  • Moeller was a guy, his name was sanford a moeller. the moeller method was named after him because he studied civil war snare drummers who could play blazing speeds with little effort. He then taught it to Jim chapin who taught this method as a secret method, who recently died in 09. the moeller method was used with the hands. Not the feet. lol. More of a push pull like you said in the video. Good vid though

  • Free drum lessons in their "Bass Drum Boot Camp" showcased this technique in their heel-toe section. It is just an adaptation to make the technique more universal, instead of just restricting it to longboard pedals.

  • Explain to me, how you got such an awesome bass drum sound! Nice technique too btw.

  • I love how when he slows it down you can really see how that cam works, it literally just snaps

  • Who is the guy explaining? Thx.

  • Is that Powerglove music in the opening seconds of this video?

  • would this be a good technique for double bass? or would that make it very unbalanced?

  • whenever i do heel toe i only get 2 quick strokes. how do i get that continuous flow that he gets?

  • its just heel toe, but u bring your foot down the pedal.

  • video comes off so eerie to me...good shit though.

  • i use this technique, it's really helpful, but is it hte same that jojo mayer uses???

  • @protobuster I'm pretty sure he uses heel toe and this technique

  • This is not moeller technique, but good work

  • This technique is called the Constant Release

  • Whats the name of the band in the intro?

  • so what the best single foot technique to achieve the highest speed?

  • your vids are very goog what kind of music do you play?

i would like to learn how to play the drums but i think that i dont have talen to do it

  • This is garbage technique.

  • harsh...a lot of gospel/funk drummers use this technique

  • your spring are too loose

  • @Justs99171 Actually, your education is garbage.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX Fuck off, idiot. Go fucking learn something before you talk SHIT to me.

  • you're pedal swing is way too long, i'm sure it hits you in the foot all the time.... adjust that cam angle up just a little so the foot board stops hitting the cam.... you can hear it hitting it throughout all you're videos...

  • That pedal is held together by glue pretty much. lol. it was killed after touring for several years

  • I know this is kinda noobish, but can you post a video explaining the basics on adjusting spring tension? I don't use Axis, but I'm sure i can figure it out with a video regardless

I'm sure it wouldn't take but a second of your time.

    Either way, Thanks.

  • He doesn't use axis if that's what you mean... That's Pearl Eliminator if I remember correctly.

  • correct

  • axis are a pain to adjust. I have one now and wanna sell it off

  • This looks like an excellent adaptation of Steve Smiths constant release

  • thank you very much man

  • Man I gotta learn this but for some reason if I try to do any more than 8th notes, like constant 16th notes like you're doing, I end up leaving my heal up and doing heal up, and I can't keep the technique going. I think I just need more practice. Any advice?

  • it's been five months since this comment, how have you been with this technique?

  • i gave up on it and decided to learn george kollias's technique. it works a lot better for me

  • Find your niche, ya know, I honestly don't like this technique too much but I'm just trying to help other drummers build their tool box.

  • oooh!!!! constant release!!!! good explanation!!!

  • thank you! =]

  • why do you call it "toe-heel" instead of "heel-toe"?

  • I learned heel toe as something else and I've heard many other people referee "heel toe" as different technique all together!

This technique (I do regret referring to it as toe-heel now) is much more effective than the heel toe technique in my opinion, but I don't think it should be named heel-toe.

I refer to it as the moeller technique on the feet since it resembles the mechanisms!

  • check out what freddie gruber / steve smith call the "constant release" motion with bass drum. i view it a lot like that...and i do think it is wayy more efficient than heel-toe. i would also agree to call it the "moeller" for the feet. :D

  • I will! Thanks for sharing this with me! Be blessed =]

  • they're differnet.

  • what song is in the background?

  • It's the band Powerglove, they're awesome!

  • fucking hell to the yes! when they came around with psychostick i had them rip the sleeves off my old school pglove shirt, and sign my vhs copy of hackers, and my ancient snes.

  • lol awesome!

  • love the cams.

  • I miss this pedal. Axis is terrible
