug of my shoulders. @yermom024 To be a mason one must ask a mason. If you don't know any Freemasons you have to go to the place where you can find them, the Masonic lodge. You can google your city and masonic lodge (ie Phoenix Arizona Masonic Lodge) then find the nearest lodge and call them. Ask when they meet and just show up as a visitor. Once your there you can talk to them about the next step but at this point that is all you need to know.

Once a man becomes a 3rd Degree Master Mason, he has reached the highest level Freemasonry confers. Your problems do not come from Freemasonry.

@PersonguydudeWB, Freemasonry is not for everyone. We work very hard at our craft and consider membership a priviledge. It is, by no means, elitist. White collar or blue collar, wealthy or not, all are Brothers in our Lodge. If you are a good man, and believe in God, you have all the qualifications Masonry requires. Freemasonry is not a secret society, it is a Fraternity of men that keep secret that which we hold of deepest value.

The Illuminati was an organization founded in Bavaria in the 1770's It is not an affiliation or sub-group of Freemasonry. So I can't tell you what the group believed in, or if it exists today, what they practice. I can only speak for the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Our Fraternity believes in God and in being of good moral character. My opinion of the "entertainers" you mention is a shrug of my shoulders. Conspiracy theorists abound, and nothing can be said to change their minds.

@truth7seeker I was raised the same and believe and practice the same. It is my belief that Christianity is the true path but not my place to judge others who believe in their religion. Freemasonry is not a Christian only organization. Jews and Muslims are not praising Christ but do pray to the same God that we, as Christians, pray to. The only requirement to becoming a Mason, in a religious sense, is that you believe in God.

@truth7seeker I am a Christian, I need not tell you the denomination. I am not brainwashed in any way. There is such a thing as saved. The Holy Bible teaches me that. You can be happy with your research but it doesn't change the fact that you know nothing of Masonry. There is no plan of salvation in Masonry, therefore, not a religion. I once asked a forum of masons, "If we had more masons in office in GOV. would not the Gov be better off." They did not say yes or no. They said "You mean men of character?" I sat back in my chair and thought well.... duh thats what i really meant. For most masons have character. But not all characters are masons.

@SteelWolf13 ...I'm really not sure what point you are trying to make. Masons certainly believe that being a "man of character" should be a primary goal in life. We also believe that the teachings of Freemasonry can make good men better. But no Mason would suggest that only members of the Fraternity possess this trait.
