@wolfpacguy Yes it is. It's also one of the earliest man made musical instrument. It comes from West Africa and went to Bahia in northeast Brasil. Nana is one of the great virtuoso berimbau players among his other talents. The man is a walking musical entity.

nana performed with the great pat metheny and did a concert where he played this as a lead up to a tune anyone any ideas which concert can only think it appeared on channel 4 when it was in its infance i think the track was called the Bat?

It was the montreaux jazz festival i think. It was the intro to a track called OAZRK. The video is one youtube if you search for the track name, whoever posted it cut his solo at the start out, but the track itself is there.

no Ozark is a song with the Pat Metheny group.. this video is simply Naná improvising. Or actually you could say it's him playing some of his "O Berimbau" concerto for berimbau and orchestra from the 1979 record "Saudade"
